#note AKLP is a definite improvement over AGLP, but statically only 3.4, not 6. I figured this was the case, but I really liked VLOG here for other reasons - I feel like the K has more power over the G on this board (14a plays, 13 row plays), but especially I liked to not give back the easy S hook on VOLK 4D - that S spot doesn't go away, and it's a pesky way to score 40+ points for the rest of the game, and I'd rather not have that. VOLK beats VLOG in a sim by about 1.6 but I'm happy with this.
13B VLOG is okay as well to encourage overlaps on the D and F column - even though michael gets first crack and likely gets the better scoring spot, my rack is more conducive than his. however I like complicating things with VLOG and taking away easy scoring plays.

#note again opting for a more complicated board and one that is easier for me to control - KOALA is a bit more standard, although the L really helps ABP, valuation-wise it's not worth the 6 point sacrifice to play KOA over KOALA. However, the 14 row is really really hard to block effectively, and it's a threat I do not want lingering, because I feel more comfortable outmanoeuvring on a tight board. If the difference were 10 points or something I'd definitely take KOALA though (it wins a sim by about 4)

#note I think this is the play no matter what, but I remember being unrighteously happy with it - I saw the prospect of SPEC 10K next turn with a likely E draw, setting up my case S unblockably. this was awesome and gonna basically seal the game, but I forgot about the T hook on SPEC. Still, qat is the play, lots of vowels in the pool so my outrunning chances are really good. I can still draw some other setups on row 10 though.

#note Hmmm
I didn't see MINXES which is pretty cool. A big issue here is the Z, which is a real threat for outscoring (8a, 2L). It's very very unlikely he kept the Z last turn.
I noticed SPECT now so I was uneasy with letting him have the T hook half the time (no reason to think he has or doesn't have the T here - it's slightly more than half because there are a couple other letters he cannot have with ROOD).
I played PEC because it only takes an H, and he would have played HOOD if he had an H last turn, so he's only 4/11 to draw the H. I also expect he could miss it a certain amount of the time, so I probably get to use the setup 70% of the time. I may not zlways outrun ZOO plays at 8a, but I will much more consistently than with other plays. As well, if he does have the H, he may not get a great play there, and I may be able to set up the Ss again next turn.
