Game 3
>Hercules: FGIIIRY F6 FI.RY +27 27
>kacattac: ?AAELST J2 ALThEAS +73 155
#note I am a player who sees ALThEAS but not (E)ScALATE. At least this is only 1 worse and has some defensive value. Don't get comfortable yet, this game is far from over.
>Hercules: ?DGIINT H8 .NDITInG +80 107
>kacattac: AEEIORW E10 OWIE +19 174
#note I'm sayin, us not-quite-experts really should take nines and tens more seriously. Apparently RE(CHARTERS) is a word and sims best here, though not by very much. The options here are suprisingly limited and mostly pretty bad. Sim narrowly prefers K5 OWE or 10H (D)OWIE. In hindsight, I should have been more amenable to those since opp has just turned over his entire rack. As it is, I play scared and give back short parallel plays instead of bingo lanes, which I now realize doesn't actually make sense here.
>Hercules: DGOOORT D10 GOOD +31 138
>kacattac: AEEKMPR F12 KEP +26 200
#note Sim prefers MAKE or PAK one column to the right of this. Or I can play KEP there for 1 more pt but, somehow, identical equity. I think I just tunneled a bit. I do heart the leave here.
>Hercules: EIORSTU 3G OUT.IERS +70 208
>kacattac: AEEIJMR H1 JE. +30 230
>Hercules: CGINQUW G2 W.G +12 220
#note SK chuckles: double whoopsy here. Opp plays it and I let it go. Sim does confirm, though, that none of the available Q plays are worth making here.
>kacattac: ADEEIMR 2L MEAD +24 254
#note Nothing to see here folks. I guess I'll have to go back on caffeine next week. Among non-bingos, sim narrowly prefers shorter plays which score less and give back less.
>Hercules: ACIINQU C3 QUINI. +36 256
>kacattac: AAEHILR 1N HA +30 284
>Hercules: AABCNOY E2 CYANO +25 281
>kacattac: ADEFILR I7 F.AE +27 311
#note FML A(I)RFIELD. Why am I even posting my games? F(R)AE scores best among non-bingos but sim hates blowing up this rack and again wants to play shorter.
>Hercules: ABENNVX J10 VEX +36 317
>kacattac: DILNORV K11 DIRL +25 336
#note K9 VID is the play I was looking for. There is a yet sneakier I backhook available elsewhere which makes for a quite interesting alternative. Do you see it?
>Hercules: ABENNOU 12H .O..N +24 341
#note SK ponders: well, this is pretty all-in. Sim approves.
>kacattac: EINOPUV M9 VINE +24 360
#note I go all-in back. If opp has ZO- pair, I lose; if not I have good chances to win. Can you figure out why sim likes 5H UP(h)OVE so much? I think it has to do with the aforementioned sneaky hook factor, which I do not spot. I do think it's defensible to play defense here, though, and I'm not sure it's so defensible to just leave TOXIN alone, no matter the upside elsewhere the board.
>Hercules: ABBENSU 14J B.UBS +30 371
>kacattac: ALMOPTU 8L TOLU +23 383
#note Four-ply sim thinks it's fine to play MOLA or LOUP here. I was thinking it's more important not to float anything as attractive as an A or even a P.
>Hercules: AENORTZ 15G A.RO +9 380
#note SK adds: blocks MAPLES.
>kacattac: AELMPS 4L MAPS +44 427
#note I have previously noticed AMP(U)LES, but now I forget about it. Opp is kind enough to message me almost immediately to point out that I missed it.
