>Jackson_Smylie: ?AACEFP H7 CAFE +18 18
#note I didn't like CAF very much, cause after CAFE plays I often don't have a good 7s line to work with - can't overlap the C to go up on the G or I column, and I can't go down on the G or I column because of the 10 row CAFE play. I have to rely on the 10 row play opening the 11 row in a way that works well to parallel. Josh doesn't always make a 10 row play, and when he overlaps caf that works fairly well for me, but I much prefer my position after CAFE. I think I should have played it E on the star though - I get a lot more reparallel bingoes and the board is more open.

This is another situation of prematurely closing the board to anticipate my lead - the lower placement of CAFE will close the board more because it leaves less space open on the bottom. whereas E on the star will leave a much bigger space on the bottom. I think I should have gone with E on the star to make my bingoes play more often.

The last play I didn't consider was FA! ACEP? is a cool leave cause my bingoes will score a lot, but I feel like the parallels might make me bingo too rarely.
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: DEMOU G9 ODEUM +21 21
>Jackson_Smylie: ?AENPTV H12 PAVE +47 65
#note I like this more than PAVEMENT cause pavement leaves the h12 spot open and generally opens the board more. NT? works well with the E I put out.

>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ORW 4B .ROW +14 146
>Jackson_Smylie: ADJLOST K7 JOTAS +35 300
#note didn't like JOWL cause the K column is the much scarier lane, and JOTAS scores extra which helps me outrun. JOTAS is also a much better block that I can expect on future turns, cause I take out the 7 row and don't leave great L column bingo parallels.
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: BEU 7K .UBE +16 162
>Jackson_Smylie: CDILLLX 8N XI +36 336
#note JUBE doesn't keep an S super often, so I don't need to block the spot. LUX keeps a vowel and ensures I don't get caught in a 7 consonant situation next turn - if he bingoes on the 5 row and I have 7 consonants, that isn't so much better than when I let him bingo on the O column.

I ended up choosing XI cause it will be hard for him to bingo twice on this board after XI, whereas after LUX, his O column bingoes can open up another spot for bingoing, leaving 2 spots open on the board.
