>Matthew_Tunicliffe: GOTUY 8H GOUTY +26 26
>Jim_Burlant: ?ADENSU K4 DAUN.ErS +82 82
#note Luck box! There is nothing worthwhile down the H column, so the position becomes a matter of finding the 2x2. While this is one of 4, this would have been a bit better if I had found UNSTATED or UNSTAYED, since those don't give away cheap X bombs at J6, nor do they give back as many easy plays at L1.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: DEHIV L1 HIVED +41 67
>Jim_Burlant: ?ADGHTW I2 WATcHD.G +70 152
#note And even luckier! While this gives back the S hook on row 10 (its anagram, DOGWATCH does not) the bigger perk to this play is its defense since the H at L1 is no longer wide open. The duck agrees - this is best. 79% to win.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: ORU 1L .OUR +21 88
>Jim_Burlant: CEGKORT H1 COKE +47 199
#note Best. The only other play remotely worth considering is TOKE, which scores 6 less than this. Even that wind 2% less often at an equity deficity approaching 10 points. Rapidly approaching 90% to win barely 3 turns in.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: IN 3L .IN +12 100
>Jim_Burlant: GLNORTX G2 LONG +23 222
#note Given the consonant overload, I can't let myself fall into the trap of panicking because he opened the triple line. I don't have the rack to effectively shut that down without hamstringing myself. OX O3 is a non-starter, since it not only leaves me without vowels, but it gives back too many extensions like OXTERS, OXEYES, etc. The best thing I can do is clear as much of this as I can and hopefully draw some vowels for an X play on the next turn. Yes, this opens up potential 7's down the F column and on row 6. And if he hits on row 6, that will almost certainly give me A column counter play. But none of those spots create more serious danger than already exists so this is fine. A sim agrees - this is best. Just shy of 94% to win.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: IPST 10F PITS +28 128
>Jim_Burlant: ORRSTTX O3 ORT +11 233
#note Meh. So blinded by the same sort of garbage that had bedeviled me most of the morning that I figured I would take the turn off to shut down the O column while I balanced the rack. This isn't one of the original options and it sims mid-pack at a hefty equity loss because it doesn't score. This is probably a bit too early for me to be playing this cheap. Fortunately, I have the cushion to get away with this, since the only hit is equity. Still over 95% to win.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: AQT 11E QAT +30 158
>Jim_Burlant: EEFRSTX N5 EX +27 260
#note Two options here: either this or F1 EF. I chose this to kill the easy 7's down the N column and limit him to row 6 bingoes if he didn't have an S. I figured I would play EF on the next turn. Per the duck either is as good as the other.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: AEY 6F YEA. +24 182
>Jim_Burlant: DEFIRST 12D FID +31 291
#note I disagree with the duck. Predictably it wants me to fish with 2F FLOW. With a 78-point lead I'd rather take away his easiest points. I still keep an incredibly potent ERST, row 7 is available, and I can also hit on row 13. I'm fine with this.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: BCEIS 13A BICES +35 217
>Jim_Burlant: AEJMRST A10 JAM.ES +60 351
#note Telltale sign #256 this was my game: a no-go rack still scores 60 points. Interesting sim result btw - while my play wins most often, the runner up, which only wins 0.01% less often, sims 2.9 points better: JAMBE A10, keeping the S. I sort of see that...but how likely is he to let that stay open? I'm fine with what I did here.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: MOP B9 POM +24 241
>Jim_Burlant: FINRTWZ 15A .WIFT +15 366
#note I didn't look to score here. First order of business was making sure he couldn't hit me on the triple. And with 1 vowel in the rack, I wanted to turn as many tiles as I could. Admittedly I didn't look as closely at the board as I should have. The sim winners are C7 WRIT and 9G ZIG, I get the Z bomb on the next turn.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: BER C8 REB +23 264
>Jim_Burlant: AENORRZ 9G ZA. +49 415
#note Look! Something shiny! Given my defensive motif on the previous turn, there's no good reason for me to do anything but play NOR 7E to kill bingoes. I don't want to tip off that I've got the Z, and he may think he's got a shot at it if I play defense so 9G probably stays alive if I play NOR. If I had this turn to do again, I'd play NOR.
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: EELNRUV D2 NERVULE +75 339
>Jim_Burlant: AELNORR 7F OR +16 431
>Matthew_Tunicliffe: AAEIINO L11 INIA +10 349
>Jim_Burlant: AEILLNR 14K R.IL +8 439
#note Now I get even more stupid. All I saw was TOEA as his out play and I thought I was being oh-so-clever when I played this to leave myself what I thought were outs in multiple places. Obviosly I should be playing LANE or LINE C1.
