>Daniel_P: EKX H7 KEX +28 28
>Simon_W: ?CDEILT 8H .LiCITED +83 83
#note elicited, denticle or delicate all score the best. Other playable words with the versatile blank are dialect, deltaic, tickled or trickled.
>Daniel_P: AGOU K5 GUA.O +16 44
#note Guaco - a tropical plant
>Simon_W: EFRSTUZ 6J Z.RF +36 119
#note I wanted to play FUTZ through the T of ELICITED, but i wasn't 100% sure of it. It would have left me with REST which would be a very good building block for another bonus word next turn. I ended up choosing ZURF which scored well.
ZURF - a turkish coffee-cup holder.
>Daniel_P: MORSW N2 WORMS +43 87
>Simon_W: EENSTUY O1 YE +20 139
#note UEY - a U-turn, would have been a good play in the top right corner making WE & OY. This scores well (28) and also leaves good tile synergy on the rack - NEST.

I played YE for 20 after overlooking UEY.
>Daniel_P: AII I7 I.IA +23 110
#note Daniel probably has too many vowels on his rack, possibly 3 i's.

>Simon_W: EGNRSTU 3H STURGE.N +76 215
#note I drew the right tiles from the bag and played STURGEON quickly for 76.
>Daniel_P: AEINOPS 4C SENOPIA +75 185
#note SENOPIA or EPINAOS are playable bonus words from this rack. Daniel chooses the more defensive option rather than the higher scoring but highly dangerous option leaving the A below the Triple Word Score at H2.
>Simon_W: DEEILOT E3 E.TOILED +68 283
#note Lucky for me I pulled another bonus rack from the bag and spotted both playable bonus words - TOILETED and ENTOILED. I thought ENTOILED was safer for only 2 less points.
>Daniel_P: AGU 2J GAU +20 205
#note Daniel is playing off some clunky tiles.
>Simon_W: DFHOOTW F2 WH.OF +50 333
#note WHOOF - to make a deep snorting sound.
My favourite play of the game, a very good score and also a balanced leave of DOT. It puts me ahead by over one hundred.
>Daniel_P: AINPV D9 PAVIN +27 232
#note V is the 2nd worst tile in Scrabble so it is good to rid yourself of it as soon as possible.
>Simon_W: AADEEOT 11H ODEA +16 349
#note I'm aiming to rid my rack of some vowels and break up the double-A, double-E combo. ODEA/ILIAD does the trick.
>Daniel_P: IQ C12 QI +37 269
#note The most useful word in Scrabble is played. Useful because it helps rid us of the worst tile in Scrabble - Q.
>Simon_W: ABCENRT 10I .B +20 369
#note I was searching for a floating 'i' on the board to play BACTERIN - a vaccine derived from dead bacteria. I settled for playing a solitary B given there was a high chance of a bonus next turn with my rack leave of ACENRT.
>Daniel_P: ADL F10 DAL +17 286
#note mmmmm DAL.
>Simon_W: ACENRTY H11 .RACY +33 402
#note I knew this rack made NECTARY, which didn't fit on the board. What i didn't now is it also makes TRANCEY & ENCRATY which both play onto the end of DAL to make DALE or DALT.
I opted to score well with ORACY - skill in oral communication.
>Daniel_P: AEILRST N8 .ARLIEST +70 356
#note Daniel spent a bit of time thinking about this move. He told me afterwards that he wasn't sure whether DILATERS was right (it is) so he didn't want to risk playing it. It may have cost him the game as you will see my reply move to his play of EARLIEST next.
>Simon_W: EEIJNTU 15L JU.E +57 459
#note It took me less than 30 seconds to play JUTE - a strong, coarse fibre.
>Daniel_P: MO M13 MO. +20 376
#note Daniel is clearly setting up for a late bonus word play to try to snatch the game. He is avoiding playing in or near the C column and row 15 as these are his two best options for a bonus word to comeback and win.
>Simon_W: EHINNTV 15E ENV. +10 469
#note Having emptied the tile bag on the last turn, Daniel now has 7 tiles which I know to be BENORT? (? = blank). I can try to block his bonus word(s) or try to outscore him and win. His best place to bonus is through the S of SENOPIA but he can probably only score around 74 at best. On the other hand, he could score up to 95 with the right word ending in Y of ORACY. I calculate that if I can block the Y spot and score enough I will win the game narrowly even if he bonuses in the S spot. I chose ENVY to block that spot, but VEINY would have been higher scoring and given me a bigger margin.
>Daniel_P: ?BENORT C1 RiB.TONE +70 446
#note Daniel opts for RIBSTONE - an apple. Also playable is BURSTONE & RUBSTONE. There turned out to be no playable bonus word onto the Y and I won narrowly by 9 points.
