#player2 Jack_Overby Jack Overby
>Peter_Schwartzman: AEHLRRU H4 HAULER +26 26
#note 0-2 against Peter so far, but hoping my third time will be the charm.
>Jack_Overby: ABFIOSV G3 FAB +21 21
#note G3/I3 FOB 21 sim slightly better. AISV > IOSV, but not much of a difference.
>Peter_Schwartzman: BEMNRTW F2 WEB +29 55
#note Clearly best.
>Jack_Overby: DILOQSV 10F QIS +42 63
#note Clearly best.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ILMMNRT I5 MM +17 72
#note Didn't love this play, but it scored passably and left me a decent bingo shot through the E, which may or may not remain open. Curiously, 6H UMM 13 is a little better despite scoring 4 less. I guess it leads to a more open top right quadrant.
>Jack_Overby: ADELOVX 8E VOX.L +15 78
#note Smart way to dump junk and block my lane. However, Quackle suggests the brilliant E1 LAD 16, which sets up, sure enough, 1A VOXEL for 48!!
>Peter_Schwartzman: EIILNRT 11E LIN +19 91
#note Nongos. 11E LI 15 looks better. Given my lack of S, I wanted to give myself a better lane, but given it's unlikely I'll draw a hooking letter for IN on my next turn, I might as well keep a better leave (EINRT >> EIRT) and wait for Peter to open.
>Jack_Overby: ADEEGOO 12B ODEA +12 90
#note Once again, forcing my opponents to throw the board open for minimal points.
>Peter_Schwartzman: CEIIRRT C9 CRE.IT +24 115
#note Another tough play. I considered B11 COIR and 13E TIER and CIRRI, but ultimately just decided to take the points
>Jack_Overby: EEGIOOO E5 OGI.E +18 108
#note Several exchanges (keeping I, E or nothing) sim slightly better. This is the only non-exchange worth considering.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ?AEEIRZ 14A lA.ERIZE +86 201
#note A nice draw bails me out. I considered 13E REAlIZE 70, as H15 is quite dangerous, but given the 16 point difference, I have to live with it. Q agrees.
>Jack_Overby: EHNOOPY 15H HONEY +60 168
#note Painful, but such is life. Thank goodness one of those O's wasn't an A!
>Peter_Schwartzman: AEIJRRT L11 JERR. +30 231
#note I opted for this over the fishier D3 RAJ 29, which is the clear winner on equity. JERRY is indeed better than RAJ, and is the #1 play. However, play #2, which I would never have found, is genius: 14J IRATE 25. There are only two unseen tiles that hook IRATE (?R), and holding onto the R gives me a good shot at a J_R_ play for 60+! Even if I miss, I may well be able to play at 13L, forming JAY, for 30+. This was a tough play to see, and it might not be correct, but I wish I would've spotted it.
>Jack_Overby: NNOOPSU M9 UPON +18 186
#note Peter does a nice job of reopening the board. Any attempts to block here will just cede easy column O points. J6 PUS 40 sims a bit better, but I definitely prefer this.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ADINTTU D1 DAUNT +18 249
#note Fairly tough position here. I wanted to avoid opening any spots and give myself a counterplay should Peter bingo on lane L or N. For some reason, AUDIT for 2 fewer in the same spot sims 2% better. The best play, though, is I13 UDO 23, which scores well while keeping a leave with must better bingo potential. I think I overlooked that spot.
>Jack_Overby: EGNOOPS N3 PONGOES +66 252
>Jack_Overby: EGNOOPS -- -66 186
#note This seemed like an easy challenge to me... but that was because I didn't know PONGO. Doh. As Peter pointed out after the game, out of (B/C/M/P)ONGO, PONGO is the only one that doesn't pluralize with ES. So I got pretty lucky here. If this were valid, I'd be in big trouble!
>Peter_Schwartzman: ?AADIST N3 sTADIAS +63 312
#note As it is, his bingo comes off, and I seal the game. 99.6% to win.
>Jack_Overby: EGNOOPS 1A POO. +21 207
>Peter_Schwartzman: ACEEFIK O7 FIE +32 344
#note I believe I spotted 11I FEIJOA 32, but this was the smart play, closing down the most dangerous lane on the board.
>Jack_Overby: EGIINSU 15H .....ING +45 252
#note Very nice! Best by a mile. I wasn't sure, but didn't even hold.
>Peter_Schwartzman: AACEKLV 3B VA. +12 356
#note Pretty lame play. Sure, it blocks column A, but it scores minimally and still leaves column L open. A better scoring move (31 CALVEs, M4 LEK, 11J CAJOLE) would have been preferable.
>Jack_Overby: DEGISSU I13 UD. +23 275
#note At least someone got to use this spot. It looks like J1 GUDES 17 or 3I GUIDEs 18 are best, but really, there's no chance for him to bingo (or win) here.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ACEKLWY M5 YAK +38 394
#note Looks best, leaving one in the bag and blocking STINGER/GENITOR and ilk from L4.
>Jack_Overby: EGINSST J8 SIGNET +29 304
#note This looks best, as it scores the highest and guarantees him an outplay. No point in fishing, as there's nothing unblockable that he can hit.
>Peter_Schwartzman: CELORTW L3 WORT +24 418
#note Another spread-depressing play made under haste. Of course I saw L1 COWER, but with time pressure, I just slapped this down. Adios, 14 points of differential.
>Jack_Overby: ST 11L ..TS +11 315
#note Best.
>Jack_Overby: (CEL) +10 325
#note Glad I had the nerve to challenge PONGOES*. Aside from a handful of plays at the end (VAU, WORT), this was a well-played game.
