#note that was weird. just this morning while I was waking up (january 8th 2019, 13 days after playing this game), I was remembering the word (B)EHOVE, and how Thavatchai Thivavarnvongs played (B)EHOVE against me in this spot with a lot of overlaps, and in a weird dreamlike state I was thinking about how much non-expert Thai players study, how it's probably a lot more than we give them credit for.
but now that I see this position I realize he played (B)EHOVING, I'm not even sure what part of the board, and this memory got all tangled up with it
not BEHOOVE here cause of hooks

#note wasn't sure of GROTTy, it's close to this anyways with only 3 Os out

#note Q likes VOTER 4a a bit better, I bingo WAY more.

quas was nothin

#note there are a lot of plays here that are okay - BI 3B and (R)UIN F5 are both plays I saw
this play forms an invalid word and is not best
>joey: GIIKLPT -GIIKL +0 234
#note this exchange 5 was really tilt-inducing, partly because I was aware how dumb it was to be tilted by an exchange 5 after I played QU. I was worried about overlaps after BI for some reason, and the fact that he exchanged proved that BI was obviously what I should have done (now I kind of like RUIN better).
before the showdown I was telling Josh that this series was a personal test of emotional control. I think my emotions get most out of hand against Josh and against Joey - recently I've been pretty stable against Josh though. I always feel paranoid that Joey will bingo, I get annoyed every time he gets a bingo or a blank.
I said that I would win the series if I was able to be calm every game. I was not calm every game, proven by QU and then tilting hard after he exchanged. This is emblematic of my emotional instability that cost me the series
>jackson: ABCEINU F5 .UIN +21 236
>joey: LM N8 .LM +23 257
>jackson: ABCEIIU 3B AI +16 252
#note played RUIN last turn to block the TRANQS spot, which was more likely for him to hit after he exchanged 5.
Q still likes playing BI here, but I felt like ACEIU wasn't going to work, in addition to the extra scoring spot I'm giving him. Kinda lost here because AI isn't great either, BCEIU is still going to be troublesome.
There are enough consonants out I guess BI is okay, but something more aggressive like CU(T)IE or CUI(F) is at least worth considering

>jackson: BCEIPTU 14J .UBIC +22 274
>joey: KX M3 K.X +28 304
>jackson: EEEILPT K10 PE. +16 290
#note since there are not as many vowels out and I have the last Es, I didn't hate my chances of outscoring here.
I could go the aggressive route with EE(W), but I think that allows him to outscore too easily.
Q likes this play second, behing 3I ET, which looks better for sure. Keeps a scoring tile, scores one more point.
It's also nice to keep 10 row open if I want to open with something else later that requires more vowels - even PE(W) right now is reasonable, cause he has to spend at least 1 vowel to block, 2 vowels if he wants to block and score. I didn't consider that or this 10 row aspect of the position.
>joey: DM 15H .D.M +11 315
>jackson: AEEILTT N2 TA +10 300
#note no need to panick - ET once again is the play. Things aren't this desperate yet, and he can almost always block with something small. This is a really bad attempt
>joey: AZ O1 ZA +35 350
>jackson: AEEIILT B3 ..LII +7 307
#note this isn't that easy to block, even something like Y(I)N or G(I) will give back some bingoes, and I can get occasional 9 row bingoes or open elsewhere.
Kinda have to hope he can't outrun much or he can't block well, but this seems to make his position hardest.
I can also do (T)IE, but I think he can block too easily
>joey: GHLNOS 9A SHLONG +17 367
#note not sure what I drew, but I resigned
