>Jason_Li: AEGORRT 8D GARROTE +70 70
>Joshua_Sokol: ACDEINP I3 PEDAN.IC +68 68
#note I didn't see CAN(O)PIED, but I knew that everything else wouldn't be positionally better enough to necessitate a points sacrifice. Still should have seen CAN(O)PIED, although I prefer this slightly.
>Jason_Li: ARX J4 RAX +56 126
#note :(
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEEEFI K3 FADE +39 107
#note Tough choise between this and 4H FERIAE, but against Jason I need all the luck I can get, so I'll take the points.
>Jason_Li: ABEG F6 BA.GE +16 142
#note I think he took a long time here, perhaps because he knew this set up a lot of hooks, but I had liked to think he missed the E hook. Didn't remember if I asked him. Anyways, this was when momentum started shifting my way.
>Joshua_Sokol: BEEFGIZ 11E FEZ +39 146
#note BFGZ drawn into EEI. Luckbox. 11C BIZE kept a better leave probably, but defensively was definitely not the right choice. Based on Jason's range I should play more defensively here, not because I'm worried he will get a bingo, but because I don't want to give him easy scoring options to get back into the game.
>Jason_Li: III -III +0 142
#note Interesting exchange at this stage. Does he have a blank? An S? Probably one of the two, or maybe he has IN for the G in GARROTE.
>Joshua_Sokol: BEGIOST 12A BOGIES +39 185
#note I would be on the fence about BOGIE for 12 fewer or this, but considering the small exchange I am not taking any chances. No easy lanes for him. GARROTE and AXE can be hooked still, but I had a feeling that closing off that quadrant of the board made the most sense. It's not easy to block under BARGEE unless you have an S, and I figured he was likely banking on that and going for a bingo there. BOGI(E) for 19 at 10B is not something I considered here. That's interesting, as it keeps a significantly better leave than BOGIE or BOGIES and is also pretty defensive. I like that play, but I also like mine as it's more my style. BOGIE wins a sim by 0.7 points, and blocks the most random bingos out of all of my plays, so possibly that was correct.
>Jason_Li: EE 3K .EE +12 154
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ADHPTW 2L WHAP +34 219
#note K8 DAWT is interesting for the safer, more defensive aspect. my HP? leave will respond to bingos very well. I'm not doing WHAT instead of WHAP, despite my scoring better afterward, but actually just as many bingos play as triple-triples with the T in second position as compared with the P in second position. But many more bingos start with P, so WHAT is looking better in that way. Is it 4 points better? Not sure, a sim gives me much better prospects with DT?. Based on Jason's range here, I think it's safe to say that there are a lot of I's to come and playing at 2L will benefit me more than it will him. Otherwise (B)AWD A12 is a classic play.
>Jason_Li: AQT 1K QAT +26 180
#note Jason is drawing awfully.
>Joshua_Sokol: ?DLORTU A8 TROU.LeD +140 359
#note I don't get to 3x3 very often in tournaments compared to some. This was ridiculously lucky.
>Jason_Li: ERS 4I ...SER +33 213
>Joshua_Sokol: IJLLNTT L6 LILT +16 375
#note A decent chance of hitting JIN(G)O C9 in the next few turns, I'll take that despite having to leave three consonants on my leave. Jason can't really do much to take advantage of a poor rack after this. It blocks a lot of hooks. I wondered if LINT was better than LILT because of the prevalence of N's in the pool, but I figured I could get rid of duplicates fairly easily and JNT looked better than JLT.
>Jason_Li: ?HKLOOS O4 SHOOK +47 260
#note I will preach this until the day I die. Jason should have played SOKOL here for 9 fewer just to keep another lane open. Nothing to do with the fact that it's my last name. SOKOL is the best play here. 100%. I also have the J
>Joshua_Sokol: IJMNRTV B11 N.IR +14 389
#note Worst case scenario after this play is a bingo to the G. If he goes down column B I can respond easily. I regret this play, even though I do like what it did to the board and to Jason's idea of what my range might be.
>Jason_Li: ?CILNSW D1 SCoWLIN. +78 338
#note He also considered COWLINGS, but was unsure of its validity. It's good!
>Joshua_Sokol: EJMTVVY 1A JET. +33 422
#note Lucky draw of a vowel puts this game basically out of reach for Jason again. I figured this was a weird spot where playing for points+leave seemed obvious, but possibly incorrect. Funny enough, VET(S) for 12 fewer sims 11(!) points higher than this. The J is far more flexibly than the V here. Wow. Gotta think outside the box more.
>Jason_Li: ENU C12 .ENU +18 356
>Joshua_Sokol: DIMNVVY G2 DIVVY +23 445
#note (C)IVVY is probably better. Forgot that 5.
>Jason_Li: AIM 2B MI.A +26 382
#note Although he scores 33 with this rack after CIVVY, so maybe not.
>Joshua_Sokol: IMNOOTU N4 .OM +26 471
#note super weird endgame. I went back to playing ROM instead of ROT. ROT leaves me with ONIUM, but I didn't see my super cool sequence of MOI B6 followed by UN(PEDANTIC) after he blocks my outplay with NAE M7. After ROT I win by 80 at least.
>Jason_Li: AEINOUY E4 EON +24 406
>Joshua_Sokol: INOTU B6 TUI +7 478
#note -3 (R)IT(Z) G8
>Jason_Li: AIUY H1 YA +18 424
>Joshua_Sokol: NO 3B ON. +15 493
>Joshua_Sokol: (IU) +4 497
#note Quackle seems to have messed the endgame up too. I could have won by 76 instead of 80, but it said that ROM was 10 points worse than ROT. RUM instead of ROM also wins by 80 if I play correctly.
