#player1 Kevin_Noble Kevin Noble
#player2 Matthew_Larocque Matthew Larocque
>Kevin_Noble: AEILUVX 8C EXUVIAL +100 100
#note Casual game at Tim Hortons on January 7th 2017. After Kevin opens with a 100-point bingo, he is already heavily favoured to win (almost 80% according to Quackle). Rare to score this much with the VU combo!
>Matthew_Larocque: ADGNRUZ C2 UNGRAZ.D +112 112
#note I knew this was my ticket back into the game, and I had to play it straight. Put the pressure on him to think about it. I honestly thought it might be valid. How often do you outscore your opponent after they open with 100? He kind of talked through it and decided it was probably a word. Huge break.
>Kevin_Noble: FR 2B F.R +12 112
>Matthew_Larocque: DNORSTT G7 D.T +7 119
#note Looking at this now, this play seems to hinder my chances of success. I'm sitting on one vowel, and this kills any chance of hitting an 8 through the vowels on the board. I don't have the needed S-hooks either. Exchanges don't sim well, however. DINT in the same spot bodes better for my next rack. 9G TROD scores what little I can, although it does take an E hook.
>Kevin_Noble: EEINPRT I7 P.ENTIER +65 177
>Kevin_Noble: EEINPRT -- -65 112
#note I've played this phony before and gotten away with it, unlucky for Kevin that he attempts it on me. He has INEPTER and PREUNITE availible.
>Matthew_Larocque: IINORST 4B I.NITORS +70 189
#note I was stuck deciding between the two IRONIST plays, neither having great positioning. This indecisiveness forced me to look for and find this bingo which took far longer than it should have.
>Kevin_Noble: EEINPRT 1A PE +17 129
#note Perhaps Kevin hadn't studied this far yet?
>Matthew_Larocque: ?ILORRV 6B V.R +14 203
#note VALOR I guess, ?ILOR isn't worth scoring 4 less points per the leave evaluator.
>Kevin_Noble: ACEINRT 6F CERATIN +72 201
#note E6 ANURETIC is a nice fit and scores the most at 77 points, while hanging the C in an akward place for me.
>Matthew_Larocque: ?AFILOR K5 A.RFOILs +90 293
#note This hangs an S out in the open, but Quackle concurs that I needn't sacrifice points here.
>Kevin_Noble: Q 10J Q. +31 232
>Matthew_Larocque: ACMNPSU M1 CAMPUS +34 327
#note Looks like I still don't know a lot of fives. 8K FANUM keeps the S and scores 33. Moderate error.
>Kevin_Noble: EOT 5C .OTE +20 252
>Matthew_Larocque: ABBEJNO 3G JO +36 363
#note Sim prefers just playing for the extra points with JOE/JEAN/JEON, I guess nothing is going to salvage keeping BB. BEACON/BACON through the C score okay and attempt to hit the J next turn, but I think the J would become an anchor if the spot gets blocked, so I'd rather play it now.
>Kevin_Noble: EHO 1L E.HO +30 282
>Matthew_Larocque: ABBEEGN E7 B.GBANE +24 387
#note EBB(S) I1, good score and leave, but gives him easy points. I was too overcome with adrenaline at the idea of dumping both Bs and the G through a U on the board.
>Kevin_Noble: E 3M .E +4 286
#note Kevin up to no good again. Likely all one-pointers, so this was my opportunity to score my way out of range.
>Matthew_Larocque: DEIOWWY D11 YOWED +42 429
#note When is it bad to score 42 points? When you open a 3x3 and leave WI. If only I had known 12C WINDOWY. Might be awhile before I get around to the double W words. Something like YOWE is even suggested as an improvement, yeah I hold the D, but does work even 50% of the time?
>Kevin_Noble: AEINNOT 1D ENATION +77 363
#note Surprised to see no S or blank here. He at least had HIE or HAE last turn for 20 points instead of 4, although his fish did work out for him.
>Matthew_Larocque: ?DEGISW 15A WED.InGS +167 596
#note Somehow a leave of WI after making an aggressive play transformed into 167 points. I'm now on pace for my highest score playing scrabble in any form.
>Kevin_Noble: AKLY 8K .LAKY +48 411
>Matthew_Larocque: EHIILOS L10 SOIL +24 620
#note Kevin has an outplay that I didn't know, and he probably didn't know either. 11I LILIES blocks and leaves me with multiple decent-scoring places for OH. I did the best I could see without knowing his out.
>Kevin_Noble: AEMTU C12 MA +25 436
#note I'm not sure if he tracked, but aside from MEATUS, 9M MAE takes my planned outplay.
>Matthew_Larocque: EHI 9M HIE +30 650
>Matthew_Larocque: (ETU) +6 656
#note I can't recall the last time (if there was a time) I played a game to combine for 1000+, and this was extremely close to 1100! It wasn't possible without a phony, but I may never top this game, with phonies or not.
