#note a few interesting options here. Joey's range is a bit wide, but it leans toward strength I think. Maybe I'm overestimating things. So I could respond with V(E)T, setting up my O and likely getting a bingo down next turn for a decent score. I could play (E)NVOY for a score, also keeping a good bingo leave and giving myself floaters to work with next turn. If Joey plays down to those floaters, he's still giving me floaters, and I also have 5 chances to hit a hook for JET, etc. (J)OTTY looks a bit too counterproductive, VN? isn't great and it gives Joey another scoring spot to work with, though if I think he's strong, it might be OK to do that. I settled on this because it also hits a lot of a bingos next turn, but also favours overlaps while keeping the T for a reoverlap and the V for defense.
>Joey_Krafchick: BNNU 11D BUNN. +20 40
#note this was the downside of JETTY, giving back an easy play to the Y, but in this case, I get something through the E quite often. Maddy Kamen and Adam Ginzberg looked over at our board and at least one of them thought that the opening play was JETTY, forgoing doubling the J.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?HLNOTV 8D VOLT. +12 27
#note this was an odd decision by me. I don't think I saw or considered NOH 12C at all, the clear equity play blocking the clear scoring spot. However, I really enjoyed the look of the board after this. If he uses the full scoring spot at 12A, I might get a very nice score myself, even a 3x3. However, Joey is more prone to playing at 12C or 12B than he is to play at 12A given his style of late, so perhaps this was an oversight, since things aren't great when he does that. The bingo lines are mostly airballs and he has a significant lead before my turn. NOH seems standard and totally fine here. HOV(E)L also seems decent, setting up two lanes. #findingmedium

>Joshua_Sokol: ?HINORT A5 aNORTHI. +86 113
#note unfortunately I took 4-5 minutes here making sure there was no 3x3, and didn't count how much a play would score at 13B. TINHORn scores 3 more than my bingos to the C. #findingsmall. ORNITHIC was more defensive but I was only 80% sure of it or so. #knowledgesmall

>Joey_Krafchick: DEINPT C2 DIPNET +35 132
>Joshua_Sokol: ABEIOSV I5 AVO +17 154
#note unfortunately I totally spaced on just VIA B1 here. That seems clear. I considered BIO and BOA there... I didn't like giving up the S here with VASE, but it did score well. I also didn't like the leave of BIO at all. #findingmedium

#note wow, missing stuff left and right this game. E3 OAF would be enough, but I somehow missed A1 OF as well... this looked pretty ugly and I needed to keep looking, but he was playing the fast game again since I took forever in the opening. #findinglarge
>Joey_Krafchick: ELLRSTY 15A T.RY +33 212
#note luckily I wasn't the only one missing plays. Joey missed L(O)RY or the star play, the weird 5 T(O)LYL #findinglarge #knowledgelarge
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEESSX F5 AXE. +27 237
#note AXE for 25 was a lot safer, but I didn't even consider it. This is fine though it sets up ZA for the rest of the game #questionable

#note still hadn't processed that I had missed OF on FUGIO turn. Braindead.
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEILNZ E5 ZA +53 364
#note omg D(A)E(DA)LIAN. Seems wrong though, gotta avoid the Q at all costs unless I draw the U, but even then there's just (S)UQ
I also considered (T)IZ because of how many I's remained, but I thought the points were important. However if I do draw the Q, TIZ is good because it leaves me Q(U)A. This gives back really cool TUPIKS/GOPIKS at G2
Z(A)I(DA) might also be a play here, to leave a spot for Q(U)A(I) #questionable
>Joey_Krafchick: EIOR G2 O.RIE +34 352
>Joshua_Sokol: CDEHILN 4L LICH +32 396
#note this was complicated. I really don't want to draw the Q, I lose if I do I think. Even if I make a spot for it for (E)LENCHI L4, he just blocks and sticks, and I don't think I can outrun in the endgame. Just have to hope that he got it or somehow already had it with OURIE (with UQ or something OURIE is reasonable)
I'm worried he will outscore after MAQUI, but I could just play it very slow and drop the L with (A)L(A) I1. I should have considered that. I would worried he could create another spot to play the Q for a lot, but that doesn't seem to work. Just looked complicated and I was in slight time trouble. I could also just play (E)H as well. Dropping one tile seems to be a 8/9
>Joey_Krafchick: AAIIMQR 13B .I +18 370

#note -23 I determined post-mortem. This was dumb. Need to play U(H) first.
