>Matthew_Larocque: CHINOOO 8F ONO +6 6
#note Overall, day 4 had been a good day for me. I lost a close one against Bryan, where I at least tried to win, but fell short. This game however, was probably the worst that I had felt all tournament. CHINO is the only five, and thus only scoring play. I think it's more than worth playing, I just blew it here and didn't see it. OHO sets up COHO which also never even entered my mind.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: DEEFU 9E FEUED +19 19
>Matthew_Larocque: CGHIKLO E9 .LOCK +28 34
#note There's also 7G GHI, but after that I'm basically hoping FLOCK stays open, so might as well just play that now.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: AAELORU 10I AUREOLA +64 83
>Matthew_Larocque: GHIINVV O7 VIV. +30 64
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: OOW 10B WOO. +15 98
>Matthew_Larocque: EGHIIN M9 H.EING +28 92
#note Missed rack, but I know that I was debating between HOEING in either spot or HIKING. I feel like HIKING left me with a slightly worse leave. Actually, the only thing that makes sense is having two Es here. Leave evaluator says EE is actually better than EI by a slim margin. 13C HIKE or HIKING are favoured, and I must have missed L8 HIEING which blocks the 2x2, which HOEING doesn't.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: AEMSTY K5 MASTE.Y +48 146
>Matthew_Larocque: AEIITTU J5 ETUI +18 110
#note Given the board, he was likely going to bomb this TLS anyways, so the fact that it closes letters off didn't seem like such a Scrabble sin.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: HPT 12L P.TH +26 172
>Matthew_Larocque: AADIRST 13C DA. +16 126
#note Maybe I need to bite the bullet and play 9B AD. It just felt like it would diminish my bingo to give him an easy 30 points; the board isn't ripe for scoring. So I might as well hope for an E to underlap DAK.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: III -III +0 172
>Matthew_Larocque: ABIIRST 14M .IB +12 138
#note Maybe C8 BIO just to make sure I have some kind of backup.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: ENZ L4 ZEN +32 204
>Matthew_Larocque: AEIRSTW 14B WAISTER +94 232
#note Only word that plays.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: AFT H12 FA.T +33 237
>Matthew_Larocque: EGNNOSY 15A GOY +33 265
#note F6 GOOEY is 40, and I must not have realized adding the S here is an 10 extra points. Am I going to get 10 extra points out of it later?
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: III -III +0 237
>Matthew_Larocque: ELLMNNS 13G M.LL +17 282
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: CDU I3 CUD +16 253
>Matthew_Larocque: AENNRRS 2I SNARER +23 305
#note Well, the S kind of helped me out here. I never even considered fishing, against Bradley I just wanted to grind out a win. My spread was mediocre anyways. Both blanks out too.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: AIJ C7 JIA. +20 273
>Matthew_Larocque: BDGNNRR 8A BR.G +27 332
#note Instead of DRIB because that D is way too useful for him.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: EX 1N EX +29 302
>Matthew_Larocque: ADINNQR A6 AR. +5 337
#note Here's where the torture began. I let myself suffer until I had like 30 seconds left. So the whole time I'm thinking: I have to get rid of this Q. I also need to block the C, because with what's left I'm sure Bradley will find something. But how can I effectively block the C and float my I so that I have a chance to play QI? It's not working. Can I eat the Q and still win? No idea, but I don't think so. Why does the stupid Q have to ruin this game??? Okay, okay... can I at least make a setup so I can play QI next turn? Sigh... ARB? at least ARB doesn't have great hooks so it'll be hard for him to get an easy seven. I'm really about to score 5 points with a garbage leave just to get this Q off my rack. I can't believe this. I'm ahead by 30, but this Q is laughing at me telling me HAHA SUCKA YOU LOSE!
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: ?EEIIST 5A dEITIES +67 369
#note Not only did I give him a bingo when he had nothing, my mind must have already dismissed VIVA from the game since you can't parallel play beside it. That's it. I missed QI. But it gets worse; I also had TRANQ! Wow. I was so obsessed with him bingoing to the C, perhaps I should have realised it was a lost cause right away and focused on searching the board 100%.
>Matthew_Larocque: ?DINNPQ - +0 337
#note Since I left myself with zero time on this turn, and didn't even recognize DARB, I painfully challenge the play. I have one winning play here, and it wins by one point!
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: O O12 .O. +8 377
#note BO is 12.
>Bradley_Whitmarsh: (?DINNPQ) +36 413
#note The win was PIQUED B1.
