>Mina: ?EFGGHS 8G FEG +14 14
#note Straightforward opening. Second-best is 8H FEG which is interesting because triple bingos to or from an F are harder to hit and because you hold the -S hook for column K.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: LMY 9F LYM +28 28
>Mina: ?CGHSTX -GHX +0 14
#note Aha, this turn poses an interesting puzzle of leave valuation: which exchange do you choose? I had opted to exchange GHX keeping ?CST, but to my great surprise that only sims sixth-best. Quackle prefers exchange GTX keeping ?CHS, followed by exchange GX keeping ?CHST. Of course, that presumes you know your CH bingos, and I know I haven't studied that far yet.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: EKNORSZ J2 ZONKERS +100 128
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: EKNORSZ -- -100 28
#note His best move is J8 SOZ for 40.
>Mina: ?CDEEST J2 DEjECTS +77 91
#note It's correct that DEjECTS is the best bingo to choose (because the J is harder to play through than other letters)... wwwwwhen you have no idea what his rack is. If you do know that his rack is ZONKERS, then Quackle points out that J6 DESCEnT is better, even though it scores four fewer points, because it avoids the double-double that came next. However, that would have required some awfully convoluted thinking, and he had such a strong rack in any case, that I've got no regrets about picking "the equity play" and conserving my mental effort for later.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: EKNORSZ 5E REZON.S +64 92
>Mina: EIOQTUW 4A QUITE +50 141
#note I disagree with Quackle here. It prefers 6F WO 37 keeping EIQTU, saying that its dynamic valuation is 1.5 points better than the dynamic valuation of my play of QUITE. While I understand that the letters in QUITE have some synergy, the chances you'll draw a QUITE bingo seem awfully low. And I don't think that an immediate play of QUITE is defensively erroneous, either, given that he just turned over six tiles so his rack is quite random.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: BEKOR H1 REBO.K +39 131
#note Ooh, the same letters would have scored nine more points with H1 BERK(O), a word I didn't know (it's an adjective).
>Mina: DGLOOTW B2 WO.LD +26 167
#note Oh wow wow wow, a bingo was available, but I didn't know C3 G(I)LTWOOD! And then I just plain missed the next-best move, 6F WO(K) for 42. Didn't know the third- and fourth-highest-simming plays, F2 GOD(E)T or C2 TW(I)GLOO. The latter is hilariously a portmanteau of twig and igloo! WOULD places fifth.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: OW 6F WO. +42 173
#note And that's what happens when you miss WO(K): your opponent takes it.
>Mina: CGHIOTU A6 OUGHT +30 197
#note Second-best play, after A6 OUCHT which I didn't know.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: ?AAAIRS C6 AbRASIA +61 234
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: ?AAAIRS -- -61 173
#note AcRASIA, AkRASIA, ARAlIAS (blank is an L).
>Mina: BCIIINT 2J .INIC +16 213
#note My play sims second-best. Quackle prefers 3B (O)BI, scoring four points more, even though it keeps two I's. I would've thought it better to score four fewer points and keep one I instead of two, but the lesson here is that there's synergy in CIINT, given that the dynamic valuation of OBI is 9.5 points above that of DINIC.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: ?AAAIRS B9 AA +13 186
>Mina: BEIOOTU C9 OUBIT +26 239
#note Good, my play sims best.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: ?AFIRS D12 FAIR +28 214
>Mina: DEEEINT A1 EE +11 250
#note Oops. Quackle tells me my fish isn't high-scoring enough. It says to play 3H (B)E(E)TED for 30 keeping EIN (one of those difficult-to-see plays) or else 15D (R)ENIED for 21 keeping ET, and it says that if you're gonna fish, the preferred options are B12 DEE for 18 (smart because it blocks triple-triples) or I8 (G)EE for 15.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: ?AEILSU 15B AU.IcLES +71 285
#note He missed his triple-triple, SpIRULAE, hard to see here, as well as the higher-scoring bingoes on column O.
>Mina: DEINTVY M2 .VY +18 268
#note Hmm, I made the second-best play. F4 D(EW)Y for 27 is preferred because it scores so much more, 27 versus 18, even though EINTV is not as good a leave as DEINT. The dynamic valuations of the two plays are only one point apart, at least.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: AHP 3B .PAH +34 319
>Mina: DEEINTV 14I EVIDENT +90 358
#note I was proud of myself for finding the bingo in this rack, given that I've never studied it as an alphagram -- it's in the 3000s probability.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: AILNPRS M8 PRALIN.S +72 391
>Mina: ADGMNOR N10 MO +22 380
#note It looks bad now: I'm down by 33 points with 3 tiles in the bag. Of course, I am well aware that there is a floating I and I hold an -NG for -ING bingos. Since the last S has been played off, which means I can no longer hope to pluralize DINIC, fishing for -ING bingos is the way to go, and that's why my play sims fourth-best. Quackle prefers a one-tile fish such as 4A (QUITE)D for 23, but I like my clever play of MO because it preserves the -ING lane while also setting up another bingo lane on column O.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: AJO O12 JA.O +57 448
#note But the nail in the coffin comes down.
>Mina: ADGNNRR 4L R.ND +20 400
#note And I didn't draw well. Best play here is K10 GRAD(I)N but I didn't know it. I found the second-best play.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: AEITX O6 AXITE +41 489
#note Oh how convenient that he can play out in the spot I set up.
>Manop_Phiphatboonserm: (AGNR) +10 499
