>David_Koenig: AFIRUY 8H AURIFY +32 32
#note Played in this position for two reasons: the U next to double letter scores is harder to use than an A, and the position one to the left would allow AURIFYING to the triple word. I did not keep track of my leaves in this game, though I've filled a few in from memory. I do not remember what the seventh tile was here, but I'm sure it was not an A, which would produce a funny looking seven which I have played before!

>David_Koenig: AEEOQRS L8 .EARE +39 155
#note I could be misremembering, but I think OQS was my leave here. If so, I missed QORMA, which is a much better play. Shedding the Q immediately and setting up the strong scoring hook of QORMAS to the triple line would have been worth far more than the extra seven points for FEARE.
>ABSP_Discussion_Group: ?ENOTTY 4H TENOT.mY +80 252
#note Nice job by team ABSP coming up with the highest scoring bingo.
>David_Koenig: ENOOQSU H1 QUO.E +42 197
#note Again, I am working from hazy memory of what my leave was. Although QUEY and QUEYN to the O column score more, they are not better plays, because the duplicate O's in the leave drastically reduce my bingo chances. QUOTE has a better chance to bingo immediately, and setting up the back hooks at 6H along with keeping the O column open leaves a board more amenable to comebacks.
>ABSP_Discussion_Group: ADEGILP F3 DIPLEG.A +66 318
#note However, I can't come back if they keep bingoing on every turn!
>David_Koenig: AHNOSTU C6 HAN.OUTS +76 273
#note This is better than the anagram THOUSAND for board shape reasons. It creates bingo lanes at B1-7 and D1-7 as well as lanes for eights through the T and S in the lower left.

>David_Koenig: EKLNV K3 V.LK +22 295
#note I can't remember exactly what my other two tiles were here, but they were definitely two of RST. So VOLK goes a long way toward improving the leave toward a bingo, and it at least doesn't close any of the lanes that are open. However, I am running out of time, and it is unfortunate that I can't make a rack cleaning play that gives me any more lanes. I considered something like LEK or LEV 6L, but keeping either the K or V crimps bingo chances too much. I also considered making a play keeping KELN to try to draw another E for KNEEL B10 for 60 points, but with only two E's unseen that was too low probability a chance.

>David_Koenig: AENRRST 10J ...RT +12 307
#note While there is a good chance that they may have one of the last two A's to hit the CHARTA hook, this is the kind of risk you need to take when you are chasing. I can't take the time to make a quiet play and allow something locking down the entire left half of the board. My gambit actually worked well. I drew bingos that fit on both the left and the right on the next turn.
>ABSP_Discussion_Group: ?AEGIOT O8 GOATIEr +85 484
#note But again, it doesn't matter how many comeback chances you give yourself when they keep doing things like this.
>David_Koenig: AEGNRSU A3 SUNGA.ER +69 376
#note I would have had RAUNGES on column O if they had not taken the CHARTA hook. I would have preferred that to UNGEARS in order to leave the X spot open at N6.
>ABSP_Discussion_Group: BINNOTW N4 .OW +30 514
#note This blocks the high scoring X spot but leaves them with awkward enough tiles that I should be able to prevent them from going out, though we all missed the possible out play on their next turn. There is no strategy here. Solving the endgame is a matter of seeing the plays and doing the raw calculation. Their best play is not to block the big X spot but instead to play INBENT I1 for 33 points. Then after MAXI/MOXA for 58, they go out with OW N1 for 24. That causes a lead change of +33-58+24+16=+15.
>David_Koenig: ADFILOX N13 FOX +33 409
#note I missed their outplay of INBENT, which must be blocked to maximize spread for me. The best play for me is DIPLEX 5D for 41, after which the best continuation is BIND 3C 14, followed by OAF N13 going out for 16. Starting from the MOW play, this results in a lead change of +30-41+14-16-4=-17, which is 32 points worse than the continuation starting with INBENT on the previous turn. Of course, this is assuming best play for both sides, which neither side achieved, but it does illustrate why blocking the biggest X play at the cost of a leave that cannot go out quickly is not best. The extra points I earn from getting an additional turn more than offset scoring less with the X on a single turn.
>ABSP_Discussion_Group: BINNT D5 BIN.. +14 528
#note As already mentioned, INBENT going out is best here. Failing that, team ABSP made a play to block my highest scoring out of DIALER.
>David_Koenig: ADIL E4 DAL +32 441
#note A bit more endgame arithmetic here: DITAL is +16+4=+20, but DAL is +32-9-2=+21
