>Jim_B: ?ADOQ 8D QuOAD +48 48
>BJ: ?ACENNO 9G sONANCE +64 64
#note I figured CANNON had to be a verb, but it sounded weird so I went with a safer play instead of H1 CANNONED. Did not know JONCANOE! (Definition: "a boisterous rhythmic dance".) Other possibilities included NOYANCE, FACONNE, CANOEMAN, ALENCONAL, NONDANCE. I debated hooking SONANCE to QUOAD but thought I remembered that QUOAD didn't take an S. I was right. I didn't notice that I could have shifted SONANCE two squares left for more overvap. Also missed ANNOUNCE for a 2x2 through the U.
>Jim_B: AIJ 8M AJI +32 80
>BJ: EFGNRST J7 GR.FT +17 81
#note Missed bingo ENGRAFTS (didn't know the word). I tried hard to keep my E here and dump consonants, but Quackle prefers 10F FEG. J8 F(A)G as well, ENRST is pretty good I guess, as long as you draw at least one vowel.
>Jim_B: HOO 7E OOH +22 102
>BJ: EEFNNSY K9 .YE +24 105
#note I didn't like my choices here, but Quackle at least agrees with NYE. Didn't see (DO)YENNES for 39.
>Jim_B: CEO K5 ECO +13 115
>BJ: EFLNNOS 4H NONSELF +78 183
>BJ: AEIRTTV (challenge) +5 188
#note After a bit of looking I notice NONSELF on my rack, and figure it's probably phony, but don't rule it out. (I never saw ENFELONS, don't know it.) 6D ELF for 30 was the other play I saw, and for the umpteenth time in this tournament I yet again find myself trying to decide whether to guess at a bingo I'm not sure of. Eventually I decide to go for it, and Jim challenges. I figured I've probably lost my turn, and when we get to the challenge computer the first letter he types is S ... I realize he's challenging SECO, not NONSELF. I'm suddenly elated as not only am I sure it's a word, but I played it last night and had it challenged so it's a bit funny that this is the second time. So I get the +5 and am very relieved. Quackle does prefer ELF to everything else other than the bingos.
>Jim_B: EPRU H1 PRU.E +21 136
>BJ: AEIRTTV 9D IT +15 203
#note Missed TAIVERT. I can't wait until I know *all* the 7s, just think of how many more bingos I'll find! :) I struggled to find a good play here and eventually made a "I'm out of patience" play, which I immediately regretted because I set up the hotspot at C9. Quackle likes J2 VINT.
>Jim_B: ALV L11 LAV +15 151
>BJ: AEMRTVW C9 WAVER +40 243
#note I luck out that Jim doesn't use the spot I foolishly set up. So I use it, and dodge a bullet.
>Jim_B: GILNOPT 1F TO.PLING +64 215
>BJ: AIMSTUU 11C .UM +16 259
#note Quackle likes M3 ULU and 2M UMU best, but nothing here seems great. With a couple of nice lanes I think I should have dumped both U's after all.
>Jim_B: ABB 6D ABB +29 244
>BJ: ADISTUX 14J XIS +33 292
#note I was again at a bit of a loss here. Quackle likes B12 DUX but I didn't like the parallel it set up to the triple. Guess that was the thing to do, though. XIS doesn't sim too badly.
>Jim_B: HINW 15H WHIN +41 285
>BJ: ADGRSTU 3F DR.G +14 306
#note 14A DUSTRAG. Don't know that one either. Not sure why I went with DRUG instead of just DUG here. 12B DEGU was best
>Jim_B: AEIMZ 2B MAIZE +42 327
>BJ: ADEISTU 1A DUET +27 333
#note DAUTIES, nowhere to put it. DUET sims best, at least.
>Jim_B: ELRU 3A LURE +22 349
>BJ: AAEIKSS 5D KA +30 363
#note Didn't think of 14I AXISES. But KA is a good choice.
>Jim_B: DEITY B6 DEITY +41 390
#note Despite missing a bunch of stuff throughout the game, I was feeling pretty good waiting for Jim to find his best play here. He studied the board for a long time. I did not see DEITY, and thought his best play was much worse. A good find.
>BJ: AEIIRSS A10 RAISES +27 390
#note Didn't see best play A3 LASERS for 32, but it doesn't matter too much. I'm bummed, thought I could have had this game, but I did make enough mistakes that I shouldn't be too surprised, and Jim is a tough opponent.
>Jim_B: EOT 13L .OTE +14 404
>Jim_B: (I) +2 406
