#player2 Peter_Schwartzman Peter Schwartzman
>Jack_Overby: AEIMNRR H4 MARINER +74 74
#note Thanks, Mr. Tile Gods.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ABDILUV 4D ALBU. +18 18
#note G7 BUD 25 sims best, but I don't blame Peter for not wanting to muck up the board with a bingo deficit.
>Jack_Overby: CFPPRTT 9F CR.PT +13 87
#note Not a pretty play to be found, but this sims best.
>Peter_Schwartzman: DIJNOTV F2 JO. +28 46
#note 3rd best, slightly behind 5H ADJOIN/T. Between the two, I like ADJOIN better, as it gives Peter a nice hooking opportunity on his next turn.
>Jack_Overby: DFOPTTW G3 W.D +23 110
#note Not the best. G1 TOFU 29 comes out as a clear favorite. Still, I'm fine with keeping things tight and holding onto a vowel.
>Peter_Schwartzman: DEINNTV 7G V.N +11 57
#note Sim strongly favors 8J INVENT 41. Peter certainly keeps a good leave and gives himself a decent lane down column J, but scoring well and opening up the board seems prudent at this juncture.
>Jack_Overby: BFKOPTT E3 B.OT +20 130
#note 2nd best, a shade behind J6 BOTT 19. I'm fine with taking an extra point with those letters.
>Peter_Schwartzman: DDEILNT D4 .LINED +12 69
#note Intriguing choice. 5G DADDLE 18 sims best, but this does a good job of opening up the left half of the board. Regardless, the fact that he was forced to play off bingoable tiles for a pittance validates my defensive decision-making.
>Jack_Overby: AEFKPTT 8A FAK. +33 163
#note Easy peasy.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ADLNOTW B6 WO.LD +21 90
#note Just behind some 22-point J6 plays (WONT/WATT/WANT).
>Jack_Overby: DEIPTTX J6 PET.I +22 185
#note Another clear winner.
>Peter_Schwartzman: AINOOTV K3 VINO +18 108
#note A frustrating nongo! K4 AVO 16 looks best, as it keeps a decent leave, while forking the board, with potential bingos at 3I or L6.
>Jack_Overby: DEORTUX 8J .UXEDO +66 251
#note At this point, I thought I had it. 98% to win.
>Peter_Schwartzman: AEOZ N7 A.OZE +35 143
#note The turning point, as he blocks my clinching LEGERITY. C10 OUZO 29 looks a bit stronger, to keep the board open and hold a better leave, but credit to Peter for his ESP skills.
>Jack_Overby: EGILRTY M6 GL.Y +25 276
#note Would have gone with 7M YAG 23, but alas, I was a smidgeon unsure of it. This is one of many plays in the 97% win range. 3I LEVITY 26 comes out on top.
>Peter_Schwartzman: EEHIOTU F8 E.HO +17 160
#note F9 COUTHIE 16 sims best, but that seems way too reckless and will give me easy counterplay. This is a good way to open a lane that will be hard for me to block.
>Jack_Overby: CEEIIRT E10 ETIC +21 297
#note A pivotal play. I contemplated 3I CIVET/CIVIE 26, but I thought he might not know the recently-added S-hook to ETICS. A play which I came up with after the game was 11E ROC 10. Though it sims poorly and leaves dreck, it completely obliterates the board. Had I thought of it at the time, I might have played it, equity be damned.
>Peter_Schwartzman: ?EINRTU 14B NUTsIER +72 232
#note No hooking troubles for Mr. Schwartzman. Best is the tricky (and new) O1 REqUINTO. Regardless, I'm still above 95% to win.
>Jack_Overby: AAEEIIR 15G REI +17 314
#note Despite a pool consisting of 2/3 consonants... I draw 4 vowels. Brutal. Any decent scoring play likely would have clinched this one, but my options were grim. I figured this would be best, but it actually sims quite poorly (73%, versus 80-81 for O10 ARIA/AREAE). Either way, what was once a sure win is now anything but.
>Peter_Schwartzman: EFGGQSU O11 SQUEG +77 309
#note Wow. Another haymaker.
>Jack_Overby: ?AAEEIO 3I EA.E +8 322
#note Again drawing all vowels from a consonant-heavy pool. I'm in shock. Q prefers C8 KEA/KAE 16 or an exchange (keeping ? or E?). I did this to give myself a chance to open up the top row, if need be. No matter what, my chances now are floating right around 50-50. Quite a sharp dropoff!
>Peter_Schwartzman: AFGMNRT 13G FANG +26 335
#note P.S. is now a 60ish% favorite to win this puppy. L1 FRET 26 and 4J RIFT 26 sim better, but no way. With a blank and three S's unseen, Peter needs to block this lane.
>Jack_Overby: ?AAIIOS A2 OIdIA +9 331
#note I made this play with just a few seconds left. It guarantees me a decent scoring out. From what I (and Quackle) can see, nothing wins here.
>Peter_Schwartzman: AHMRSTY K11 HASTY +31 366
#note Not quite optimal (4J YIRTHS 35 is 11 points better, blocking my best out), but gets the job done with room to spare.
>Jack_Overby: ASS M2 ASS +22 353
#note Nice to get a bit of trash talking in at the buzzer.
>Jack_Overby: (MR) +8 361
#note I recounted, to no avail. One of my toughest losses ever, especially coming at the heels of two straight opposing outbingos. Still, ETIC, REI and EAVE did me no favors. A different choice at one of those junctures might have saved me.
