Player 1
#player1 Nigel_Richards Nigel Richards
#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Nigel_Richards: ABIMR H4 MBIRA +24 24
#note I asked Nigel if he could open horizontally. He said he could.
>Joshua_Sokol: AADEILO I5 ODEA +18 18
#note I told Nigel that this was a good play against a division 2 player (I was wearing my div 2 nametag), because no division 2 player would find PRE(BO)OM
>Nigel_Richards: EMOPR 5E PRE..OM +52 76
>Joshua_Sokol: AEFIILO F3 AI.FOIL +18 36
>Nigel_Richards: INORT 8A ROTIN. +21 97
>Joshua_Sokol: DEEFIIZ 4J DEFI +23 59
#note Obviously I would make the wrong play from a rack of DEIFIZE. I think I should have gone with E1 FIZ here, although DEFI has a lot of merit. Like all plays keeping the Z, DEFI is correct. Just not in this context. +1.3 in valuation and -0.15% in winning chances according to quackle. When putting in Nigel's exact rack (hindsight bias 100%), this is a 1-point mistake. Can't afford that against the Man.
>Nigel_Richards: AGINOTU G9 AUTOING +63 160
>Joshua_Sokol: DEINNWZ 15D ZIN.ED +81 140
#note Keep the Z always!! Problem is I probably draw EN(T)WINED out of the bag if I play FIZ!
>Nigel_Richards: BEEHRY C8 .HEREBY +38 198
#note It took me a few seconds to make out that this was a normal English word that looks very funny on a Scrabble board.
>Joshua_Sokol: ENSTVVW B10 WET +31 171
#note This is where I lost the game. I was so turned on by the idea of scoring points that I just stopped thinking altogether. I have to make a fishier play here I think. V(A)V 3E sims best. Not sure it would have helped my case but ya never know!
>Nigel_Richards: AGILPST M3 P.GTAILS +76 274
#note Awfiully weird choise over 13F for 2 less, but I guess the more scoring spots the merrier, and I guess he didn't want to create an X-bomb spot.
>Joshua_Sokol: LNOSVVX G1 VOX +38 209
#note He knew I had the X somehow too. This seemed automatic, but I'm better off playing 3B VOLV(A)S to go for turnover and a big X play or bingo! Otherwise, there's V(I)NS at 8L, saving VOX for next turn and creating a solid bingo lane for the future. I'm surely gonna need it.
>Nigel_Richards: ACEKLOW A2 LACEWO.K +70 344
>Joshua_Sokol: LNNRSUV 8L V.RL +33 242
#note Should still play V(I)NS here! Bad bad bad, autopiloting as if I'm not behind 135. I guess I gave up.
>Nigel_Richards: DEGOR 1D GRO.ED +39 383
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ANNSUY A11 YUANS +37 279
#note but what a draw! Still, absolutely everything needs to go my way 100% from hereon out.
>Nigel_Richards: AQSU 10J QUA.S +36 419
#note Nigel is a God. Not only did he draw all the G's and still destroy me, but he also bingo-ed with 2/3 of the G's!
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ACEHNU K4 ..U +5 284
#note This was hard. I hoped I wasn't missing something, so I looked long and hard for bingos. Nothing popped up in my mind, so I went with the most intuitive fish I could find. I can't empty the bag, it's too likely he will bingo out. I preferred this over 14F U(N) because it didn't interfere with any lanes. Quackle says H1 (E)H is the best fish by a few points. oh well
>Nigel_Richards: ?EIJNST 14I INJEcTS +83 502
#note 1.3 points better than INkJETS because I can better score overtop INKJETS in the endgame.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ACEHNT O1 ETHNiCA. +89 373
#note 50% chance of hitting a bingo out, and I hit it! I am so luck.

So this is what happens when you play badly against Nigel. Luckily I mmustered up the brain energy to see my bingo out.
>Joshua_Sokol: (E) +2 375
#note Instead of challenging or accepting, Nigel decided to hold ETHNICAL, turn the board towards him and start his own time.

Probably reminiscent of a Collins tournament in which challenging the out play is not free like in TWL. Or he's just making sure I have played a valid word by going through his personal unabridged dictionary. After a half-minute, he releases. This time though, I was certain that my word was a word. It takes a lot of pride to only hold an outplay that you are obviously not 100% certain of, and not go up to the challenge computer and lose.
