>Mina: ?AEERRT 8C cATERER +64 64
#note Many choices. I figure you can't go wrong as long as you hit the DLS and put consonants next to the adjacent DLS's.
>Samantha_Southard: ANQST D7 Q.NATS +30 30
>Mina: ADEIOUU C11 AUDIO +16 80
#note Quackle favors 7D QUOAD, despite its terrible leave of EIU, presumably because i scores 26. Given my 6-to-1 vowel to consonant ratio, I'd only been considering traditional vowel dumps. I should've looked harder at hooking the Q. I did consider EUOUAE but should've played it instead of what I did play, because even though it scores less, its leave is so superior.
>Samantha_Southard: ACCORST F5 COR.ACTS +70 100
>Samantha_Southard: ACCORST -- -70 30
#note Sam either didn't know, or didn't see, COACTORS or ECTOSARC, which I certainly didn't know.
>Mina: DEEMOOU 15A ME.U +21 101
#note Oh goodness, Quackle's top choice is such a clever find: B10 MOOED for 43! Weirdly, its third choice is 15A ME(O)UED for 30, leaving OO, but my play doesn't show up on its list of choices, even though I'd thought that DEOO was a stronger leave than OO. I guess I'm starting to learn lessons about misvaluing leaves.
>Samantha_Southard: ACCORST I7 A.C +9 39
>Mina: DEOOOSV 10H DOVE +22 123
#note Yay, second-best play. Quackle mildly favors B11 VOE, which scores four points less but keeps DOOS instead of OOS. I guess it prevents opponent from making pointy plays in that area.
>Samantha_Southard: CENORST L7 CORNETS +79 118
>Mina: DEOOSTW 8K T.WED +27 150
#note I know I made a poor play here, especially keeping OOS. Didn't know or see Quackle's top choice of E8 (T)OWTED for 36, but should've seen and made the close-second-best play of H10 (D)OWSED for 45.
>Samantha_Southard: JOTU 13I JOU.T +40 158
>Mina: EEFOOSY J4 OOFY +23 173
#note Argh the best play is 14G YOOF for 40, which is so much more than I scored, ick. I guess it just looked too dangerous to me.
>Samantha_Southard: BILP 3G BLIP +25 183
>Mina: EEGGIIS E5 GEI. +21 194
#note Distant second-best to H1 GI(L)GIE for 30, which I didn't know and where I wouldn't necessarily have looked.
>Samantha_Southard: FH 11K F.H +28 211
>Mina: EGGIIST H1 GI.T +18 212
#note Broke up my duplicate G and my duplicate I, only to get hit with another duplicate G and another duplicate I. Surprised that Quackle's second and third choices, after GILGIE, are IGG at B10 and B9, which seems too dangerous. But of course the leave with those is nice and there's that open D.
>Samantha_Southard: EK B13 EK. +29 240
>Mina: EEGIRSV O8 .IVERGES +92 304
#note Eep I saw GRIEVES (didn't know REGIVES) but I didn't even see the A7 bingo lane, which Quackle prefers to my play, probably for defensive reasons.
>Samantha_Southard: AALR 14G ALAR +19 259
>Mina: AEHNOPY 15G HOY +51 355
#note Oh sh*****t, there was an obscure bingo available: 1D HYPO(G)EAN. Quackle strangely prefers HOYA or AHOY to plain HOY. Isn't a leave of AENP superior to a leave of ENP?!!
>Samantha_Southard: AA 7L .AA +14 273
>Mina: AEILNPZ 5I P.Z +28 383
#note Again, why is Quackle's top choice D2 ZILA for 29 keeping ENP, when my leave of AEILN looks so vastly superior given the open G on row 1, and I only scored one less point?!? What an utterly enigmatic oracle.
>Samantha_Southard: OX F5 OX +53 326
>Mina: AEIIILN -II +0 383
#note There are seven in the bag, so I can exchange. Quackle prefers D2 INIA or ILIA, which makes sense because they have nice leaves. I guess I was bent on trying to hit a bingo on row 1? Somehow, "exchange II" isn't anywhere among Quackle's fifteen choices. And its third choice, 1H (G)ENII, is a modest block that leaves column A wide open.
>Samantha_Southard: ?EIMNRS 1H .ERMaINS +80 406
>Samantha_Southard: BDIINNU (challenge) +5 411
#note Of course, slotting a non-blank tile on the DLS would be preferred, but I didn't know Quackle's top choices of 1A REMISiNG and 1A SMERkING. Then there's a good argument to be made for bingoing on column A instead: that row 1 would be harder for me to hit in response.
>Mina: AEILLNW A8 ENWALL +34 417
#note It just got hairy! Fortunately I made the second-best play after INWALL (which I wasn't as sure of), which Championship Player says carries a 100.00% win percentage.
>Samantha_Southard: BDIINNU 4F BI. +21 432
#note Championship Player prefers 13E DUB or DIB for 20. That would put her up 431-417 and leave fewer points on her rack, but I'm still guaranteed to win no matter what she plays.
>Mina: I M11 .I. +8 425
#note After starting the tournament 0-2 -341, I needed this win. It felt uncomfortably close, but without knowing crazy words like HYPOGEAN I'm not sure how much better I could have played it. I didn't find this episode of Quackling very educational.
