#player1 Alec Alec Sjoholm
#player2 Carl Carl Johnson
>Alec: IMOOSTY 8G TOYO +14 14
#note 8H OY is best, followed by 8G YO. TOYO sets up my S on column K, but it is fairly likely for Carl to have an N or S with which to use the spot; and OY and YO have better equity than TOYO. #strategymedium
>Carl: BCEORSU K6 BESCOUR +80 80
>Alec: AEIILMS 12I MI.I +12 26
#note This is a bad play: it blocks row 12 and the BESCOURS hook, opens a D/N hook that I don't have, and scores only 12 points. Quackle strongly prefers 9F LIMA, which keeps the highest-scoring lanes open and scores 21 points. I like J2 MILIA, which scores the same as LIMA and keeps a better leave. #strategymedium
>Carl: ENNRSTV M10 VENT +21 101
>Alec: AEILLST L1 TALLIES +72 98
#note I am behind after my bingo, so I should play TAILLES instead to float another distinct letter. #tacticssmall
>Carl: EENRSTW 10J W. +13 114
>Alec: AGHNOPY 2J HO.GY +40 138
#note 1J PYTHON doesn't give back a hotspot/high-scoring bingo lane on row 1. #findingmedium
>Carl: EEINRST 1E INTERES. +81 195
>Alec: AAADENP 2B PANDA +27 165
#note Yes, I saw 2A PANADA, and I absolutely should have played it--it scores better, keeps better, turns over one more tile for the blanks, and creates a high-scoring lane on column A, which I may need because I am behind. #strategymedium
>Carl: ?CINNOT D2 .ONToNIC +70 265
#note Robin mentioned that making the first O the blank was probably a little better, and she is correct. -0.5 #strategysmall
>Alec: ?AAEGRS 13C GAStREA +73 238
>Carl: EFFKRWZ D12 W.FF +34 299
#note This is such an automatic play that how could there possibly be anything better? Well, I did look for better plays and missed them. KEFIR 8A, which scores a little more, takes out Column B, and-- most importantly, does not open a big scoring spot for my opponent. But a true wizard would have found FEZ H14, setting up the other F. The only other hook that could go there is a T, and there is < 20% chance that Alec drew it after GASTREA. (-15) #visionlarge
>Alec: DEEIIRT 3L .IED +21 259
#note C: In fact, Alec did draw the T, so good thing I'm not a wizard.
#note A: 3L LIE is best. The lane in column O is easier to use after LIE than after LIED, and the D is a useful bingo tile. #strategymedium
>Carl: EHKNRUZ 15D .UNKER +39 338
#note This was a careless mistake. I should have spent more time looking, because FURZE is way better than FUNKER, and if I'd bothered to think about it, I would have seen it. What I did see was that FUNKER set up something with the Z forming MAAR, and there were other good scoring spots for the Z. Also, it's possible, though not likely, that Alec will challenge FUNKER, which always looks a little uncertain. (-7) #focusmedium
>Alec: DEEIMRT G3 REMIT.ED +64 323
>Carl: AHLRUXZ F6 XU +52 390
#note I'm really surprized to see RAX F4 win the sim. I wanted to keep that RAZ combo for 14H. I suppose drawing the Q without that U is pretty bad, but I wouldn't think burning the R and the A would be worth it. (-5) #strategysmall
>Alec: AAEGIIP 4K A.GA +16 339
#note At this point I am running out of ideas. This partially blocks column O, though DE-words still play. Quackle likes F9 PIA. I like 12C AW, which fishes for O3 DIPLEGIA (2/17 chance to hit) while opening a distraction-lane on column B.
>Carl: ADHLQRZ 8A QAD. +42 432
#note (Edit-A: I accidentally deleted this and am rewriting from memory) I spent a while looking for bingos Alec could have from the Q; there aren't any.
>Alec: EIIOOOP 14D .OO +15 354
#note Drawing OOO killed any chance I had of winning this game. C2 APO has the best valuation; it blocks Carl's next play, and the pool is consonant-heavy, so I don't have to worry about keeping five vowels on my rack. #tacticslarge
>Carl: AEHJLRZ C1 H.J +44 476
#note RAJ is apparently better, despite breaking up RAZE 14H. I guess it's because HAJ takes the I hook, but I wouldn't think it would matter that much. Given the exact tiles that are in the bag, HAJ actually does quite a bit better than RAJ, but maybe RAJ usually wins by more. (-6?) #preendgamemedium
