#note Really confusing turn. Basically after EA I wanted whatever my play was here to limit the damage from AXE hooks. Sadly, I saw 10H NEAT and I guess didn't fully appreciate how effectively it accomplishes that task while keeping my vowel. #tacticsmedium
>Tijan: ADDE L9 DA.ED +14 40
#note There are some AXE hooks...
>Will: CDNORTW M7 CROW. +23 69
#note CROWN sims worst of the three reasonable options here (ROWND and DROWN same spot). I was no longer sure how close Tijan was to bingoing and played more defensively.
>Tijan: ABLY 13I BAL.Y +28 68
>Will: BDEINTT 8M .IB +15 84
#note Hated to not play on row 14 but those plays just get smashed compared to RIB. But there's a cool nuance I didn't really appreciate here; while plays like sim-winning 14E BITTED surely give up a few more points than RIB does, they actually decrease Tijan's bingo% quite a bit compared to RIB. That's because row 14 after BALDY is much easier to hit than row 15 after BITTED, and RIB also gives him a bonus floater of a B to play with. Quackle is pretty emphatic that this is a #strategymedium.

#note Should be POTED for better leave synergy. #tacticssmall
>Tijan: AKU 12D AUK +27 114
#note I accidentally wrote this down as 37. This matters for later.

>Will: ADHORST G7 O.H +30 200
#note DOCHT scores 3 more and, oddly, gives up fewer points despite not exposing a TWS to hit.

>Will: ADORSST 5A SAROD.ST +68 268
>Tijan: ENNO A1 NEON. +18 248
>Will: EIIQRTU H1 QUIR. +45 313
#note I played QUIRT because the pool was more than 2-1 consonants to vowels, and preferred EIT to IRT. Quackle suggests that the plays are equivalent defensively but that I still get a couple percentage points more bingos down with QUIET compared to QUIRT. #tacticssmall
>Tijan: EF 14M EF +26 274
>Will: EFILTTZ 2G F.TZ +36 349
#note I thought FUTZ was blockier and more flexible with the EILT leave than ZE and its FILTT leave. Quackle identifies a hilarious move here, however - C1 FILTRE leaving TZ. Any time I draw the O I get a simple AZO play for 63 that outruns any bingo, but there's more; most of Tijan's bingos here given this pool are bingos from the R of QUIRT that start with RE-, after which I retain a guaranteed TIZ for 44. Then I can also easily redraw ZE/OCHE for 40 with one of the Es. Very very cool play, but hard to find much fault with the more traditional FUTZ.
>Tijan: ?EEELSV 4H .ELiEVES +72 346
>Will: EHILMRT 3J ELM +22 371
#note OK, so once again, I think I'm down by 7 here instead of up by 3 thanks to misscoring AUK. Either way, Quackle CP doesn't think I can win here even with my extra 10 points that I don't know I have. Obviously, I'm supposed to block QUIRTS/SOJA, after which the simple, unmissable JO/JA 4D still wins a lot of the time. There's also C7 SAJOU and K3 JIAOS to worry about. I'm not really sure what I ought to have done here, but I resigned myself to gambling on misses of SOJA and SAJOU and make a play that could tie JO/JA...
>Tijan: AJOS 4D JA +39 385
>Will: HIRT N2 TH.IR +20 391
#note So after the game we found the 10 points from AUK and Tijan also went overtime and lost 10 points. A bit surprising but I happily took it and moved on. Final: 395-375.
