>Leesa_Beerahovich: CILOU 8D OCULI +16 16
#note Interesting to think about positioning of OCULI. I think I would play it with the O on the star just about all the time, but Leesa either didn't think much of it or preferred this more volatile placement
>Joshua_Sokol: EIKMOSU E8 .UKE +20 20
#note LEKU would have been significantly worse for me than CUKE was if the L was the letter in the double lane.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: FI F10 IF +20 36
>Joshua_Sokol: HIJMOSS 12B MHOS +29 49
#note My favorite rack of the tournament! I was completely overthinking everything on this turn. I saw SHOJ(O) and hated it because she had just played two tiles off, but I'm sure that would have been fine. I saw JOSH, JISM and JOSS on my rack, but didn't like 12C JOSS enough to get rid of my 2 eses for. I saw HIMS, OHMS, MHOS and HOMS, and I decided the I was better to keep than the O, which now makes no sense to me at all. And finslly, even after seeing JISM I missed JISMS!!! Unbelievable to see this blunder.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: GOP G7 G.OP +19 55
>Joshua_Sokol: EIIJLOS 7G .OJI +22 71
#note My leave evaluating skills were luckily back to normal on this turn, in which it is overwhelmingly better to play this for 12 fewer points than JOE 13A, not only for my leave but also for setting up GOJIS and not setting up easy plays either underlapping the J or playing from it. (J)AM is 36 points. Silly to give that up!
>Leesa_Beerahovich: ADHIMR 8J DIRHAM +42 97
#note nice play by Leesa! DIRHAMS MIDRASH, as I remembered after putting her on hold briefly.
>Joshua_Sokol: CEILNSY N7 S.LIENCY +80 151
#note I was happy enough with B10 CY(M)LIN last turn, but a bingo is even better.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: EINV B10 VI.EN +36 133
#note wondered if she would try to hook this with an S. She hesitated to play this, either because she knew it took an
>Joshua_Sokol: ABDORTV 11I BRAVO.D +26 177
#note let's do some board-control/turnover. Nothing is great, but I don't want to give back A(VID) after playing 6J VAT, because that also allows her to open a lane. I could play BOD there but the top o f the board will probably reopen at some point anyway and it's just not as good of a leave here.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: BGU A13 BUG +24 157
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEENTT L1 ANTEATE. +68 245
#note I sense a theme from the last two plays.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: ?ADEEOR 3F DEcORA.E +70 227
#note I was completely staid here on the surface, but inside I was completely freaking out. Was she actually going to leave the A open?
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AEERTT 1H AnTE.TER +113 358
#note What just happened?! This has to be the most incredulous thing that I have ever managed in a Scrabble game. All Leesa could think to say was "I'm getting attacked by anteaters!!"
>Leesa_Beerahovich: DW D11 D.W +14 241
#note honestly I no longer cared about the result of this game, because the last two moves of mine made my Nationals.
>Joshua_Sokol: FINOQXY 6J FI. +29 387
#note I figured this had good scoring potential for the next few turns. It's counterintuitive, but the 2x2 lane actually is a threat. This allows me to score with my X next turn if she hits a bingo, and I might draw a T for Q(A)T as well. I'm happy with this play. I also considered playing 2E QI but the deffense wasn't THAT good. She could still potentially hit the 2x2 lane and the bottom 14 row, as well as a word ending in -ST on row 4. 2L (N)IX was also on my mind as the standard play.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: NOPT 5K P.NTO +22 263
#note my setup is foiled and my plans to respond to her bingo are offset.
>Joshua_Sokol: LNNOQXY 4C NYLON +21 408
#note Now I can clamp down on the board and mostly force a bingo of hers to fit on row 14 or 13, although something ending in AS is in the books as well given how good the pool is for a bingo
>Leesa_Beerahovich: AEEILUW L11 .AW +18 281
>Joshua_Sokol: EILQRUX 2L .IXE +45 453
#note perhaps I block with I10 I(B)EX here. Hm. That's a pretty slick block, but TEARGAS, TARSIAS and ARISTAS still play on row 2, so that runs a risk of backfiring really badly. Her range seems quite prone to any of those two racks.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: AEGIRST 14F AIGRETS +72 353
#note Quackle thinks 11A G(I) should be Leesa's play. Sure, I'm stuck if she draws the U out of the bag, but I could have QUEZALS for 107! I'll also block her bingos if she hits one, and I think the engine doesn't recognize that. Although, blocking properly usually doesn't score much at all, since she can underlap SEZ/DOWS or ZAS/VAWS some of the time with ARISTAE and SALTIER, TARRIES and AERIEST. I guess it's better spread in that case, but I'm not sure. AIGRETS also makes sure she can't get stuck with the Q or Z herself if she draws them.
>Joshua_Sokol: AELQRSU 5A SQUEAL +45 498
#note she draws the Z and can play it.
>Leesa_Beerahovich: Z D4 ..Z +15 368
