#player2 Ian_Weinstein Ian Weinstein
>Joshua_Sokol: DEFGOTY H7 FOGY +22 22
#note FOGEY is 10 more points but is so much worse defensively than just FOGY. Plus, adding the E to my leave increases my potential for next turn by enough that sacrificing 10 points is definitely worth it here.
>Ian_Weinstein: ADEEIMR 9C REIMA.ED +65 65
>Joshua_Sokol: DEEGRST D3 DETERG.S +74 96
>Ian_Weinstein: AGMY F6 GAM.Y +25 90
>Joshua_Sokol: ADFNRTU 8A FRA. +26 122
#note Conversely, I did not like playing this, but didn't realize that E4 FAN scored just as much, while keeping a better leave. It's also better defensively and sets up overlaps that shed my annoying U. C4 FUD is the play I think I should have made though, to play the U off and wait for Ian to open the board for my great leave.
>Ian_Weinstein: EKN C2 KEN +22 112
>Joshua_Sokol: DNNTUUV -DNNTUUV +0 122
#note I should just exchange everything, according to Quackle. As with many mid-game exchanges, the difference between the best exchanges is marginal.
>Ian_Weinstein: NTU 10A NUT. +9 121
>Joshua_Sokol: AAAJLNO B5 AJA. +27 149
#note I missed 5B JO(T)A, which scores a bit better but mostly doesn't give big counterplay. I prefer this based on Ian's inferred lack of scoring letters
>Ian_Weinstein: ELNRSTU J5 TRUN.LES +63 184
>Joshua_Sokol: ALNOOOU A10 .OUNAL +21 170
>Ian_Weinstein: ABCOR A1 CAROB +34 218
>Joshua_Sokol: DIIOOSV 14A .VOID +18 188
#note Felt no need to blow the board open last turn, but now I'm pretty low on bingo lanes, and I have to take a risk.
>Ian_Weinstein: AEW 13C WAE +27 245
>Joshua_Sokol: ?EILOSV 12H dI.SOLVE +72 260
#note I feel like I'm not a favorite here, but I think that Ian has less workable stuff than usual, although likely an H for plays making E13 (ED)H. I think I should have played pLO(S)IVES, but I wasn't 100%.
>Ian_Weinstein: CESUX O7 EXCUS. +45 290
>Joshua_Sokol: ABHHIIP 11I H.AP +31 291
#note But I had never been happier to draw an awkward double-H rack. I now have a lot of scoring potential and the only hook to ED that doesn't require burning a blank. My plan is clear. I have to keep scoring and hopefully by the end of the game I will have scored more than my opponent. I'm not dead yet. Quackle gives slight preference to a points sacrifice here by playing PI(T)H or K3 PHI, but Ian is more likely to catch on to what I'm trying to do and foil my plans of cashing the second H, and he's unlikely to make reckless plays after PHI or PITH which would give me more spots to score.
>Ian_Weinstein: EOW N6 WOE +25 315
>Joshua_Sokol: BHIILNO E4 BIN +23 314
#note I suffered from a mental lapse this turn, completely missing HILI as a 4. I think that that's correct here, since Ian is likely to block EDH next turn. Quackle favors my play, but I think I made a bad decision here.
>Ian_Weinstein: ITZ H12 .ITZ +36 351
#note There were many I's unseen, and I was unhappy that Ian was able to utilise one of them for so much.
>Joshua_Sokol: HILOOQR G13 QI +44 358
#note However, I imagine Ian felt the same way. I just drew the Q and used it with an I for 8 more points than he did with his I. A very lucky draw keeps me fighting.
>Ian_Weinstein: DEIIP 5H PI.IED +18 369
#note And as I drew my next rack, I amazedly turned over the case blank! The only play I worried about was this one, but it seemed like I was going to be able to outscore him regardless.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?HLOORT M5 .OTH +31 389
#note After retracking, exhaustively looking over everything multiple times, I assuredly laid down the best play. What a tense game this was, and I am happy to have snatched victory out of the flaws of defeat.
>Ian_Weinstein: EINT N10 NE.I +15 384
#note best endgame all around
>Joshua_Sokol: ?LOR H1 oRLO. +21 410
>Joshua_Sokol: (T) +2 412
