>Jim_Burlant: EFILLMN 8E FILM +18 18
#note Never thought of FILLE 8D, but this isn't a bad choice either. FILLE wins the sim, and this is a mild dog (3 pts) in the sim.

#note A common theme this tournament was that, no matter how well I would balance racks, I would draw either (a) heavy counter combinations that were asynergistic with whatever board I had, or (b) an otherwise promising rack would repeatedly get torpedoed by duplicated one-point tiles. I saw this, saw the IR leave and wasn't too worried about the S hook it created considering the easy line there was down the J column. Quackle says FUNNIER is slightly better, but the shocker to me is that it thinks NULL G6 for all of 6 points is best of all. This is less than a 2-point dog to NULL, fwiw.
>Peter_Schwartzman: KX 12D K.X +28 55
#note It begins.
>Jim_Burlant: ACEIRRV J3 CARVE +23 59
#note Another rack ruined by a duplicated R. No 8's in this. Score-wise I don't give up much of anything with this play, and I don't know that I like Quackle's recommendation much here. Its first choice is VIRAL 13A for 22. Admittedly the V isn't the worst thing to throw in the triple line, but I still have a hard time justifying opening a triple when I can score comparably and not do that. The duck thinks this choice is a 3-point dog to its runner up, J2 ARRIVE, presumably due to the leave and maybe putting the I at J5 instead of the R? I dunno. I don't know that this is great, but I dispute Quackle's assertion that this is the 3-1/2 point dog that it says it is. YMMV. Then again, given the tiles I drew, I suspect nothing I did here was going to matter.

>Jim_Burlant: ADIPRUU L3 PU.A +26 85
#note I gave serious consideration to CUPID 3J, as it would have added some resistance to the O column and set up PUJA on the next turn. However, I incorrectly had CUPID scoring 18 points when I evaluated the position (it scores 20). Because of this I felt that CUPID gave up a hair too much on the scoreboard to justify it instead of PUJA. CUPID tops a sim, and PUJA wins 0.6% less often at a 1-point equity deficit. In hindsight, CUPID looks an awful lot better than this:
>Peter_Schwartzman: AHOZ N2 AZO.H +50 131
>Jim_Burlant: DIIIORU O6 IRID +20 105
#note Yuck. IOU is no prize as leaves go, but I felt like I couldn't turn down 20 points if I was turning 4 tiles and leaving myself 3 unique letters. Statically, the kibbitzer thinks I'm foolish for playing through. And it takes a sim a while to sort itself out, but this is best. 19% to win...but not for long.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ?AAEILR N8 AERIALs +71 202
>Jim_Burlant: INORRSU 3G URI. +8 113
#note I didn't think INSUROR* was going to fly, and I couldn't find an 8 (useful factoid: INORRSU does not make an 8 with any letter of the alphabet). I wanted to unload the U and one of the R's without shutting the board down on myself, which is why I didn't look very hard for O12 plays. O12 NOIR wins a sim at just above 8% winning chances. This wins 6 at a huge equity deficit. The consolation: it wouldn't have mattered; no matter what I did here, he was going to bingo on his next turn.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ?AAORSV 4A VArROAS +78 280
#note Nice find! Other optoins include 14A VAVASOR and SAMOVAR in various locations.
>Jim_Burlant: EGNOQRS I2 Q. +11 124
#note When it rains, it pours. I get the Q after dumping a bunch of U's and I have to dump it for 11. It's either that or exchange GQ or GOQ.
>Peter_Schwartzman: EEGI A4 .EGIE +27 307
>Jim_Burlant: EGNORST C2 ST.ONGER +72 196
#note The 7, TONGERS, is probably better at K7. Regardless, this game is over except for the final score.
>Peter_Schwartzman: DIPY E2 PY.ID +22 329
>Jim_Burlant: ABNNSTW O1 SNAW +55 251
#note I've doubled my winning chances; I'm back up to 0.58% winning chances.
>Peter_Schwartzman: GHOTU K7 TOUGH +24 353
>Jim_Burlant: BCDIMNT 13E .IMB +20 271
#note Just moving tiles at this point. I know that the B column isn't going to stay alive much longer - if at all - and it will take too long to clean this crap out. Quackle wants me to play 12M CAB. Whateever.
