#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Saint: EEOWZ 8D ZOWEE +54 54
#note I think my opponents averaged at least 15 more points than they should have for the first play in this tournament.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEGNSY 7G YAG +24 24
#note Looking over this position I think I should dhave considered 9C YA. It doesn't really hit all that often but at least it sets up the board for my hooking letters. I also didn't really consider 9D AYE, which Quackle likes. I don't really like that, but maybe the numbers mean something. I feel like he will play from 7E ot 7G much more often than Quackle thinks, blocking the board almost entirely. Between 9C GAY and this, this looked much better for potentially keeping the board open for a comeback.
>Saint: IKN J6 KIN +25 79
>Joshua_Sokol: AEENOPS 9C PAEON +36 60
#note It is interesting to consider just AEON in the same spot, setting up my P and keeping a slightly better leave, but that might be a tad fancy. I can possibly come back without a bingo now. Saint mutered "wow, beautiful" here :D
>Saint: EHN 6F HEN +24 103
>Joshua_Sokol: CEIJLST E3 JILT +29 89
#note Absolutely missed the best play here. D6 JE(Z)AILS is 46 points. Definitely worth breaking up my rack over. Damn. (-2)
>Saint: AH 3C HA. +26 129
>Joshua_Sokol: CCEEOQS 10B COS +27 116
#note instant karma for missing JEZAILS I guess. K7 SECCO is a much less dangerous ersion of this play, but I thought there waas around a 30% chance Saint would miss the hook and a good chance he would not have an E after playing HEN then HAJ.
>Saint: AEIMNRY A8 RYE +24 153
#note Saint wanted to play A7 YAMEN here, but decided that I had another S. Quackle says to play F2 YIN here anyway and make a setup of his own. This is 8 points down without an inference
>Joshua_Sokol: ?CEELLQ D1 Qu.LE +52 168
>Saint: AIIMNST K8 ANIMIST +70 223
#note chickening out of SANTIMI, seemingly completely missing INTIMAS though! I think K7 SANTIMI is the play.
>Joshua_Sokol: ACEILLU 1A CLI.UE +51 219
>Saint: ?DEEIOR 15E OREIDEs +80 303
>Joshua_Sokol: AAELMRS J6 ...EMA +34 253
#note I knew I had missed something here. ALMEMARS was not a word I was familiar with, but Saint checked after the game. It's also a lot better to play J10 MA for 10 less, not only because of the leave, but because it doesn't block the hooks on KIN. There are only two unseen E's at this point, which makes LARS a really bad leave, especially on this board bereft of S-hooks. I hadn't noticed how few E's remained.
>Saint: OW 14I OW. +30 333
>Joshua_Sokol: AILORSS G1 SOL +22 275
#note SOLARIS*, oh SOLARIS*. My biggest mistake of the game yet, missing a common word on my rack. I had another bad feeling about this one.
>Saint: FU 2F F.U +27 360
>Joshua_Sokol: ABINRST 13I BA.IN +35 310
#note Make that 3 missed bingos in a row, and you can see why I never made it to board 1. Man... it had to be two words I struggle to see and another I didn't know...
>Saint: EITV 8J ..TIVE +30 390
>Joshua_Sokol: DDFRSTX M7 F.XT +26 336
>Saint: GNRTU I2 RUNT +12 402
#note really shouldn't be setting stuff up like this, I was frustrated that I still had a chance to win after a play like this.
>Joshua_Sokol: ADDDIRS I9 DAD +24 360
>Saint: ABEGPTV N6 VA. +22 424
>Joshua_Sokol: BDIORRS G14 R. +2 362
#note just need to draw the E to win. It's much better to play off the R at 10H, because I had R(E)BODIES at O7 anyway, and there's an off chance I'm giving Saint a bingo here. And wouldn't you know it, not a moment went by after hitting my block that PORTAGE was on the board. I told him after the game that some people would get really angry at him for making his plays before recording the cumulative score. It bothered me, but it wasn't the end of the world.
>Saint: AEGOPRT 13A PORTAGE +76 500
>Joshua_Sokol: BDIORSU N10 OBIS +20 382
#note 4G SU(N)BIRD and B10 (C)UB(O)ID are cute. This is 12 points off, though spread didn't really matter for me after my tie, so I didn't try too hard.
