>Jason_Broersma: ADOTY 8H TODAY +26 26
>Rob_Robinsky: AHKRRSY M8 SHARKY +50 50
#note SHARKY* - I was close to certain I'd seen it in Xerafin. 7F KRAY looks like it's the best valid word available.
>Jason_Broersma: AOZ 7H AZO +48 74
>Rob_Robinsky: EEEMRRT 6J MERE +24 74
#note Wow, RATEMETER! Wouldn't have guessed it, though it's not enormously better than my play due to the extreme volatility.
>Jason_Broersma: ?AEOORT 6B ROOTAgE +63 137
#note 12F CARETOOK looks best for defense.
>Rob_Robinsky: CEEJRTT 5D JET +35 109
>Jason_Broersma: OW 7C OW +22 159
#note Huh.
>Rob_Robinsky: CEORRTU 8A CUR +18 127
#note Did I really miss EUROCRAT? Oof.
>Jason_Broersma: AIL 9I AIL +26 185
>Rob_Robinsky: EFGIORT N1 GIFTER +33 160
>Rob_Robinsky: ADELOOU (challenge) +5 165
#note What a bizarre sequence. I played a phony, and Jason challenged the acceptable hook! Also, where the heck was my head this game?!
>Jason_Broersma: SUV 1L VU.S +36 221
>Rob_Robinsky: ADELOOU L1 .ALOU. +18 183
#note Fishing off OU might be a bit better.
>Jason_Broersma: EIINW 11H WINIE. +18 239
>Rob_Robinsky: DDEEMOT 12C DEMOTED +83 266
>Jason_Broersma: CEEINOS 10B SENECIO +73 312
>Rob_Robinsky: ?ABDLNP 5K P.B. +28 294
>Jason_Broersma: BP 10L B.P +17 329
#note I stole Jason's exact play!
>Rob_Robinsky: ?ADFLNV E8 FL.A. +20 314
#note This is a tough position. I inferred Jason to have the U and possibly the S as well, and BAP implies some balance as well. Something containing GINU, perhaps? Anyway, I considered burning the blank for O8 FAULD to block the line and take a 2 point lead, but keeping NV with this pool feels foolhardy. Tempo is very powerful on this board. My play isn't terrible, but F2 FANTAD accomplishes the same things a bit better as well as places the A somewhere I can use it.
>Jason_Broersma: GINNRTU O9 TURNING +85 414
#note Urgh.
>Rob_Robinsky: ?DEHNSV 13C EHS +34 348
#note I need to give myself the best chance I can to hit along row 15 or to the A or L in VALOUR, and with the I's out keeping the N is forced. I was getting low on time, so I didn't take a lot of time here to try to figure out my best bingo chances. 13H DEV appears to give me my best shot at drawing into a bingo, but I didn't see anything promising that played in both locations. My abbreviated thought process led me to EHS to muddy the water if Jason drew both the Q and X - if I score enough, a bingo in either location should be enough for me to win even if he plays one of them off. The added pressure to outscore might keep him from attempting to block, though the Q-spot at G9 eliminates my ability to slowplay an endgame.
>Jason_Broersma: AGILNQX 14A LAX +31 445
#note Jason's actual rack. My desperation gambit to make his decision as complicated as possible worked, given his rack and what is now unseen to him. He knows that I am threatening to bingo, so in a world with unlimited time (his clock was growing low as well) he now needs to work out where each of my possible racks can bingo. As it turns out, only one rack can bingo up top (ADIINV? for INDUVIAL) but I can bingo to the G as long as I didn't leave the D or N in the bag. However, knowing that row 15 is the bigger threat isn't enough - he needs to block it in a way that doesn't allow me to play a seven in row 14 or a different eight through his play. There are two plays available that block the G effectively: L13 NIX and 15J GALING. NIX has the added advantage of creating a second Q spot on the board, ensuring that the only way I can then win is to have left the E in the bag. Fortunately for me, Jason had less time available to think through all of this than I've had just now to type it...and he had to do so without Quackle available. In the end, his play is an attempt to outrun my bingo if I am forced to play in rows 2 or 3.
>Rob_Robinsky: ?DEIINV 15H DEVIlIN. +86 434
#note I had something like 20 or 30 seconds left on my clock. I determined that my only bingo was to the G, and as his turn grew longer and longer my only thought was to try not to give any indication of what area of the board I was interested in. I don't know if that had any effect whatsoever, except for the brainlock I gave myself that prevented me from seeing DERIVING instead of DEVILING. I don't think I deserved to win this one.
