#note I always underestimate how much more bingo-prone the I is than the A. I felt that AD had enough synergy over DI that ADES was the better leave, but the difference in scoring isn't that great and DEIS bingoes a few percent more than ADES. ex AE also bingoes more than both, which I find kinda surprising cause I felt ADEIS was one of the worse 3v2c leaves, since the D is less flexible than stuff like the LNRT tiles. Ofc that's with no inference in the sim, Joey will restrict my bingo% more after an x2. I'm willing to say this is a #tacticssmall since I doubted DEIS too much. IDEA or AIDE are okay optimally, but it's pretty close, and my plan against joey is definitely not to play either of those plays, giving back a lot more in score and bingoes. even optimally I tend towards exchanging.

>Jackson_Smylie_(A2): AANSTTV L8 VAT +16 93
#note ouch big miss of FELLA here. VAT is definitely the play. I considered VACANT, which seems more thematic with the lead, but I felt like it was too big a sacrifice, and the top-left defense it does is only minor cause the C is aready fairly defensive in the position it's in, and VACANT gives up a few more bingoes immediately than VAT. def a #visionmedium for the hook - in the sim this play is only 4 points back, but that's assuming I find FELLA next turn, which I don't

#note this over AQUA for balance partially, but mainly to not open the 6 row, since the left side is closed now with HUB. TWAINS/FELLA is the play though, especially after his fish. normally I might do WAITS or something, but with his consonant heavy range (and bingo heavy range, lots of Sccv and ?ccc racks), it's great to force him to end with a vowel, which he has a shortage of. Just playing WAITS would let him play a --vS word, which is more likely than a vowel-ending word. this ended up being a very costly error.

>Jackson_Smylie_(A2): FIINSTT 12K .IFT +14 164
#note I still don't see this as an error. equity wise FIT is justifiable, but it leaves me in a bad position when Joey likely scores at 15A - I'll be down 30-40 points on a pretty dead board, and will rely on hitting marginal C, 9, and M lanes. I prefer this route which gives me a good bingo lane and scoring lane for when he hits the left side scoring spots. you could make an argument for 13K lift instead, but I felt that made my scoring options with the LIFTS hook worse since I'd have to have an S-middle word or hit a 6, which felt less flexible than giving myself options for 5s and S-starting 4s.

#note totally thought this was good! I am not brazen enough or dumb enough to phony Joey when I have another bingo available. my confidence was real, and I have made this TININGS error 60 times before but now never again

#note big error, and I didn't properly find my options here. My thought process was very much focused on JET, and I really remember kinda pretending to myself that I was looking for other options when I was really just excited to play JET cause it felt so good. I want to not make these sort of excitement errors in the future, and truly look for other options. I think I was temporarily unaware of the SEGO threat or something, because once I notice that longterm threat I should be less satisfied with JET. JIB(E)R is absolutely the play here. Not only cause PLT is better than BILPR on this board (more flexibility, not as many problem consonant racks), JIBER takes out the SEGO spot which will be a bitch to block, and the recursive threat will let joey wait for a big play there. #strategylarge even though I didn't find the play, it was based on being unaware of the threat, and JIBER isn't hard to come up with once the threat is noticed

>Jackson_Smylie_(A2): BEILNPR K4 B..E +20 322
#note could do BILK or something? it leaves better tiles. Kenji pointed out that this lets stuff like PO(ON) happen, which is annoying to block. BILK just leaves a few more bingo options and still some annoying scoring plays. questionable

>Jackson_Smylie_(A2): AEILNPR N1 LIP +22 344
#note PRIMAL and PRIMA are both interesting. it's worth saying right off the bat that RIP is a better version of this play - firstly sets up ELAN in case he leaves the spot open (which he could with 11 row plays), secondly is more scoring defensive with the R instead of the L, and finally keeps the L when there are three Rs remaining. I remember considering a bunch of N1 plays and deciding that LIP was the best of them, but I can't believe I didn't think of RIP, really unfortunate. PRIMA and PRIMAL are both more standard. I felt my position was very good still, even considering SEGO plays. I didn't want to give up bingoes with PRIMA/L. I would also prefer PRIMA to PRIMAL to offset bingoes, since I can outscore them with primal plays next turn. I considered BICE and BICEP, but I like neither of them. He has an S often enough I think, making it too big a spot to leave open, both for bingoes and just getting outscored. I think RIP is my favourite play, since PRIMA has a lot of ways it can go wrong still, and my feeling is that my position is good enough. It will be hard to win if I get none of SZ?, but PRIMA/L have other issues like bingoes and forks with PA plays
>Joey_Krafchick_(A4): ADESTVZ O2 DEV +22 324
>Jackson_Smylie_(A2): AEENNRY 13H NE +11 355
#note at this point I should be playing RYA 11b. that blocks the SEGO spot, which is now a threat for me. the R is also not so dangerous with 3 in the pool, and especially since Joey has a knack for keeping scoring tiles so his DEV range is less bingoey than one might expect. this sets up AY above, but that may not be enough to consistently outrun SEGO plays #strategymedium

#note big oversight here. I should plaly FA/AI, which I rejected because of the easy parallels it gives back. however, if I took a closer look I would realize that all of Joey's responses will give back an even bigger parallel to me. TIE wil give TIER, TIL TILE, TIN TINE, TIP TIPI, TIT TITI. same with FAN FAR FAT giving E hooks. #tacticslarge

#note only the blank draw can ever technically win. it's a lot worse for spread to play AIR, but it does make his win with my P draw hard, he has to find yE(Z) assuming I can properly execute the other endgames. that being said spread was a factor here, and my gut told me only the blank was gonna win, so I didn't want to play AIR or RIN or anything cause they give back a lot of bingoes that will be bad for spread. I could have done a lot differently this game to convert it to a win!
