>Mitch_Brook: AAH 8G AHA +12 12
>Jim_Burlant: CIIRSTZ 7E TIZ +43 43
#note Uh oh. Mitch's opening play screams that he has the X, and I don't have the rack to do much about it. All I can do is cash the Z and score 43 so I can still be in the game after his next play. A sim confirms it's either this or ZIT 7I. I should probably play that since he's going to either play ZAX or XI no matter what, and ZIT will give me a back hook for the other I that I'm keeping. Regardless, this is a strong choice.
>Mitch_Brook: AEX 9F AXE +50 62
>Jim_Burlant: CINRSTW 9E W...N +19 62
#note And after a couple of minutes, I find it. It's either this or WAXER in the same spot, and this is slightly better. Still a deuce game.
>Mitch_Brook: BEN 6D NEB +23 85
>Jim_Burlant: ACIIRST 10H SATIRIC +76 138
#note Also plays at 7I for 65. This is best.
>Mitch_Brook: ?DEGIOT 5E hOGTIED +91 176
#note Nice play! That said, GODETIa and GOITrED in the same location score 95. Mitch has the slight edge, though - he's 62% to win.
>Jim_Burlant: ELOPRUV H1 VOLU.E +30 168
#note The only two 8's in this rack are PULLOVER and OVERPLUS, and they don't play. This scores 30 and unloads the dreaded UV combo. It's best, but it still only wins 36%.
>Mitch_Brook: AYY 4J YAY +26 202
>Jim_Burlant: EIKLPRS N8 PI.KLERS +82 250
#note Wasn't sure enough about PRICKLES to chance it. PRICKLES N7 doesn't slot the 3x3 with the S, which would have made it the better choice. Regardless, I'm back in the game. This was held, but released.
>Mitch_Brook: ADIQ O6 QAID +57 259
>Jim_Burlant: FGILOOR M13 FOO +26 276
#note Quackle thinks I should forego defense and just score 30 on row 3 with FORGO. Admittedly, this gives back something like H(OS)E or J(OS)H worst case, but it drastically reduces the 3x3 threat. I'm fine with this even if the duck thinks it's mediocre.
>Mitch_Brook: EEN O13 NEE +27 286
>Jim_Burlant: DGILMRW 2F GR.WL +15 291
#note No really good options available; my best scoring play is 3L MILD, which sticks me with the W with a bunch of U's unseen. Otherwise, it's this. The sim likes MILD, but I'm fine with this.
>Mitch_Brook: FORT 3K FORT +26 312
>Jim_Burlant: BDEIJMV 10B JIVED +48 339
#note This wasn't autopilot, because the E hook he just opened up down the O column is jumping out at me. Unfortunately, VIED for 38 is the only thing I see...and keeping BJM doesn't seem like the best strategy. Ultimately, 48 points is 48 points. This is best. Now 55% to win, and that's about to skyrocket in a minute.
>Mitch_Brook: AEHINST E9 ..N +12 324
#note Actual rack. Post mortem, Mitch told me he had been flummoxed about what to do with this no-go and felt he needed to open a line to hook his S. He debated between WEN and IN K11. Much better play for Mitch would have been HE 6J, scoring 38 and keeping a potent AINST. Admittedly hard to blow a SATINE rack apart, but this choice by Mitch cinched the game for me:
>Jim_Burlant: ABEMOTU 12C OUTBEAM +81 420
#note If he plays HE on row 6 instead of WEN, I'm still coming back with BOUT 11E for 39. And we're still more or less even. Instead, this pretty much clinches the game.
>Mitch_Brook: AEHINST - +0 324
#note Lost challenge.
>Jim_Burlant: GLMNOOU K7 MOO.NG +18 438
#note Just looking to shut down bingo lines. Quackle wants me to play MUNGOOSE or MONGOOSE on row 15. Defense is more important here.
>Mitch_Brook: AEHINST H12 .A +2 326
>Jim_Burlant: CELPRRU 14E CURLER +15 453
#note More defense. I don't care about equity at this point.
>Mitch_Brook: AEHINST 15H SHEA +40 366
>Jim_Burlant: ?DEIPSU O1 PIED +35 488
#note 1J ESPIeD wins by 2 more. Overall, I can't complain about this one; this is about the best I am capable of playing.
>Mitch_Brook: INT 13B TIN +12 378
>Mitch_Brook: (SU?) +4 382
