#title 2017 NSC Round 24
#description Will Anderson plays Jesse Matthews in Round 24 at the 2017 NSC
>Will: DEFOTUV 8D DEVOUT +24 24
>Jesse: AAEHOQY 9H HOYA +19 19
>Will: DFIJLLL K7 FL.IL +16 40
#note Damn it. The best play by a country mile is simply K8 FALL, setting up the massive FJELD to the triple.
>Jesse: AAEEGOQ -AEQO +0 19
>Will: BDIJLST E5 JIB.D +30 70
>Jesse: AEGLNRR D8 .ANGER +19 38
>Will: LNSTTUY 14B LUSTY +41 111
>Jesse: IILQRRS J6 QI +36 74
>Will: AINOOTT F4 OOT +18 129
#note Enough extra points over other placements of OOT to take the risk of playing here, IMO. Yes, I'm ahead, but not by enough to turtle up and not make lines when my tiles dictate that I should.
>Jesse: EIILRRS 11D .IRL +10 84
>Will: AINNRTW 15A WIN +22 151
#note I did consider AWN, but I failed to recognize that after AWN, all of the same bingos starting with a vowel will still play from 14H - but I will *also* get bingos starting with R hooking RYA, and that spikes my bingo percentage a bit.
>Jesse: EEIINRS 8K .INER +18 102
>Will: ?AENORT 15F ANOThER +76 227
>Jesse: AEEIKSS L10 SAKE +20 122
>Will: AAEIMOT 7M OMA +15 242
#note Blocking seems fine here. The good scoring plays aren't that much higher equity.
>Jesse: ?EEISSW 3B lEWISES +74 196
>Will: AEEIPTT 4A PATE +31 273
#note Here begins my total inability to see the 13C scoring spot (TRIPE). It's stuff like this that puts a damper on my ability to enjoy winning the tournament, because this is so basic. On this turn, PATE is only a small equity mistake, but it gives Jesse the threat of P- bingos to fish for later.
>Jesse: AABDEIR M11 BAD +29 225
>Will: EFGIPRT H1 RE.IFT +30 303
#note Here's where that spot blindness really hurts. GRIPT just scores far too much and leaves too flexible a combo of EFR to not play. RESIFT was just me grabbing for points and trying to make it to the end of the game - I think I can even withstand most bingos to the R. Of course, it sims way off of all the variations of GRIP at 13C, and even that is misleading, because part of the value of leaving GP after RESIFT is hitting the 13C spot with GRAPE and GRIP again, and I imagine I'll still be blind to it.
>Jesse: AAEHIRV 2A HAVE +36 261
>Will: CGMNPUZ 1G G.UMP +10 313
#note I had the pervasive sense that I had bungled this game and I just had to suck it up and accept that if Jesse had a bingo from the P here, I would have fully deserved to lose.
>Jesse: ADIOORX 4H .XORA +24 285
>Will: CCEGNNZ K13 ZE. +25 338
#note CZAR is better to shed the C and Z in one go.
>Jesse: DEIOU 9M ODE +18 303
>Will: CCGNN B2 ...NG +9 347
#note Blocking PIU
>Jesse: IU A1 U. +15 318
>Will: CCN 9C C.. +9 356
>Jesse: I J1 .I +6 324
>Jesse: (CN) +8 332
