#player2 Jim_Burlant Jim Burlant
>Jerry_Lerman: AMRRU 8D MURRA +20 20
>Jim_Burlant: AADEEGP 9C GAPE +19 19
#note Q gives slight preference to AGAPE instead of this, but feels that PARGE F6 may have been slightly better. Given Jerry's comeback play, the duck may have a point:
>Jerry_Lerman: ABLNW 10F BLAWN +29 49
>Jim_Burlant: ABDEFNO 11H DEAF +26 45
#note q prefers 10B plays to take out AGAPE hooks. 10B FON and 10B FOE win a sim. This is the bronze medalist.
>Jerry_Lerman: ADESS D7 A..SSED +20 69
>Jim_Burlant: AABEINO 12I BEANO +30 75
#note IT's this or C11 OBIA. I was maybe a hair too paranoid about potential ADZ plays, as the duck feels I should give up the 6 scoreboard points for OBIA.
>Jerry_Lerman: FO 13L OF +22 91
>Jim_Burlant: AEHIILT C11 AHI +25 100
#note Best. C12 HILI and C12 HI are also strong choices. If I had been paying attention to the tile pool more closely, I might have just played HI since there were only two A's unseen.
>Jerry_Lerman: AEGLNST I2 TANGLES +68 159
#note GELANTS plays at B6 for 81. Nonetheless, Jerry is still in the driver's seat; he's 73% to win.
>Jim_Burlant: EILMTTW H1 WITE +31 131
#note Not at all thrilled about blocking all these lines while I still trail, but this scores 31 points and I only trail by 28 with the C column and row 14 still alive. 23% to win.
>Jerry_Lerman: DEGKOTT -DEGK +0 159
>Jim_Burlant: EIILMST C1 LIMIEST +73 204
#note ELITISM scores 81 in the same location. I only recognized LIMITES and LIMIEST. The consolation: he still would have come back for huge points.
>Jerry_Lerman: ?ACZ 1A Co.ZA +75 234
>Jim_Burlant: CEHINOY B13 HOY +25 229
#note A tough call - how aggressive should I be? I played this to set up the C hook with C(HID). Q agrees - this is best. G2 HEY (which I also considered) is a strong choice...but it looks iffy to me with all the unseen o's. 38% to win.
>Jerry_Lerman: JUX 5B J.UX +36 270
>Jim_Burlant: CEIINTV 15A T.IN +24 253
#note Q prefers fishing with J10 NAEVI - pfft. I looked at te pool and, even with the blank unseen, didn't think this was looking too promising. I figured Jerry would do something to gum up row 6, and without a blank the only line left for bingoing was row 14...no thanks. I did this for the points, as it outscored any of the other options I saw. 23% to win.
>Jerry_Lerman: KOU B5 .OUK +24 294
#note Jerry told me post-mortem he smelled a C setup with HID and wanted to snuff that out.
>Jim_Burlant: ?CEEITV 6H E.ECTIVe +72 325
#note Better would have been the same word at 7G for 1 less point, but I did wind up benefitting from this:
>Jerry_Lerman: EPRY E11 PREY +42 336
>Jim_Burlant: EILNOTU N4 IN.OLUTE +63 388
#note Only bingo. When this came down I thought for sure I had the game won: I'm 81% to win.
>Jerry_Lerman: DEGOORV O1 GOOD +29 365
>Jim_Burlant: DIINOQR L4 IN.RO +12 400
#note Total end game fail on my end on all levels. I thoughtI was so cleverly creating a Q spot while I blocked his impending best play of VILE 8L. I need to recognize that he has outs all over the board and recognize that I can play the Q. Jerry's post-mortem comments indicated he also believed - as did I - that I was Q-stuck. I needed to look at the board: CINQ A1 dumps the Q for 25 and wins handily. QIN(TA)R 3E also wins. This is the second game out of this nationals I'd really want back.
>Jerry_Lerman: EIRV 2K VIRE. +16 381
