>Joshua_Sokol: AIORRTT H3 TRAITOR +66 66
#note The Rich Train of Embarrassment continues on into the 4th round. I hope your seats don't have sharp edges.
I always write Andre's name with an accent on the E. This time I remembered he was accent-less, but still wrote it down.
I got up to go do something before the game, and when I returned, the accent had been crossed up!!! Andre should know that he doesn't need to do something like that to intimidate me. He just has to play words I don't know. That'll do.
>Andre_Popadynec: NOZ 5E ZON. +26 26
>Joshua_Sokol: IIIJMTT E5 .ITI +13 79
#note amazingly, nothing is better than ZITI keeping the awkward IJMT. Weird rack!! Love it.
>Andre_Popadynec: BFNOW 8A BOWF.N +54 80
#note I thought I might have made a mistake with ZITI when he played this. Maybe I play TI(Z) instead.
>Joshua_Sokol: DIIJMTT 6B TIM.D +21 100
#note Gosh do I have to keep my J again??? Nope, I just have to see JIRD consistently. Still not there. Come on son! 4F JI(R)D is slightly better equity than this, but I think I might still prefer TIMID.
>Andre_Popadynec: DEKNU D8 .UNKED +28 108
>Joshua_Sokol: EGIJOST 10B JI.GO +31 131
#note one thing that might make JIRD more optimal than TIMID is that it blocks ZONA extensions (ZONATED, OZONATE-S-D, ZONATION). Not sure I should worry about that. It was interesting between C3 GOJ(I) and this, but I will take the points almost every time here.
>Andre_Popadynec: AOORV 11D .OROVA +34 142
#note Yes, a 1300-rated player got away with a 6 against me. Dude knows his words! I'm not about to challenge this... It's a slavic word. I recognized it from somewhere. I predicted the last two letters would be VA when he put down O-R-O. Why would I challenge if I knew what he was going to play before he finished putting his tiles down? This looked funny otherwise, but how often would this come up in a game if it were a word? All of these questions can be answered by "study and learn what is and isn't a word", but where's the fun in that? Nice phony, Andre.
>Joshua_Sokol: EILNSTY H11 .INYL +36 167
#note So distracted by the beauty of the Korova I decide to miss a top 5000 7.
Let it be known that I struggled to anagram TINSELY the 10 times I studied EILNSTY in the past 3 years.
Let it also be known that every time I draw the Y with a bingo-prone rack, I intentionally don't look for a bingo.
The Y is so annoying. It's the most difficult tile to see words with. It can be a consonant, a vowel and it can be anywhere in a word. There is no trick to finding words with Ys in them. Either you see it immediately, you spend 5 tiimes longer than you would spend if you had a W until you find something, or you just give up. I always opt to give up, because I can't fathom having to scratch my head for 5 minutes every time I draw the damn thing.
>Andre_Popadynec: ?AEGILP 15A PELAGIa. +83 225
#note oh, look at that, instant karma. Another word I didn't know and had to assume was valid. At least this time it was.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEQSST F14 Q. +31 198
#note really bad shape, definitely need to hope for an A, I, P, D for a valid bingo next turn, or an L or F for a valid bingo hooking an invalid 6.
>Andre_Popadynec: AAEEEOU I3 EE +8 233
>Andre_Popadynec: AAEEEOU -- -8 225
#note well, I guess I should have also mentioned that I needed to hope my opponent would play an outrageous phony. What a lucky break.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEESST I5 ETA +23 221
#note OK, now I might win without a bingo. ETAS sims a bit better for 4 more. Not gonna telegraph an S for that little.
>Andre_Popadynec: EEH 14B HE +22 247
>Joshua_Sokol: AEIMSSX E10 ..X +20 241
#note I saw MIS(T)AXES* after briefly thinking about MASTIXES. Very briefly. Perhaps I would have remembered that MASTIX was probably valid if I had thought about it a big more. I thought he would be vowel-heavy here and wouldn't have a big tile for C12. WEEL, PEEL, HEEL and FEEL all hurt, but I thought that he might have none of those after playing EE for 8. But yeah, MASTIXES. Ouch.
>Andre_Popadynec: EH C12 HE.. +33 280
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEIMSS 3C MISDA.ES +76 317
#note And since I failed to remember DIASTEM/MISDATE, it took me an eternity to pull the trigger on a word I was unsure of. Had I been able to anagram high prob words, I would have seen DIASTEM and MISDATE and known they were a pair. Still, I figured this had to be good. Wow. Kudos to me. -_-
>Andre_Popadynec: CEL 2B CEL +16 296
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AAEPUU 13G U.AU +6 323
#note liked this more than 2I PAUA, but J7 PAUA is also fine. Anyway, this set up my P. I have to just hope he doesn't bingo right now.
>Andre_Popadynec: EEGL 4A GLEE +25 321
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AACEPS K7 CAnAPES +75 398
#note Andre saw my P bingo instantly. I looked for one for a couple of minutes, since he had just set up P(LIE) for me, playing right into my hand. And for the thousandth time, I told myself "this is the last time you will miss _______". So far, so good, I haven't missed PALACES again yet. -30. He could easily make a scoring play and bingo next turn, the board will be un-closeable if he plays from K8 over to O8.
>Andre_Popadynec: FOY J8 FOY +36 357
>Joshua_Sokol: ABENORS 2I BORANES +80 478
#note Will he do it again?
>Andre_Popadynec: DEIRRTU O2 .TURDIER +80 437
#note yup, Andre bingo-ed out on me. Again. See our game in Kingston earlier this year. Bleh, disgusted by my performance in this one.
>Andre_Popadynec: (NVW) +18 455
#note Final recorded as 488-465. Somehow we both agreed to giving each other 10 more points. This accounts for a 10/15 points on my average score, meaning I actually only averaged around 451 points in reality. Let's see if I misscore anything else later on.
