>gibson: ADIOV 8H AVOID +22 22
#note annotated by jackson on nov 23 2019 after hearing about david gibson's passing
>smylie: EFORSWY K7 W.FEY +28 28
>gibson: IQ 9G QI +23 45
#note this is likely a forced play, but it still starts his plan of closing the top left.
>smylie: BGGMORS J10 BOG +27 55
#note SMORG is worth considering, but this looks better for defense. I have an S and this makes the board quite S dependent.

>gibson: OZ J6 ZO. +37 184
>smylie: IORRSST 13I TSORRIS +73 170
#note a rare unchallenged phony! he held but let this go after saying something about not remembering which variants were good.
>gibson: AELNOT O7 ETALON. +24 208
>smylie: AOOPSUV E10 .OUP +16 186
#note I may want to consider OVA here at 14G. it forks open 3 really good lanes. He can score okay while blocking, but not that well. especially for the 15I lane. COUP is not ideal with the leave. the lane hooking AIR is not that good cause the tiles that go before it don't end words too easily. I think I'd do OVA if I could do it over but I'm not positive.
>gibson: DEFIL 14B FLIED +35 243
>smylie: AEEHOSV C10 HOVE. +22 208
#note it's either this or SOAVE. with ?? out and lots of tiles in the bag, I could play SOAVE and hope to outscore my way back into the game. this is the more aggressive route, trying to open a new lane.
>gibson: TX 6L T.X +26 269
>smylie: AAAEJSW 15F AWA +21 229
#note this is a key mistake that let him execute his restrictive plan. I think I need to play JAW/WAIR here to keep bingo prospects alive and to keep the B column and 15 row available. Q likes AWA but I think it's too optimistic, David will be (and was) far more defensive than the sim.
>gibson: MP 11B P.M. +8 277
>smylie: AEEJNRS 5K JE. +24 253
#note I'm not sure what to do here. something like NA(P) on the B column is the idea for the board, but getting rid of the J and staying within one bingo range is also really important. Only the H and L hook AIR now, but a blank draw could also be helpful. I don't love this play but there also doesn't seem to be a great option
>gibson: AEENNTT 12C .A.NT +24 301
>smylie: AEEENRS L8 .EE +14 267
#note I feel like NEE(P) is necessary at this point. after David blocks the 2 row, I am toast (after DEE). NEEP gets outrun a lot but I think I need to take my chances and open it up. I like NEEP best out of the plays on the left side for a couple reasons. the downside is that he can score better afer NEEP than REP or NAP, but his column A plays after NEEP will open the C column for me, whereas after NAP/REP he'll be able to not make a new lane. AERS is also the most likely leave to bingo. I think these considerations make it worth it to allow a few extra points with NEEP.

>gibson: EGY H1 G.EY +36 397
>smylie: AACDKRU L12 A.AK +26 328
#note the optimal endgame is to play one of C(R)UD or KA(P)A B9. He plays wHIN(Y) and ANE beliow it.
>gibson: ?AEHINN 15L .HAN +33 430
#note wHINY is best to block CURDY
>smylie: CDRU 4D CURD. +22 350
#note thank you for watching. I was really happy after this game, the defeat felt like a classic gibson shutdown. rest in peace DG
