#note EPR is probably fine here as well, I wanted to get rid of som extra tiles to draw hooks for MIX and VUG and REV.

BLEB is probably fine here. I really hated the Q, and with my lead I want to have flexible tiles for blocking as he opens the board, rather than being forced to dump the Q. Still, scoring consistent points are great when ahead, and it seems to be just worth it here to take bleb.

#note CRACKlED is 5 more but this is worth it for short term defense. I will have to deal with the C at some point and it won't be fun, but it's better than offering everything immediately right now.

also luckbox again

my feeling about scrabble is that it is basically a combination of being aware of different factors going on in a position and being good at balancing factors in a position.

this is going back to the last rack, BBELPQR. the two things going on are being aware of all these factors, many of which conflict with one another: BLEB scores consistent points (good when ahead), keep the inflexible Q (bad while ahead), keeps a leave that is particularly bad on this board, scores 19 points, draws fewer tiles that will help me block the board, and then each exchange has particular factors associated with it, like how many tiles I'm exchanging, keeping a scoring tile to help with consistent scoring, adjusting the average value of the leaves on the board (BELR and ELPR are gonna be a bit worse than usual cause their bingo value is less on this closed board).

the other step after being aware of as much as possible is being able to balance all these factors. almost always, the difficulty in a position comes from the difficulty of looking at two different plays, each with essentially their list of pros and cons, and deciding and intuiting which pros and cons list is more desirable. Sometimes a play's pros and cons list is so heavy on the pros that you just play it in two seconds - something like CLEWING is so obviously best there's no need to consider things.

Both of these processes, awareness and balance, are such amazing metaphors for how we make decisions in life. I think calling them a metaphor is probably imprecise, I think it's more precise to say they are the same as how we make decisions in life, because scrabble decisions are one type of life decision.

In life it always feels good to be aware as possible of all the factors of a situation - knowing about the people around your actions to be able to predict how your actions will make them feel, being aware of broader impact of your actions, being aware of your surroundings just to know what things around you might be affected by your actions.

So many arguments stem from dealing with different sets of awarenesses - one person is aware of one set of possible effects of an action, someone else is aware of a different set. it's easy to see how this will sponsor a disagreement. It's easy to disagree about BLEB vs. exchanging if one person is only aware of how the leaves should be adjusted based on the board, while someone else is aware of how the leave should be adjusted based on the difference in current score.

but I don't believe all arguments stem from a difference in awareness of factors. I believe a lot of arguments also stem from a different logical or intuitive balance of the factors one is aware of. I could sit down with someone and discuss BLEB vs. exchanging after we both brainstorm ever aspect of the position we can think of - and we might still disagree. We attribute different weightings to each different aspect (I call this intuition, the weightings are more metaphorical, I don't think we consciously attribute a weighting). And that's okay. there is surely a mathematical, optimal answer here. neither of us can be sure we know what that is just based on our intuition.

we should always try to be aware of as much as possible in a situation, which includes being aware that other people may be operating with a different set of knowledge than us, and that other people may be operating with a different system of intuition than us.

#note yeah idk, maybe just QIS or QI right now. KOB's defense is tempting, and it's not really easy for him to open another part of the board, but shedding the Q is really good.

I was reluctant to play QIS because of possible S setups he can make. Would appreciate insight here
