#note hm
what would you do?

#note A(B)ERRANt would have been much worse for me

>Crayne_Spanier: EGLO 10G OGLE +17 111
>Joshua_Sokol: EEIJNWY 11E JEW +31 142
#note J2 JEWE(L), a better version of this play? Hm, not necessarily. I waffled between playing (ZA)YIN keeping the J or JEW keeping ZAYIN. I liked that I was blocking a bit more with this, saving my Y also for big re-overlaps if he played something making (J)O, and seeing that plays for the rest of the game were more contained inside the bottom right for the most part.
>Crayne_Spanier: DMO 12D DOM +25 136
>Joshua_Sokol: AEEINYY 13D AYE +27 169
#note this was weird now. It seemed slightly better for forgo ZAYIN again, but also YAY 13C seemed palatable too. On this tighter board, I put more value in my scoring leave than in EEIN, enough to account for the small points sacrifice, and went ahead with AYE. But it wasn't before closely considering EYE vs. AYE. Figured the A would usually go better with YIN, but that there were many A's to come and the only reason I'm keeping this leave is to play (ZA)YIN next turn. Sim slightly prefers YAY, and AYE slightly over EYE, a result I think I can trust. ZAYIN is a couple of points back.
>Crayne_Spanier: APW 5I PAW +22 158
>Joshua_Sokol: EHINQSY 13C H...Y +36 205
#note once again I draw something out of the ordinary and forgo (ZA)YIN! This time I might be wrong, as it kindly sets up my Q. But the setup H(AYE)Y creates is much safer, which is why I went with this. I could also just play QI now, or even (ZA)NYISH crossed my mind. So many interesting options, but I chose the fanciest one. H(AYE)Y gives me a big spot for QIS next turn, and it's pretty safe besides the faint possibility of a humongous (DAS)H play once I've cashed the setup. I could also just play QI next turn, but I would do so at 9C so as not to create much volatility. In this sense, I'm unsure why logic would point to me playing H(AYE)Y if I don't necessarily want to use my QI/QIS setup next turn, and once again I turn toward (ZA)YIN. That is a bit more defensive too, especially in the long run. Hm.
>Crayne_Spanier: OPRU 4J POUR +22 180
#note Crayne smartly trying to open up the top of the board a bit.
>Joshua_Sokol: CEIINQS 9C QI +25 230
#note At this avenue Quackle actually wants me to play 14B QI for 2 more points because there are only 3 I's left and the score is relatively close, but not too close that I can't withstand the average underlap using an I. I get it, I was a bit scared, and once again I shouldn't have played HAYEY if I was going to play scared this turn. Also 11J CINQ sims better than my play, which also makes sense. The pool is good for EIS and that scores and blocks quite well.
>Crayne_Spanier: FNO 3I FON +22 202
>Joshua_Sokol: CEINRST N6 IN..RSECT +78 308
#note I knew CISTERN had a pair and I couldn't think of it but I was like "you know what I don't care". CRETINS plays at 2E for 84.
>Crayne_Spanier: TTUUVV -TTUUVV +0 202
#note a big bingo and a bad draw could have blown me to bits after the 9.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAAGHIR O14 AA +8 316
#note otherwise M2 AA(R)GH is fine. I should have played that instead of playing super scared.
>Crayne_Spanier: DEKU 11J DUKE. +24 226
>Joshua_Sokol: AGHIRSU 12K HIR. +33 349
#note missed 14F SAUGH and HAR(E) might be better? Spent a while debating which of GUIS and GAUS were a better leave here, and it seemed really close because AGSU was definitely more balanced and flexible, but the underlap at 10C was a factor too. I would like to hit that spot before he does so I can prevent setups on column A.
>Crayne_Spanier: EMNOSV O1 VENOMS +38 264
>Joshua_Sokol: ACEGISU 10B CIG +29 378
#note but I draw another I anyway. Forgot about C(OPAL) for a turn and sacrificed some points over 2I ICE. But that's not a very good play for spread since there are two D's left that he can use to hit a big bingo later on that I can't easily block. This is probably correct regardless of COPAL.
>Crayne_Spanier: BGOS 14B GOBS +39 303
>Joshua_Sokol: AAEESTU 13L TE. +23 401
#note This spot was actually not cool at all. If he hits something at 15A next turn and then gets a 7 that fits on column C, or even vice-versa, I might be in trouble. So I opted to score now and try to outrun that bad case scenario. Also, with the amount of tiles left in the bag, if I play 2 tiles and he plays 3 at 15A, I can still play 2 tiles and not empty the bag next turn, which is important. After M3 U(R)EA, the totally normal standard play here, I can only play off my S at H11 after his 3-tile play next turn, which only scores 19, which banks me 30 instead of TEC scoring 23+however many I can score with two tiles next turn (more than 7). He can score 31 with VID 15A and then up to 80 if he can maximize overlaps ending his word in ONE or something and win the game by a few points perhaps. It actually seems more likely that he bingos now with TONTINE or something and I can only score 20 with my overlap. The previous scenario seems very unlikely given that there are only two letters that go under the G in GOBS and the same two letters are the most conducive to going atop the F in FON.
TEC and UREA are flipflopping on a sim, but I don't know what that means here. Champ player finds 14G AE wins all the time, as he cannot have a bingo that plays on row 15 after that!
>Crayne_Spanier: DN L3 D.N +21 324
#note TE(C) was definitely a spread-killer, you might think, as I am deciding that I will not bingo, even though I could keep a good bingo leave instead.
>Joshua_Sokol: AAESTTU M3 U.SA +39 440
