#note played this quickly with the A on the star, hoping he might think I have an S. the U placement is obv preferable so he may not infer much. however, there is also something to be said for U on the star cause the Y will give good reoverlaps.

#note pretty range findy turn here. if he doesn't have an S, I'm wise to play I7 VAT, cause his range hits the A and Y pretty hard. With Ss, 11E VAT looks good, both to block some bingoes and to make his bingoes score less. I'm still allowing more than I6 VAT cause a lot of 7s will play on the I column anyways, but I'm also allowing myself to score better in response. I don't think he has many single vowel racks, he'll usually hav ea way to play more tiles. so I think a 3-2 C-V split is likely, but then does he ever have an A? AILNS or something is possible. I thought about EILNS and EILNT as well, both of which seemed possible. I ultimately decided that he had enough Ss in his range to make this placement worth it.

#note considered the dumb J setup of HONOR but that never works. could do HO to take out that spot... the J is terrible here but I didn't like any way of getting rid of it. maybe just TAJ now? I save HO in two spots. I also considered F1 CHINA to set up the j, but once again I'm just handing him ta lot of free points. Q likes HONOR best in a sim followed by OH. raises both our averages by a ton, I guess it has him playing elsewhere occasionally. it's true that at least HONOR works out really well when he bingoes or has to exchange, which is at least an upside 10% of the time.

#note I'm not in such a bad position here despite the J being terrible. I played this over NINJA at B9 or B11 cause I don't want to offer a huge free hotspot and because I have the small upside of drawing AJI or JILL at C7, which may also stay open for a few turns. happy with this despite Quackle's odd approval of ninja

#note really bad play, and I immediately felt terrible about the choice. the A is really important to keep here, possibly more important than shedding the J. D7 MI looks like the play, or even exchanging to reach for an S. he will often play at I9 and I will want a good scoring rack to respond, so the A is way better than the I.

#note didn't see UPWIND, may have played that! it's an open play but not so wildly aggressive. The pool is consonant heavy, so MNR doesn't work out so well too often. Q prefers LIMN on valuation and win percentage, but how will I win the game? I guess the S becomes a big tile at least, so maybe it's good just to fork the board and at least not let him score really well. I guess DRW isn't so much worse than MNR here and I prevent him from scoring a ton and starting to outrun bingoes

#note I guess so.... there aren't any good fishes for ENZYM or FRENZY. was hoping for an E draw and for a FEZ setup next turn, or of course an S

#note SENT is really interesting cause he blocks the best bingo lanes, sets up ASSENTOR with an R draw. however, I can hit triple triples myself quite often (SENT makes me average the most, despite only bingoing 2.8%). surely I will be forgoing some bingoes to triple triple, and if I have the blank I probably draw something a decent amount - BEE?, BER?, SER?, ORS?, CENO?, CENOR, ENOR?, CNOR?, CEOR?, CENR?, EER?, EEERRR? (for an awesome bingo), EMR? all hit triple triples. MYNAS sorta hopes we split bingoes and Matthew comes out on top - he will also be able to outrun a lot more Q sticks. However, he'll run into more situations where I bingo and he doesn't. the A really helps me out, jumping my bingo % from 14.5 to 22.8 (compared to OS). The Q is a really big tile here - getting Q stuck could be the game. Matthew can outrun some Q sticks but not all, especially if I hit a decent scoring play with WILDS or the Z. I no longer like SENT so much with all these triple triples I can have, and given the pool I don't think he needs to panic that I'll hit a bingo. FRY I think has a lot of consonants in my range, as with any vowel I'm gonna be hitting a 5 or any better play. so 1A OS looks okay, doesn't go all in on trading bingoes because it doesn't need to

#note he has a pretty strong rack with MYNAS, so I'm preparing for him to bingo fairly often. Lots of blanks from my perspective, given his willingness to open the board and not just block WILDS. I wanted to keep the H to make my bingoes score a lot - I'll need that if he bingoes immediately, as a small bingo + catching him with QZ won't quite cut it. I thought about HMS as well but I think I don't hit enough. Q thinks I average 100 next turn with HS! it wins a sim by a bit over S, and then a huge dropoff to MS. I guess I really need to draw a high point tile here, but MS sims way worse. I'm happy with this choice, since an HS bingo will be able to beat a lot of the bingoes he has and outrun extra Q sticks. I find it hard to be technical here cause of the sheer number of possibilities, but I think HS is a good balance to ensure my bingoes score well while not crippling my bingo chances.
>tunny: CEENOST 15D CENOTES +95 415
#note if I bingo using just 1 high point tile, something like BEEORS?, we'll tie. if I bingo with the H or higher as a high scoring tile (all on the O column), I will win. I could also win with 2 high scoring tiles, or by hitting the high scoring tile on the DLS (like SORBENTS). given my range is really strong after my exchange (I likely exchanged all the crap), I wonder if he can consider another play. Maybe you can pass in this position, and it gets meta really quickly. if he passes and I play a bingo, he will win. I may be inclined to forgo a bingo and try to score well and bingo out later (since I may assume that he is saving two bingoes and will beat any of my bingoes). however, he can still bingo back next turn anyways, hoping I draw some of the drek I threw back. Or even pass again next turn, using the same gambit of guaranteeing a bingo out. There is the issue of me blocking his bingo if he keeps passing, but I will inevitably draw the Q at some point and he still has a good lead for outrunning me. I may be overlooking something but passing seems strong
