Player 1
#player1 Steve Steve
#player2 Jason Jason
>Steve: ?ABEOSU -OU +0 0
#note Championship player says BOUSE, slightly ahead of BEAU at 8G; a2k 2 ply sim says this is the bes of the exchanges, but about three percent behind the suggested plays in winning chances (55-52).
>Jason: BEINOVZ 8D BIZONE +40 40
#note ZINEB best
>Steve: ?ABEOST J5 BOASTEd +80 80
#note 2x2 OBEISaNT or H8 (N)OTABLES score six more points.
>Jason: DEEHPUV K4 PEH +29 69
#note Duck likes UPD(I)VE or UPH(O)VE. This is a point behind the highest scoring play of VEEP or EDH. btw Thanks to Jason for providing his rack leaves.
>Steve: AASSTUX D3 SAXTU.AS +84 164
#note This would have won the prize for low probability natural 8, if only I thought to enter it into the contest. One of many mistakes I made over the weekend.
Isn't it the saxtuba that plays the wahwahwaaa failure rif?
>Jason: ?DEIUUV E4 DUI +31 100
#note best
>Steve: GLMNOPR L2 PROG +28 192
>Jason: ?AEIRUV H7 U.VARIEd +61 161
>Steve: AEJLMNN 9B JN.NA +26 218
>Jason: ACEISTY 2L .YA +16 177
#note Setting up the case S. Duck is even more aggressive, playing (P(Y)IC.
>Steve: EEIILLM K9 ELEMI +20 238
>Jason: ACEISTY 3L .AY +27 204
#note Has this ever happened to you? Jason plays off two letters, and gets the same two letters back.
>Steve: CGILRTT 13C GLITT.R +20 258
>Jason: CDEIIST L12 ETIC +28 232
#note L12 ID slightly.
>Steve: CFGLNVW E11 FL.NG +18 276
>Jason: DEIMOOS 10A MOO. +21 253
#note The other option is the hyper aggressive DOOM at C1, but Jason's play wins the sim.
>Steve: ACEOUVW C2 VOW +29 305
#note 15A COWA(G)E. I'm not going to forget this word anytime soon after this tournament. (See my first game against Kopczack).
>Jason: DEEIIST 15L .EDI +21 274
>Steve: ACDEIRU 1A READ +31 336
#note After playing a fairly strong game, this is where I start to come apart. I put the best play down IRADE at 1A and then picked it up because I wasn't more than 75 percent sure it was acceptable and I couldn't afford to play a phony. The anagram DEAIR also would have been better than my choice. Didn't see it.
>Jason: ADEILST M7 DETAILS +83 357
#note REDTAILS even though it scores three less, since, theoretically, it gives back less to an opponent who knows how to win.
>Steve: CEEIRUW N14 E. +6 342
#note The easiest path to winning is to score points, because the player with the most points wins. I got caught up in the likelihood Jason had the Q on his rack with only one place to dump it. The fallacy is if I score 33 with WEER, WERE, or even WEIR at L8, his eleven points for QI becomes inconsequential. And if the Q is in the bag I have flexibility with the case U and case I.
>Jason: FHKNNOR 8L K.RN +39 396
#note Jason has several winning plays now. I'll leave it up to those who care about such things why the duck likes 8L K(E)F the best. KERF scores the most.
>Steve: CEIORUW N8 .OW +29 371
>Jason: FHNOQ 1N HO +24 420
>Steve: CEIRU F7 I..R +15 386
>Jason: FNQ 6I F.. +9 429
>Steve: CEU F2 CUE +19 405
#note A shame to throw this game away, after playing well for a good portion of it, and it probably cost me the tournament. Win this one and I don't have to play the No. 1 seed again in the next game, more than likely, and I only have to win one of my next two games to seal the deal.
