>Nathan: AAARUUV -AAUUV +0 0
#note Wonderful start.
>Will: ABIJNSS 8H BASIJ +44 44
>Nathan: AGLNORR L8 .ARGON +28 28
>Will: ?AENRSU 14F UNbEARS +75 119
#note Not sure I thought of DANSEUR, which scores 81 - I wanted to play UNWARES# for a bit better defense of the triple but was maybe 95% sure of it.
>Nathan: ILORSTW 9G LOW +24 52
>Will: AAIOOPR 15F POORI +34 153
>Nathan: DEIRSTY 7I YID +29 81
>Will: AADFGNT 10F FAG +23 176
#note I thought about continuing to play offense with 13H AFT but couldn't justify it after LOW and YID. F8 DAFT is an interesting idea that I didn't consider - it basically forces any bingos that still fit to give me a lot of nice lanes and if he plays from 8A I'll also get some new lanes as well. Still, FAG is fine and I prefer it.
>Nathan: EEIRSTU 11A SUETIER +72 153
>Will: ABDMNTY B10 B.NTY +32 208
#note I missed ABYSM, which is unfortunate, but BUNTY# surprisingly sims extremely competitively with it. It certainly protects the board better from more bingos. BUNTY# vs BUNDY# is pretty interesting - I had a hunch that ADM would do better on this board than AMT and sim just barely bears that out. Keeping the D over the T gives me some nice plays to draw along row 12, such as ADZ for 48, ADMIT and ADEEM for 37 and 39 with common draws, and some fluky stuff like ADUKI#, ADUNC, etc for 40+.
>Nathan: DENQRTX J6 Q.. +32 185
#note He just blocked QUERN, of course.
>Will: ?AADEFM D8 MAF.ED +30 238
#note Could also keep better bingo tiles with different placements of FA.
>Nathan: DEENRTX E4 DENTEX +41 226
>Will: ?AEIPSV C3 ImPAVES +98 336
>Nathan: EIORTTW D1 WITE +30 256
#note So he gets the last S and blank and plays a 98 point bingo. So much for this game, right?
>Will: AACCGLO A5 CLOACA. +37 373
#note I'm up 80 - doesn't it feel like Nathan's likeliest path back would be to hit an A column bingo to the S and then something else? How threatening could a W be?
>Nathan: EELORRT 1A TRO.ELER +149 405
#note Holy cow, what a reversal of fortune! I wasn't sure of this, but of course I have to try it.
>Will: DGHIMOU M11 UDO +18 391
#note Just trying to set up another lane/threat, as I badly need more on this board. Sim likes 11I DOUGH, hoping to draw the T hook, while CP picks 13H OH, a play whose merits I don't understand.
>Nathan: AHIKLNZ B1 .IZ +36 441
#note Seems fine, but ZAIKAI 10J is called for. I need to score and deprive my opponent of the ability to fish for a final miracle bingo.
>Will: GHIIMTV K5 MI.. +25 416
#note Nathan pointed out rightly that if I'm going for the EO draw I need to play 9L AMI, setting up two spots.
>Nathan: AEHKLNN 10J HA.K +28 469
#note An absolutely brutal moment. He could have EIGHTVO at 2H or TOUGHIE/OUTGIVE at N5, and I can't block both lines. I have to block the two bingo line, especially since either one is more likely than EIGHTVO. This is why AMI was the better fish. After AMI, he has EIGHTVO in both spots if he hits his miracle fish. In order to win in this variation, he has to hit his fish, and have the remaining tile in the bag be the U. If any other tile is in the bag, there are no other bingo possibilities and I just block EIGHTVO.
>Will: EGHIOTV 2H EIGHTVO +88 504
#note Yes, not only did I hit my fish, but the letter in the bag was the exact one I needed it to be to induce a block of the other lane.
