#note I really hate these positions, but that doesn't mean I should misplay them. Just do the standard thing and exchange the M or play long.

#note 10A JOG would make the most sense here given leave value (although everything is just godawful).
I just didn't want to make a play that blocked a lane, since it looked like I was going to need all the help I could get to win this one. This play instead delays my going for a bingo, hoping I can score a bit next turn as well. Quackle also suggested 11H GOJ(I) to not block the L as much, which is perhaps an alternative.

>Joshua_Sokol: ?DGGHJO D1 DOGG. +20 232
#note I guess I have to do this delaying thing again, but there is hope on the horizon now that I have drawn the blank. D2 DOJ(O) is OK as well
>Will_Anderson: IPX 12C PIX +33 318
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AHJRSW 3B JA.S +24 256
#note totally missed 2K H(I)JRA. That's definitely the play I need to make here, despite its risks. My plan here was to get rid of my S for 2 points because I needed vowels and the S was pretty useless on this board.
>Will_Anderson: AACEGRS 3J .A.G +14 332
>Joshua_Sokol: ?HORRWY 1A WOR.Y +36 292
#note HOW(D)Y is 45, and I missed it. It seems very close between HOWDY, WORDY/ROWDY, I think I would take HOWDY next time.
>Will_Anderson: ACEIRS 10C AI +15 347
>Joshua_Sokol: ?DEEHRT M7 EaRTHED +78 370
#note Definitely better here to play EaRTHED than to play (L)aTHERED, which I also saw. Will's range is much more conducive to column M or N than toward the L in LIMO. Just have to hope he doesn't successfully fish with 2 in the bag, and I should be all set unless I get a really poor draw.
>Will_Anderson: ACEERST 8M .T +1 348
#note Beautiful find here, setting up his case E's and creating a very difficult situation for me. Alternatively he can drop his S at H5 for 22, tie the game up and leave me with a one-in-the-bag situation with a lot of clunk on my rack. Quackle likes F13 (N)E, which acccomplishes the same thing as (a)T but to a lesser scale, it would seem.
>Joshua_Sokol: FILPQSU N3 SUQ +20 390
#note So I am thoroughly screwed. There is a 50% chance he has drawn into ACEROSE, which I can block, but then I would be totally screwed over with clunky tiles and lose easily in the endgame. If he doesn't have ACEROSE, he has an array of huge Z-bombs on column O that also cause a problem. I ran out of time here but nothing seemed at all likely to win for me. I played this because I could possibly win in the endgame if I draw an A or an O, but I didn't have time to calculate. With this play, the only chance I have is to draw the O and hope he misses his only win. After the game, I realized that if I passed, there was a 50% chance he would have ACEROSE and get stuck with the Z if he played it. Passing causes alarm bells to ring in Will's head. Do I really not have ZQ on my rack, or am I trying to fool him into believing that? But even if we 6-pass, he will lose by 1 point! He loses 9 bringing him to 339 and I lose 30, bringing me to 340! So he can't pass back and hope I'm bluffing. But if he does play something like CORSE or CARSE, he can ensure that the Z will be playable if he draws it. If he draws the Q instead, it doesn't seem like I can block both Q(I) spots at 12G and J11 simultaneously, so he's OK in that case to play the bingo. There is a whole lot more to analyze here but passing is the best option I found for myself. Quackle finds PS(T) N6, which thoroughly blocks and leaves me with both of my vowels for maximum flexibility in the endgame with the Q.
Based on the knowledge that Will has both E's, PS(T) will win 2/6 endgames with optimal play on both sides. In this case it would have lost to O1 OCREAE and a few other options, but it seems like the best possible play over the board. I should have passed.
