Game 1
OSMIUM and SIMOOM seem to have departed my braincase for the moment. But Do I really want to burn the S and float it to a very strong opp? I'm fine with MOMI here, sim be damned.
>Backspin: ADFJKRT 7F TAJ +25 25
>kacattac: EGLORSU 9F LUGE +29 45
#note Sims best. Tempting as it is to cling to the E, it's not worth 7 pts, and playing it here also greatly restricts just about every angle of counterplay, e.g. the S(LUG) hook is elided, bingos through the I in MOMI are restricted, bingos forming (JOG)S are restricted.
>Backspin: DDFKORU E9 KUDO +28 53
>kacattac: EILORSW D11 OWL +25 70
#note Sim prefers just OW. They're both dangerous, so why not go for a full fork, break up the LR pairing, score 2 more? I'll have to think about this one.
>Backspin: DEFNORU C5 FOUNDER +68 121
>kacattac: DEIORST 10I STORIED +67 137
#note Brain freeze time. Somehow took forever just to see bingos here, then panicked and played too fast. This fits underneath JOG.

#note Sims really loves ZO(N)E instead. But if I'm keeping the W then I'm probably not bingoing, and at that point I like keeping OW together. Marginal considerations: there is one more I than O unseen; the I could unlock big parallel plays at O1, forming (Q)I.
>Backspin: EGHRTVY M9 R.GHTY +28 213
#note SK butts in: THEY plays under STORIED for a huge score. Opp took a long time here and is not prone to misses of this magnitude. If he did see THEY and decided to do this instead, perhaps that choice was calculated to chase blanks and stay balanced. Sim doesn't quite agree, but RIGHTY does outsim its static value pretty significantly, and it did work out.
>kacattac: CEOTUWX 12L C.OW +32 256
#note Passing up M1 TUX. They sim the same, but I didn't want to float opp a T in row 1, nor incentivize any slop at O1 in case he has esses to burn.
>Backspin: ?AAENRV 2B .zAREVNA +64 277
>kacattac: EINRTUX M1 TUX +40 296
#note Now it's TUX time.

>Backspin: ADEEIOS H1 O.E +9 310
>kacattac: HLNNPTV D1 P.TH +24 392
#note Minor brain freeze here. Thought correctly that PANT was not worth it, but HANT is a word, scores only 2 less, and undoubles.
>Backspin: ADEEFIS A12 FE.D +36 346
>kacattac: ALNNPRV 14J VAR. +18 410
#note Somewhat larger brain freeze, first of all in not seeing what opp's best options actually are (they are vertical, not horizontal), second in missing 5J VARN(A), which goes out in two. Can someone help me understand why Quackle gives win percentages like 79.02 for plays made with the bag empty? Shouldn't all win percentages with the bag empty be 0, 50 or 100?

#note Strong endgame by opp to bleed me maximally after my error. True Scrabble Confessions: I have a very strong aversion to playing any variant of WIN in this situation! I'm a lot of unseemly things, but I'm not a trash talker. I figured I could survive without 12F (WO)N and decided not to play it. (I missed 1K (OPA)L.) If the game had hung in the balance, however, I would have slapped it down unapologetically; and if opp were then to accuse me of trash-talking, who would look worse? Language proffers many, many ways of offending people without resorting to even mild obscenities or slurs. Hopefully it does not someday become illegal to play WON in this situation just because this could, potentially, be interpreted as unsportsmanlike conduct. Let's be sensitive enough to hold back the play when we can afford it and smart enough not to sweat it too hard if we can't afford it.
