#note I might keep AET against some players but not many
>Edward_H_Zurav: AQT H7 QAT +24 24
>Joshua_Sokol: BEIV I6 VIBE +30 30
>Edward_H_Zurav: NSWY 10E WYNS +31 55
>Joshua_Sokol: ACHIOTZ J9 AZOTIC +46 76
#note an array of options here, but this one stands out to minimize hooks, keep a scoring tile and go for tiles that can be helpful.
>Edward_H_Zurav: AEM K9 MAE +31 86
>Joshua_Sokol: GHLNOUX I11 HUG +22 98
#note MAE was a really bad case scenario from my perspective. There's now a hook that is very well protected that is going to be difficult to deal with. I could block it immediately with (ZA)X since that might be my last chance to do so, but I am not really drawing into much except the occasional phony GHOUL(I)NG, HULLO(I)NG... However, this doesn't keep a great leave and doesn't score enough to justify the position I'm putting myself in. Better to play (C)LUNG, I can hit RO(U)X or DO(U)X or XI or XU for 31 next turn. I could also be aggressive and play (C)LOUGH. I actually think I should have played (C)LOUGH. Instead I hold onto the idea that I can manage this board the way it is. GLUN(C)H also looks interesting to set up my X for possible big plays. Any of those look better than this.
>Edward_H_Zurav: BFFOU 11A BUFFO +36 122
>Joshua_Sokol: ELLNORX A11 .OXER +45 143
#note too bad I didn't draw an I or an A.
>Edward_H_Zurav: AEINPST 15A .EPAINTS +83 205
#note He put down PANTIES L3, then said "oops that's right, but wrong spot" or something like that and put down (R)EPAINTS. Sort of suspicious behavior now that I think about it.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEGLLN 14J .ALLA +14 157
#note thinking he might not know hooks and feeling the need to open up the board, but I missed 12D EGAL which scores OK I guess.
>Edward_H_Zurav: AEY 15M AYE +25 230
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEGHNN F6 HAND. +20 177
#note Could play 12D ENG frst and wait it out but things seem pretty dire. HANDG(U)N is also an option but not so much after AYE, he's likely to be able to score well on column A.
>Edward_H_Zurav: ??AORTU L3 AUThORs +68 298
#note at least they both came at once and he missed O8 OUTRAs(E)
>Joshua_Sokol: EEGNSTW 12C EEW +36 213
#note Quackle's suggestion is M1 NEWT, which would not have worked out for me.
>Edward_H_Zurav: ENORU 8A NEURO. +21 319
>Joshua_Sokol: DGNORST 3K D.G +10 223
#note Maybe DOG(A)N?
>Edward_H_Zurav: DLOR N2 LORD +16 335
>Joshua_Sokol: IINORST 5A IRONIST +77 300
>Edward_H_Zurav: GIRV C2 VIG.R +18 353
>Joshua_Sokol: DEKMNST 14A .M +16 316
#note This was a super tough position. I played this because I can hit a bingo with an I, but if he makes some weak play I can also win with DESK for 48 at 1C or (X)ED for 41. Quackle suggests (X)ED now. I can only hit ST(I)CKMEN through the I with a CE draw (which I probably would have hit), but I can also hit a host of scoring plays through the I in IRONIST and elsewhere.
>Edward_H_Zurav: JO 2J JO +28 381
>Joshua_Sokol: DEEKNST A4 K. +11 327
#note wins with an I, and maybe if he is unable to score I can out-in-two with (X)ED and win
>Edward_H_Zurav: EEIIILP O4 EEL +10 391
#note good, he got paranoid. I have a shot!
>Joshua_Sokol: CDEENST H1 CENTS +32 359
#note setting up the surprise out. I didn't see a way for him to block or even win here, so I was getting antsy to steal a third game.
>Edward_H_Zurav: IIIP 4C .IP +20 411
#note but even if he missed this, 14E PI and 13N PI are enough to win.
