>Jim_Burlant: DIIIRST 8H IRID +10 10
#note Wasn't quite sure if it was worth it to play through. This winds up simming best, but this word at 8F or exchanging DII are also good choices.
>Paul_Holser: FOU 9J FOU +14 14
>Jim_Burlant: AIILRST 10D LIATRIS +69 79
#note This word also plays at M9 for 74 but I just couldn't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on it for only 5 more points.
>Paul_Holser: ?AEEGIL M7 GALIlEE +78 92
#note E4 WEIGELIA scores 82.
>Jim_Burlant: EEFGJSX 12J JEF. +28 107
#note Best. D9 FLEX and E9 JIG are also good choices.
>Paul_Holser: EVY D10 .EVY +20 112
>Jim_Burlant: EGGIRSX H10 .IGGER +30 137
#note I considered SIX E10, since 38 points exceeded any other possible score. But I didn't think keeping duplicated G's was going to get me anywhere. Once I saw this, I was sold. A sim agrees - SIX E9 is almost, but not quite, as good as this. This clears the G overload and gives me an excellent shot at an X play on the next turn. This is best.
>Paul_Holser: EE 13C E.E +12 124
>Jim_Burlant: BNOSUVX E9 N.X +38 175
#note Not ideal due to leave, but I didn't look for anything else here. 14A VOX scores almost as well, and the safest option that manages the rack a little better than my choice is VEX K11.
>Paul_Holser: AEILT L3 TELIA +13 137
>Jim_Burlant: ABOSUUV N2 AUSUBO +32 207
#note I only considered two plays here. First was this, and the other was UVU(L)A 5I. Problems with UVULA: it gives back E,R, and S hooks, and only scores 16 to this play's 32. I wasn't thrilled about burning the S and opening up the O column, but 32 points was 32 points. A sim gives UVULA slimmest of nods from a win percentage standpoint (74.7% for UVULA to 74.6 to AUSUBO), and the equity loss here is minimal. I'd make this play again.
>Paul_Holser: AMP O1 PAM +27 164
#note AMP or M2 PAM score 29.
>Jim_Burlant: NNSSVWY 14J WYNS +26 233
#note While he took my intended WYN O1 away, there's still no need to exchange. I can get rid of 2 of the 3 crappy consonants and clean out one of my duplicated S's. This is best. While a sim says I'm winning 80%, I was feeling anything but comfortable about this game. My racks felt like they weren't getting anywhere and my sixth sense was telling me that I'd build a 70-point lead and he would bingo at that time to even things up.
>Paul_Holser: AH K5 AH +19 183
>Jim_Burlant: EINNOSV O7 NEVI +26 259
#note No bingoes play. As for this - right idea, wrong execution. I just auto-piloted NEVI for 26 and didn't look for the best play. ENVOI B6 scores 33 and is best.
>Paul_Holser: AELNORT 3E TOLERAN. +60 243
#note Only bingo for Paul, but it's bleak for him - this only wins 24%.
>Jim_Burlant: ANOORSZ 2I AZO +67 326
#note Best. For reference - 2J ZA scores 64 (AZO scores 67), but concedes 6 equity and wins 2% less often.
>Paul_Holser: COO 1G COO +18 261
>Jim_Burlant: HNOQRST 2F HO +31 357
#note A terrible draw leaves me with a tough decision. Seeing AW in the unseen pool, I overestimated the danger that he could hit for 50 at 2B. Secondly, I thought there was a decent shot that QI H7 would still be there on the next turn, and if he somehow bingoed on row 7, I'd be able to dump the Q through his bingo. And if he hit something ending in IER on row 15, that would give me QI for 31. Given all that, I felt that taking 31 points to push my lead to 97 would leave me enough margin to still hold on. Quackle thinks I should just dump the Q for 11 on row 7 with QI. A tough call no matter how you slice it.
>Paul_Holser: ?ABDEIT 4A TrIBADE +85 346
#note I catch a huge break. Paul had struggled with awkward racks for much of this game. As a result, he was under serious time pressure. His best bingo here is hABITED 4B for 6 more.
>Jim_Burlant: KNNQRST C3 Q. +22 379
#note No choice now. He's made this game close enough that I need the extra points. This is best.
>Paul_Holser: MOPR A4 .ROMP +27 373
>Jim_Burlant: EKNNRST E3 ..NK +16 395
#note Neither of us has a walk in the park. I never recognized SHO (when will the new words become reflexive?) and thought my best bet was to outrun since I didn't see either of us as having an out in two. I played this to set up 7E SENT on the next turn.
>Paul_Holser: CDDTUW K11 D.W. +22 395
#note See my previous comment about time pressure. He was way under 1 minute by now. Best is apparently CUIFS for 30, but it wouldn't matter.
>Jim_Burlant: ENRST 7E SENT +16 411
#note Unlike Paul, I don't have any major time problems...but I don't notice that I have set him up with a winning out play:
>Paul_Holser: CDTU 14A CUD +15 410
#note DUCTAL FTW!
>Jim_Burlant: R 13C ...R +7 418
#note REX for 10. Duh.
>Jim_Burlant: (T) +2 420
