#note this play increases Max's average score by around 1.5 and his bingo chances by upwards of 2% (from just over 8% with IMPAL(E)RS to almost 11% with PALMI(E)RS. This indicates that he does indeed get more high-scoring non-bingo plays after IMPAL(E)RS given that the I is just sitting at C6 like that, but that the much less likely avenue of a snapback bingo skews the average score numbers enough to suit Max better. I took a few steps this turn and saw that IMPAL(E)RS might yield easier and more lofty scoring plays, but that PALMI(E)RS leads to a lot of plays from the 8A hotspot which might cause me trouble, since I don't really have anywhere safe like that to score. Still, I believed that PALMI(E)RS was better, since the scoring was not as likely or as bad, and it was also a new word, and perhaps Max might lapse and challenge it. But instead of thinking about whether or not I would win a challenge, I should have thought about the off chance of a bingo occurring here. This is a pivotal position in which I didn't thoroughly analyze the possible outcomes. This amounts to roughly a 1-point equity mistake.

>Joshua_Sokol: AEEEIOT 12A AE.IE +21 306
#note my plan with my placement of AUGURIES has come to fruition, but in Max's favour. The board is now pretty exhausted and I will have to revive it in the next few turns to hopefully mount a comeback. EER(I)E may have been better here to add synergy to the anti-synergic OT leave to allow for more flexibility on my next turn. I gave it some thought, but figured the E would be more valuable down the line for a bingo.
>Max_Panitch: HPT 2B PH.T +18 374
>Joshua_Sokol: EFLORTV 4L ROLF +28 334
#note I wondered if I was too hasty in opening the board. Although Max seems to have consonants, this opening doesn't even do me any good even when he can't play from the F. The leave is just bad. The other problem is that I failed to notice that PH(O)T took an O. If I play (DE)F at 13K, I can hit a few bingos with vowels, and he might not block all that often given his tremendous lead and inflexible range. Otherwise I can wait to fork the board open with the V next turn and play E4 OFT or OFTER, but I don't like playing the waiting game here.

>Joshua_Sokol: AACEENT G10 A.ANE +10 370
#note I attempt to open ALANE, but this word does not take an S, as I feared it wouldn't. However, my plan was to hit COE(D)iTOR after he blocked ALANES* just in case it was valid. But this was all silliness at this point, given that Max had just noticed the O hook on PHOT, and was not going to touch my false opening play.
Other ideas I considered included going for A(P)PARATE* B1, which is a Harry Potter-only word. Or WOO(D)ENER, but if I play the necessary letters off with ACTA O8 he will just play up top. Otherwiise ACE B6 to go for a threat might have been a good idea if I saw PHOTO, but this also runs a huge risk of getting outrun by any scoring play. So a 3x3 seems necessary. My play seems necessary.

#note I had run out of the meaningless time I had in this game, so I unknowingly left myself with one out play. RUNTY would have been correct here.
