#player2 cesar cesar
>alec: AAEELSZ H8 SLEAZE +50 50
#note I remembered to open vertically this time! ZEALS is better because it doesn't have lucrative hooks. #tacticssmall
>cesar: ?AAGILU 12C ALGUA.Il +84 84
#note #largeknowledge
>alec: AAMRSXY I11 M.X +41 91
#note 13A MAX gives back a lot on column A and row 14, but there is already a lot of scoring potential on this board, and MAX unloads one of my A's and scores one more point. #strategysmall
>cesar: AEINOOT 14I TOONIE +29 113
>alec: AACRSTY O12 CYST +43 134
#note I took the points and defense, but AAR is a bad leave, I'm slightly behind, there are two good S spots (TOONIES and ALGUAZILS), and I know Cesar did not keep an S. I should play 13A CAY and go for a bingo. #strategymedium
>cesar: AEFHIOU E9 FAU.H +24 137
#note wow, this is a plain bad play. i don't think i even looked that long, FAUGH seemed obvious to me. but surely 13L AHOY for 34 is great, and E10 FUGIO looks good too. -10 #findinglarge
>alec: ?AAADIR D4 ARcADIA +75 209
>cesar: EEGIIOO -EGIIOO +0 137
#note OORIE probably, exchanging is an overreaction. i didn't want to block the R. -11 #strategylarge
>alec: BCFNSTT M13 F.B +16 225
#note I think I liked that FIB blocks the L column, but it's a lousy block considering that it keeps five consonants and that I could potentially use ALGUAZIlS later for the same purpose. C11 FACT is best despite opening a high-scoring lane on row 15 for the unseen AAS. I like 7C FACT, Quackle's second choice. #strategymedium
>cesar: DEIOPVW G11 P.VID +39 176
#note probably worth sacrificing some points to keep a better leave; G12 AVOW for 8 fewer keeps a better leave of DEIP. -2 #tacticssmall
>alec: CNNSTTU C11 C.NT +12 237
#note K8 CUNTS is clearly best. I tunneled on blocking row 15 and am not sure I even noticed ALGUAZILs. #visionlarge
>cesar: AELOOTW 8A WOO. +24 200
#note cant takes an O. sigh. i'm probably just going to quit scrabble. -7.5 #knowledgemedium
>alec: EHNSTUY 6D .HUTNEYS +73 310
>cesar: AEEIKLT F14 KI +35 235
#note A: Cesar played TEALIKE at E9 before realizing it formed EY*.
>alec: ABENTUV 5B BU.AN +26 336
#note BURAN is the pure equity play, but 5H UNBE handily wins the sim. There are up to 5 E's in the bag and no A's, and UNBE blocks column K and scores one more point. #tacticsmedium
>cesar: AEEEILT H1 LATEE. +21 256
#note i laid down eide / elide, which have significantly better leaves, but i'm fairly sure that LATEEN is the better play. quackle is probably wrong here. it is very easy for Alec to block up the whole bottom right of the board after i do EIDE and then i just automatically lose. at least this gives me a shot. -10 but not really. i rule at Scrabble. not a mistake.
>alec: EEIJRTV J2 JIVE. +34 370
>cesar: DEEIORS A8 .EIRDOES +92 348
#note see?
>alec: ENORRTW 3H .W.NER +26 396
#note K6 STROWN is best, blocking bingos on rows 8 and 9. Plays in the B7 area also do well. #tacticsmedium
>cesar: IILMOPR 15E M..I +21 369
#note i kind of gave up on finding the best way to win here. i'm not totally sure how to do it. it probably involves him having the Q. like - i'm going to lose anyway, so i shouldn't be trying to avoid the Q, just assume he has it and open up another lane and hope to draw for a miracle. i saw something like 2L MOI could lead to LEPORID, for example, but that seems easily blockable. 15L IM(ID)O is looking best here. #strategysmall
>alec: EOOQRRT 4J .OTER +24 420
#note VOTE is probably better, giving me another tile to slow-play with. #tacticssmall
>cesar: DGILOPR 7C P. +14 383
#note A: This may be the most complicated endgame I've ever played, with possibilities such as ONO - DONORS on column K, LOB - GLOB or OBE - LOBE - GLOBE on column B, AN - ANGLE or AR - ARGLE on row 4, and BIT - OBIT - PROBIT on row 15. PA appears to lose by 2, and Quackle doesn't find anything better.
#note C: quackle says N13 LEI wins, but it doesn't actually. it are broken.
>alec: EGNOQR 2J .OG +18 438
>cesar: DGILOR 9C D.. +17 400
#note C: i think i lost it here. this is how to do well at nationals; find the winning play. i cashed in my D too early. i can have that spot later (if he blocks it i have AD/DAH too). i need to play at N13 so that he can't play there!! i was low on time, only about 3 minutes, but i didn't do a good enough job here :( -- the winning play is N13 REI #endgamelarge (it's a small error point-wise, but it loses the game)
#note A: Actually, REI loses by 2 after I play E4 RAH. (-6)
>alec: ENQR 13M .R. +11 449

>alec: EQ B5 .E +6 463
>cesar: GLR 5H .R. +5 423
>alec: Q 10A .Q +31 494
>alec: Q -- -31 463
#note I saw QI but I was reading upside-down. ;-)
>cesar: GL I5 ..G +6 429
>alec: Q - +0 463
>cesar: L 10D ..L +5 434
#note well i played the last few moves perfectly, but not the one that mattered. i don't think i'll ever be good enough to figure out an endgame like this.
