#player1 Samuel_Kaplan Samuel Kaplan
#player2 Menachem_Rosenberg Menachem Rosenberg
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAILOPT 8D PATIO +20 20
#note Game 1 of NYC Virtual club 2-18-2021. This is best. TAPALO or 8G OPA setting up the L are also fine, but this scores the most. Worth noting: I have never played Menachem before, but from what I saw from his Cross Tables profile: he averages 412 points a game which suggests he favors more open boards. So this should be an exciting one.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: CEEIKTV D8 .ICKET +28 28
#note This scores the most. E5 KIVA or E8 ACTIVE are also fine.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEILNRY 13B IN.ERLAY +82 102
#note Easily best.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: BBEVWWY H12 W.VY +51 79
#note Clunky, but easy for him to score.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DGIIRST B10 DIG.T +22 124
#note This move strictly depended on the kind of board I wanna have. Considering I can't close everything down, I decided to take the extra points with this over 7E DIG or 9E DIG.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: ABBEMNW A8 BEAM +31 110
#note This is not bad, but A7 MANEB would have gotten another conso off his rack.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEIIORS 11D .OI +14 138
#note I wasn't as concerned about giving back a hotspot when there's already an X hotspot above PATIO. This is fine for the score and the leave. I did see 7A AI too but AEIRS is a better leave on this board and Menachem can close the top off with an easy score on Row 6.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: BFILNSW 9G FIB +26 136
#note Seeing he's an aggressive player, this move is fine. F10 F(I)B(R)IL also works for 5 less but keeps better.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEIRRST J6 ARTSIER +70 208
#note Yay another stem. Basically a coin flip between this and TARSIER.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: ALNNSWZ 9C Z.N +24 160
#note Looks fine to me.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DHHNOR 11I H.RON +16 224
#note Many plays are reasonable here. I did not know A4 HORN(BEAM) and I did not see 11I DEHORN. Anything that was gonna blast the bottom right open and float a vowel in more than 1 spot with a lack of vowels myself would suffice.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: AGLNSSW 8J .WANGS +33 193
#note Nice and aggressive, I like it. It's easily best.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEEHIN L2 EcHIDN.E +72 296
#note His last move suggested that he has more consonants. I did see 6H HE(A)DlINE for 10 less which would have blocked easy bingoes on Row 15, but he is random enough after playing off 5 tiles. And I'm gonna be up by more than 100 after this turn. So no need to play scared. If anything, the S is still very usable and I am still giving back another bingo lane by doing HE(A)DlINE. I could also block the S directly by doing O6 rE(S)HINED, but this board isn't gonna be closed anytime soon.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: ADELSTU 14H .AULTED +31 224
#note 12H (W)A(R)ED is a sick play but this is fine too. LSTU isn't that good a leave.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EFGIMOV 15M FOG +29 325
#note Very close in the sim between this and 12L MOVE.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: ADORSSU 13M DA +24 248
#note I like DUO in this spot better.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEIJMPV 5K J.MP +30 355
#note I did see 5K JIVE but since he just fished, let's take out Column O bingoes because JIMPS* isn't good.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: CORSSUU N2 COU.S +22 270
#note 3I SUC(c)OUR would have really kept me on my toes on my next turn and possibly on future turns. I'd have a hard time closing down those lanes. I would not have known that one.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEEEINV B6 VEE +18 373
>Menachem_Rosenberg: LORSUUX F10 X. +25 295
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AEEINT 2E dETAINE. +61 434
#note Yay 5v8s and no 3x3s allowed. Happy to give up 2 points with this over Column I bingoes here.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: ALORSUU 1H LOUR +24 319
#note It might not have been his game, but he does (rather easily and rightfully) Q-stick me.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ELOOQR D8 ......ER +17 451
#note A better play is 12H (W)O(R)E for 2 more.
>Menachem_Rosenberg: ASU 6B .AUS +7 326
#note His best out is 15B SURA.
Good decision making was done throughout this game and got lucky with DETAINEE in the end, but not so lucky with the Q.
