#player2 Dave_Leifer Dave Leifer
>Avery: AEIOOTZ H6 ZOO +24 24
#note Eh, OOZE is probably fine, but the E seemed to be worth keeping. I should have played this one spot down probably, though.
>Dave_Leifer: ADIIR I5 RADII +27 27
>Avery: AEIIORT 5I .ATIO +10 34
#note Certainly goes against how I'd usually play (exchanging), but I know Dave likes to keep the board pretty tight, so a volatile play seems fine here, given that my other options are pretty bad. I also considered ZOOTIER, but the leave seemed pretty weak given the kind of play I expect Dave to make. I do concede a lot of points after this, but for long-term board shape, I think I'm fine with biting the bullet and hoping he doesn't slam me.
>Dave_Leifer: CEG J4 C.GE +32 59
>Avery: ?AEIPRT M2 PRI.rATE +72 106
#note Can't really play on column N without giving back potentially massive scores, so I did this to keep the top alive and also have columns L and N open. The triple at O8 isn't so easy to hit.
>Dave_Leifer: DIOT 8K DI.TO +21 80
>Avery: AAEFIMN L3 AM.A +23 129
#note Lots to consider here. I saw ZOOMANIA but it's way too reckless - an S bingo hurts a ton, and with a tempo advantage now, I felt okay keeping the board controlled. I didn't see 9F FAMINE, but I considered AMIA, AMIE and CAMI. I definitely mis-estimated how bad AEFIN was, so I thought keeping EFIN was worth sacrificing 3 points instead of playing CAMI. The upside to this is that I take out the main scoring spot on this board at L4, and I set up FET or FIT in reserve for 30 points, which is big on a closed board. I'd do FAMINE if I saw it, but since I set up FIT, I think I like AMIA over CAMI.
>Dave_Leifer: AAEEINT J9 TAENIAE +63 143
>Avery: EFIINNN 15G NIN. +12 141
#note 9D INFINITE is fun, but I think I have to address the triple. Not that I saw INFINITE.
>Dave_Leifer: EEPV 14E VEEP +17 160
#note He kept the Q here.
>Avery: EFINTXY 13I F.XITY +46 187
#note I saw him drop the Q on the table, so I had to pause to make sure my tracking was right. Surprisingly, there's only one I unseen, so QI is a pretty remote possibility.
>Dave_Leifer: AW K11 WA. +38 198
>Avery: EEGHNOR L10 REG.ON +30 217
#note I didn't see 12H NONAGE, which seems better since I don't want to go onto a completely closed board against Dave. N1 HOER is also 30 points, but it concedes too many points.
>Dave_Leifer: BEH N6 BE.H +32 230
>Avery: DEHNORV N1 VOE +23 240
#note All 4 S's are unseen, so I have to block potentially big plays, especially knowing he has the Q. I was very willing to play this over HOED since he can hit me hard at O1 and then I've lost my tempo on this board.
>Dave_Leifer: ELOQSUU G11 QUE.. +15 245
>Avery: DFHNRSS N12 R.ND +16 256
#note The S's are welcome here. I'm not in a rush to play something like 10N SH.
>Dave_Leifer: JL 11I J...L +15 260
>Avery: BFHISSW 12F F.B +11 267
#note Going all in here for a closed board.
>Dave_Leifer: ENU 9G UN..E +22 282
>Avery: HIKSSSW O3 SKI +16 283
#note KIS is a little better. I was trying to block the AREA spot and set up another reasonable scoring option (SKIS).
>Dave_Leifer: C 7G C... +10 292
>Avery: DEHSSSW 10N SH +19 302
#note Well, I have all the S's all of a sudden. Just grabbing at more points.
>Dave_Leifer: A 4J .A.. +10 302
>Avery: DERSSTW 3K W.... +14 316
#note If he doesn't have the blank, this becomes a nightmare to block.
