#player1 Simon_Walton Simon Walton
#player2 Adam_Kauschke Adam Kauschke
>Simon_Walton: AEKOPRV 8H PAREV +28 28
#note Decided for the hookable opening play. After losing three in a row to Adam i wanted to make sure I started with a reasonable score and kept things open.
>Adam_Kauschke: DHU 7G DUH +26 26
>Simon_Walton: AEGKOOT 6H OAK +28 56
#note OAK seemed to be the best choice here. I thought about TOGAE but couldn't be sure it was valid.
>Adam_Kauschke: IIIOU -IIIUO +0 26
#note Adam exchanged 5 unknown tiles here.
>Simon_Walton: AAEGOOT -AAOOG +0 56
#note There weren't any good scoring options and since i wasn't sure of TOGAE i opted to exchange, keeping ET.
>Adam_Kauschke: CILN J2 CLIN. +17 43
>Simon_Walton: EIORTWZ M3 TOWZIER +103 159
#note I was pretty sure TOWZY was valid, and 103 points were too many to pass up. Adam challenged both words and due to technology limitations we had to challenge both separately.
>Adam_Kauschke: ?AIILRT K7 R.pTILIA +64 107
#note Adam found a nice bingo. However it created some good reply scoring opportunities.
>Simon_Walton: EFORRSS 14J F.RES +32 191
>Adam_Kauschke: ABIIV 15F BIVIA +35 142
#note Very useful word, but i challenged just to make sure.
>Simon_Walton: EEEIORS -EEO +0 191
#note I had the option of REO for 25 parallel to TOWZIER, but i thought that would give up too many points in reply, instead i opted to balance the rack for a bingo opportunity next turn. Changed EEO.
>Adam_Kauschke: AIJO L1 JIAO +44 186
#note Meanwhile, while i'm stuffing around with my rack, Adam is piling on the scoring pressure again.
>Simon_Walton: EEINRSU 10D ESURIEN. +62 253
#note I saw ESURIEN(T) after a few seconds of looking. As much as i would have liked to play from the J, i couldn't give up 30 points doing that. I rightly concluded there were no other bingos available.
>Adam_Kauschke: DEW 13M WED +26 212
#note I think Adam would have used the J here if he could.
>Simon_Walton: AFMOOPR N4 POOF +39 292
#note From the J I only spotted (J)ARP, but i reckoned POOF was a better option as the leave was a sight better ARM vs FOOM.
>Adam_Kauschke: GOS 1L .OGS +36 248
#note Adam had to take the J score this time unless he had a bingo or other 40+ move.
>Simon_Walton: ABMNRTT F9 B.RNT +7 299
#note Only 44 ahead and lacking vowels, i couldn't afford to be stuck again the next turn so i opted to burn 4 consonants. I really wanted to play through the E to block the most likely bingo spot, but couldn't achieve the same goal or rack balance.
>Adam_Kauschke: ?AEGLNS 5B mANGLES +70 318
#note Adam put down the tiles and then had a short think about what to make the blank - M. I was please with that choice.
>Simon_Walton: AAMOTUY B2 TUM.Y +34 333
#note It was now getting late in the game and i wanted to conserve some time on the clock so i played this move very quickly. There was a bingo AUTO(G)AMY which i didn't know.
>Adam_Kauschke: ADY A1 DAY +28 346
>Simon_Walton: AACEEIO 12D CA.OE +16 349
#note Playing the last turn so fast, i hadn't bothered to think about rack balance and now my rack was overflowing with vowels. Coming into the end game, i didn't want to be stuck with duplicate vowels. Missed some decent plays like AECIA on the triple, AEO(N)IC from 12C. I wanted to keep AI in case i drew the Q.
>Adam_Kauschke: EEM A6 MEE +22 368
>Simon_Walton: AEGHILX N9 EXIL.. +31 380
#note Thanks to accurate tile tracking i realised correctly that Adam would likely have QUOTE(D) from O8 on the triple which would probably give him an unbeatable lead. I decided to block. A quick simulation in Quackle showed my choice was best at preserving the winning %.
>Adam_Kauschke: ENNOQTU G1 TOQU. +24 392
#note Adam was down to less than 1 minute on his clock when he played TOQU(E). It appears he had TOQUE for 36 from B8 but then his outplay was blockable.
>Simon_Walton: ADGHT 13C THA. +23 403
#note I wished i'd known my 4s a bit better - GATH, GHA(T) came to mind but i was less than sure about them. THA(N)G also looked an option. I didn't notice Adam could go out, but i went with what i thought was my highest score.
>Adam_Kauschke: ENN D7 NEN. +5 397
#note With only a few seconds left, Adam played out and gave me a narrow win. It appears a couple of plays were misscored.
>Adam_Kauschke: (DG) +8 405
