#note this is the most trollish move in the world.

Josh: whaddya want from me I wasn't cashing and it was game 31 of Nationals.

>cesar: AELRSWY 15B LAWYERS +125 125
#note Cesar almost missed this. See, slotting on your first move always works in some way!

It was the last game of Nationals I needed to win,
I was playing an opponent I could beat from within!

Shoutout to whatnoloan don't sue me bro
>josh_sokol: EIMNOSV 14E OM +25 91
#note 14A VENOM is better but not really because my fishes always work and cesar's don't.
>cesar: CEEEIMN 11E CEN.IME +44 169
#note josh said "i don't know what i'm doing wrong"

yes I did and Scott Appel got a kick out of it. I live to entertain whaddya want from me. Also I hadn't done anything wrong.
>josh_sokol: BEINOSV L5 BOVINES +75 166
>cesar: ADENNOO 10J ON. +13 182
#note this is honestly not a very good move, i didn't really want to do 10J OD(E)ON because i was steaming from the stupid way this game was going. maybe M2 ODEON is a good in-between, but it does give up lots of points. -7

Josh: I knew this was a bad play and I was getting great pleasure and confidence from it.
>josh_sokol: DHKQRUZ 9G Z.K +31 197
#note look at this gorgeous post-bingo draw folks. This is how you do it.

I did this to block all of his bingos but he was so weak that I didn't need to. Still this managed to further frustrate him and make him fish even harder. I honestly have no regrets, but I should have played QU(I)RK 8J here. I think he would have started sweating liquid tilt followed by inevitable implosion.
>cesar: ADEINOO G8 A.O. +17 199
#note kinda like OIDIA here. ADOBO seems best though. nice move. -3.5

Josh: pfft your weakness is showing
>josh_sokol: ADFHQRU F10 F.H +31 228
#note Look how nicely my rack is shaping up. I don't even need to worry about him hitting his bingo, I'll just snapback for 50+ points
>cesar: DEEGINO 5K O.E +10 209
#note a bunch of moves here may be better like M2 GEOID/DOGIE/OGEED - i got stuck fishing and was frustrated because of the last few plays. >:( -4

He was crumbling here, I could literally see neurons abandoning his cerebrum by the millions, escaping certain death.
>josh_sokol: ADEIQRU J2 QUERIDA +95 323
#note I almost hesitated to play this because I actually like Cesar, but I'm a selfish sadist that likes to watch it all burn to ashes. Also he had it coming, the momentum was just too strong for him not to give me a perfect spot to bingo.
>cesar: DEGIINP K1 GIP +21 230
#note so frustrated
>josh_sokol: ?LOSTUU 1K .LOUT +21 344
#note And then humanity briefly returned to me, as if begging me to give Cesar a chance to redeem his many failures. As such, I missed OUTSULk, h(A)ULOUTS, TUmULOS(E) TUbULOS(E) and LUTEOUS, while chickening out of PATULOUS. It's almost as if my vital functions went into overdrive to prevent me from choking and losing the game. I just HAD to win. Empathy had nothing to do with it.

Could you imagine if I played OUTSULk here. Like how ironic could this have gotten? Who better to play that word against, and who better to play it?
>cesar: CDEEFIN 13G F.CIEND +40 270
>josh_sokol: ?DEGOSU F2 GOUrDES +69 413
#note I never learned the anagrams of GOUrDES. I've only studied them a few times, but GOUrDES is always the best play anyway so there is no room in my memory for DROGUES and GROUSED. Even if they are far better here. Playing optimally against Cesar is no fun anyway.
>cesar: ADEEHRR O1 .HREADER +89 359
#note I had to hold this play and marvel at how lucky Cesar was getting. He shouldn't even have the slimmest chance of winning this game and yet he pulls an 89-point bingo after a 6-tile play, leaving the blank to draw out of the bag! Unbelievable.
>josh_sokol: AABJPTT 14A JAB +32 445
#note I want to just stop you here to explain some strategy to you.

When attempting to win a game of Scrabble, scoring more than your opponent is of utmost importance. This is why JAB(O)T at 3C is not the correct play. JAB scores 2 more and sets up a nice scoring spot for myself. I have APT at 13C for 26 and even TAP at I3 for 23, blocking the O, U and R in GOURDES at a bare minimum next turn. You must not be turned off by the apparently inferiority of the PATT leave in contrast with JAB(O)T's more balanced PAT.
>cesar: ?ANOSTW N7 WANTOnS +82 441
#note playing 13C OWT here is not a bad idea, it's only slightly behind bingoing. maybe i should do that.

Josh: See, Cesar knew that I was going to win if he didn't do something about the spot I opened. And yet, he went for the optimal play because that is all he knows how to do. Sad...
>josh_sokol: AAPRTTV 13B PART +33 478
#note And how! The masterpiece is being laid out for its finishing touches. Prepare for the endgame.
>cesar: EGIIINY 5D GY.I +14 455
#note beautiful play!
>josh_sokol: ALTUVX 4A ULVA +22 500
#note I now must block GENII and threaten to go out. If T(U)X is blocked, I go out in two because the only way to stop me from playing out is to play NE 3A keeping II.
>cesar: EIIN G2 IN +9 464
#note -2 YIN
>josh_sokol: TX A3 T.X +10 510
#note Buen juego, mi querida. Te amo siempre.
