#note I am entirely convinced that Elizabeth is responsible for the cold I am now just getting over, almost 4 weeks later. Why? She told me that she was sick and that we shouldn't shake hands! Problem is, I had been playing on her board this whole time, board 24.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEITTW E7 T.WIE +16 16
#note GOLIArD was a good choice of a bingo, although it may have been the first thing she saw and decided to go with. In any case, it forces the game northwards a lot of the time, making the bottom less accessible as a result. I felt I needed to swim at countercurrent to leave the board accessible for a comeback. As such, I believe that I discarded 9E WITE as it left the bottom in shambles. I don't really want to overlap here either, at least not for only 4 points.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: AIKQSUW G7 Q. +21 91
#note Instant regret as her Q may have been homeless after an overlapping play.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAADEIT D7 A.A +11 27
#note Really in awful shape after this first-turn-bingo spell that infected two of my four games thus far. Perhaps things would have been different if I had accepted to play KFC to make up for my first-round no-show. I figured it was unfair for me to have to play someone of similar calibre over getting a guaranteed +50, since the guy I was playing was second-to-last seed and so my average game against him was probably around +150. Had I played Kate, the best odds I could give myself were +25 or something, so I decided to take the forfeit at Kate's expense, as she didn't really care about her tournament result after coming in as a replacement.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: GIV C9 VIG +24 115
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ADEEIT K2 IDEATEs +72 99
#note I could play mEDIATE or jADEITE at C1, but I prefer to take away the S-hook now while keeping the board decently open to continue my way towards a comeback. I have to say that drawing the blank here was pretty ridiculous, much less likely than a first-turn bingo.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: APY J2 PAY +32 147
>Joshua_Sokol: EEHIOOU L4 HIE +34 133
#note uh oh, now there's an s-hook I can do literally nothing about. Perhaps C1 was my line.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: DPU C5 DUP +17 164

#note hanging on by a thread at this point, things can go wrong very fast.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: EMMOS 1F MEMOS +36 200
#note ok, not so bad
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEIOTU D11 AUDIO +18 172
#note Sim is liking 2F UDO, but I'm not liking B10 as a scoring spot. I guess I overlooked this turn a decent amount though. Anyways, let's just say I knew what she had for this.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: AGLTU A6 GAULT +22 222
#note My 8 points of equity I just lost, returned to me in full by the crystal ball I hide inside my brain. GAULT at B10 was 30.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEJLORT A1 JO +29 201
#note I sort of regretted making this play afterwards. I can probably outscore her here, so taking the points with RAJ or TAJ or even JOT looked better for a second. Then I realized how easy it was for her to re-overlap and score just as many or more, especially with BBWY out. Then I was OK again.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: OX C13 OX +33 255

#note I don't understand why I would play WYTE or TYNE at 2E instead of this There are only two vowels left in the unseen pool. I think Quackle thinks I can outrun a bingo if I play WYTE or TYNE? I guess because she gets stuck with the V or the Z sometimes if I leave one in the bag. I didn't think of that type of scenario and I am glad to have figured this out. I was too focused on removing bad case scenarios where I don't draw a vowel and she's able to nickel and dime me to death. I see now that there is a lot of value in leaving one in the bag here, not only because of what I just mentioned, but also because she can only play one tile, which might prove useful in preventing her from getting a bingo down.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: KLT 13K K.LT +23 363
>Joshua_Sokol: BEINRTZ N10 NER.Z +32 419
#note luckily she didn't have STRI(C)KLE. Here I have to block her outplay of VERSIN, unless I think she will try something else that's invalid such as VINERS*, VERNIS* or RIVENS*. Still, this leaves me with outs so it's probably the best play regardless of what Elizabeth does.
>Elizabeth_Ralston: EINRSV O7 RIVEN +28 391

#note she played a great game, luckily I got IDEATEs and OLEASTER when I needed them.
