#player1 Nigel Nigel
#player2 JD JD
>Nigel: CDEINST H7 CID +12 12
#note again, I would say that this is Nigel reacting to tournament situation. Going into this game, Nigel needs to not lose by more than 165. Exchanging the C or D sims best in a vacuum, but CID immediately promotes a more defensive board (I'm not going to immediately bingo with BEZIQUE for 124 or equivalent).
>JD: DEGLNTU 10H ENGLUT +18 18
#note took me awhile but I'm 100% confident this is the play - forks the board beautifully, leaving my D for CIDED and also opening up the right cide (apologies for pun)
>Nigel: ?AEENST K4 mANTEE.S +78 90
>JD: AADEIPU L1 PAUA +20 38
#note given the ultra-defensive play of Nigel so far in the match, he'll cover the triple-triple if his life depends on it - but that'll buy me time to hit one of the other lanes.
>Nigel: AAILMOO 1J LI.OMA +30 120
>JD: DEIIQRT G8 QI +27 65
>Nigel: AEHNOOW 2L .NOW +29 149
>JD: DEEEIRT 3N EE +13 78
#note maybe EE at J6 to keep the S hook on ENGLUTS open and prevent Nigel from scoring to the TWS as easily
>Nigel: AEFHMOS M8 FA.HOM +30 179
>JD: DEGIIRT 8M .IG +21 99
>Nigel: ENOSTTT 12L T.OT +10 189
#note de-fense de-fense de-fense
>JD: DEIILRT N12 .IL +10 109
#note I'm obviously in terrible shape at this point, so if I want a chance of making up 255 points (!!!) I have to play in a very, very volatile manner and go for an S here!
>Nigel: ?EENRST 15H RETENeS +75 264
#note I have no idea what nigel was doing here
>JD: DEFIRTV 11C FERVID +35 144
>Nigel: DEEGLOR 10B LODE +17 281
#note does exactly what nigel wants - blocks all the lanes at bottom-left, and even sets up the last G (GLODE).
>JD: AJRTUWY D8 JA..RY +50 194
#note does awful things to the board, but whatcha gonna do
>Nigel: EGNPRRY 13C R.PER +22 303
#note nice play, doubling down on the GLODE hook and covering some less likely lanes like row 14.
>JD: BOSTUWX 14E OX +54 248
>Nigel: AAGIKNY 8A KAN.I +48 351
#note around this point, I checked Nigel's score, and he announced that the score was 516-248. Since this bore no resemblance to my score, I was perplexed until I realized that he had given himself the 165 to start the game. this then required recounting the entire game to figure out a scoring error along the way. oops.
>JD: BISTUWZ 14I WUZ +37 285
>Nigel: AGNRSVY 15A GRAVS +44 395
>JD: BHIOSTU B7 T. +2 287
#note it's ovar! I should just give up and play BUTOHS (only thought of BUTOH), but instead decided to fish for BUSHIDO in two spots because why the hell not
>Nigel: BCDINOY J8 YO.IC +20 415
#note guess he wasn't worried about me having BEAUISH here. he knows pool is all vowels, otherwise no way I would've played off a T here (the last 1-point consonant besides the S). So BDN has a good shot of going out.
>JD: BEHIOSU O5 BOU.IE +9 296
#note saw BANNED and BANGED, didn't see his third out.
>Nigel: ABDEN 4G BEAD..N +10 425
>Nigel: (HS) +10 435
