>Jim_Burlant: ?AAFINR 8D FARINAs +76 76
#note Luck box! It's either this or FARINhA in the same location. FARINhA is a bit better due to vowel placement.
>Chris_Cree: IJ I8 .JI +18 18
>Jim_Burlant: CDIMRRR G7 C.RRI +11 87
#note Once again I have to play off prime bingo building blocks for no points. The only surprise to me is that Quackle thinks this is as strong as it is. I thought I might have been better off playing this at 10H, but the duck says the only better option was 10F MIRID. Given the drawing problems I had been having this tournament, I'm fine with this.
>Chris_Cree: ITV E5 VIT. +14 32
>Jim_Burlant: DEIMORT H11 TIMED +29 116
#note No 8's play. This does well statically, but less looks to be a bit more here. A sim indicates J8 SOD is best - looks right. This isn't horrible, but it's not great.
>Chris_Cree: ?CIMOTT 14E TOT.MICs +65 97
#note I held this, but the alphabet soup congealed and I confused words once again. It's TONETIC that takes the S, not TOTEMIC.
>Jim_Burlant: ABDKORR L10 BORK. +20 136
#note Right letters, wrong location. BROCK K11 scores 6 more. This is so-so.
>Chris_Cree: EHI 7I HIE +29 126
>Jim_Burlant: AADLRSX 9B AXAL +32 168
#note At least I got this right. This is by far and away my best play, and it's 73% to win.
>Chris_Cree: EGGOU 15A GOUGE +29 155
>Jim_Burlant: ADFINRS J10 FID +28 196
#note Right idea, wrong execution. I need to play closer attention to the tile pool: only 1 I remains unseen whle there are still 4 A's at large. FAD should have been the play. I should have been punished for this indiscretion, but (a) the laws of probability were generally turned upside down this tournament and (b) my own ineptitude punished me enough as you'll soon see.
>Chris_Cree: DDI 10B DID +32 187
>Jim_Burlant: ABENRSZ 6D B.Z +34 230
#note Yes, I suck. All I saw was that I needed an O for ZEBRANOS...
>Chris_Cree: EOW 6J WOE +29 216
>Jim_Burlant: AENOORS F10 ONO +12 242
#note ...and it was only right after I clocked this play that I realized I had missed BRAZENS. Oof.
>Chris_Cree: OW 5K WO +24 240
>Jim_Burlant: AEHNRSS M1 HARNESS +85 327
#note But in a rare moment of leniency, the tile bag was awfully kind and I drew my way out of my blunder from two turns ago. This wins 93%, but I'm not out of the woods yet.
>Chris_Cree: AERSTUY 3G TREASU.Y +63 303
>Jim_Burlant: EELNPQY H1 PY.E +30 357
#note A tough, tough turn. The I's are out, and this is not a Q friendly board. Exchange? Not a viable option when the game is this close. As for this, right idea, wrong execution. With a bunch of E's and 2 U's unseen, the play is to score and turn as many tiles as possible. I should play PYRENE for the extra 6 points and, more importantly, 2 cracks at the bag.
>Chris_Cree: AENV M9 VANE +19 322
>Jim_Burlant: EELNQST J2 Q.T +32 389
#note With the T in my rack, once I saw him play VANE, I breathed a huge sigh of relief - this game was mine.
>Chris_Cree: AU 13G A.U +15 337
>Jim_Burlant: EEELLNS 1D SLEE. +8 397
#note Juuuuust in case I mistracked and he had something like GANTLO(P)E for the win. Much better play would have been N11 EEL or 11C SENNIT.
>Chris_Cree: EGP N10 PEG +32 369
>Jim_Burlant: ELNN 12C LEN. +8 405
>Chris_Cree: ALOU 1M .AO +18 387
>Jim_Burlant: N 2M .N +16 421
>Jim_Burlant: (LU) +4 425
#note Not particularly sharp on my end, but I'll take it.
