>scott_jackson: ALOZ 2J ZO.AL +68 104
>JD: AADGNRU I1 GAUD +22 96
#note If I hold back the D here, I set myself up for a great lane on row 4, bumping my bingo % from 39% to 47% next turn. Also a reminder of a good Scrabble rule of thumb - if you have a word and its hook, save the hook for yourself unless you have a really good reason not to!
>scott_jackson: EGGHU 4D HUGGE. +26 130
>JD: AFNORRT 1F FRO. +24 120
#note I wanted to leave the G open because there are a ton of Is, he's not that likely to play to the G, and the bingos would be worth a lot. but then I didn't want to block the E with FOR. Sim bears out my first instincts - although I bingo more often after FROG, my average score is a little higher after FOR, suggesting that my bingos are worth more on average.
>scott_jackson: AHR 5C RAH +27 157
>JD: AEINRTT J8 .ARTINET +64 184
#note obviously 20-20 hindsight, but FOR last turn would've led to TREATING (80 points, doesn't open anything) versus this play.
>scott_jackson: KNO 15G KNO. +24 181
>JD: ADMORST 6F STROAM.D +65 249
>JD: EEILOST (challenge) +5 254
>scott_jackson: EIIINRR 11J .INIER +12 193
#note he told me his rack - I think maybe his leave was IR?
>JD: EEILOST O7 LITE.OSE +77 331
>JD: BEIJOOV (challenge) +5 336
>scott_jackson: ACEIILR 13G IRE.ICAL. +76 269
>scott_jackson: ACEIILR -- -76 193
#note worth a try if he thinks it has any hope of being good, although CRIA/CHUGGED opens nicely
>JD: BEIJOOV 13L JOB. +26 362
#note only 12 vowels left out 33 tiles, and both blanks lurking. Quackle greatly prefers playing JIVER at 10F this turn - 5 more points, flips an extra tile, keeps a more useful scoring letter, and even saves OBE at 10M as quasi-guaranteed points.
>scott_jackson: ACEIILR 2B RAILE +21 214
>scott_jackson: CDIUW (challenge) +5 219
#note probably CILIA > RAILE just to avoid giving back cheap points at column 1, although RAILE does save CHUGGED and set up a G hook on column A with a blank. Scott is probably just playing for spread at this point anyway.
>JD: ?EIOPSV 13C OVErSPI. +78 440
#note wow
>scott_jackson: CDIUW 1A WUD +26 245
>JD: DEEEFIT 3A FEE +23 463
#note FENI at 5J is a lot more points
>scott_jackson: IQ 12I Q. +22 267
>JD: DEEITUV 6B VET +22 485
#note it's worth considering emptying the bag with N7 ETUDE. The pool is ungainly enough that he's very unlikely to be able to bingo out, so I deprive him of a chance of fishing to improve his rack. I also give myself one more chance of drawing the blank. On the other hand, I like my play because it's not easy for him to use the EVET hook to bingo or score well (even burning the blank). Although ETUDE wins a sim, I think this is right.
>scott_jackson: X C5 ..X +18 285
#note to give a sense of how bad the pool is, after he fishes the X there is no longer a possible bingo draw on column A for him! EXOTICA and EXCITON were the only two in the pool before I played VET.
>JD: DEINUWY A5 DEWY +40 525
#note 2 better to play WINEY at 1K and ignore my hook.
>scott_jackson: ?ABCIOT 14L OBo. +29 314
>JD: INU B8 UNI +10 535
>JD: (ACIT) +12 547
