#player1 Jeremy_Hildebrand Jeremy Hildebrand
#player2 Joshua_Sokol Joshua Sokol
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: FIRTZ 8H FRITZ +54 54
>Joshua_Sokol: EGINORT 8H .....ING +63 63
#note RO(Z)ETING#
was happy enough with this
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: AEIORRS K6 RO.ARIES +66 120
#note Jeremy apologized later for spending a while on this turn. He was trying to talk himself into ROASTIER* until he realized that the anagram of ROTARIES was ROARIEST#!
>Joshua_Sokol: AEILORT H8 .LOATIER +86 149
#note I then mentioned the fact that I took twice as long as he did to play an bingo just as babyish as his. On my side I originally discounted FLOATIER as a candidate play because it didn't seem like a word, but slowly and surely I just kept repeating "FLOATIER? FLOATIER?" in my head until it just hit me that it was definitely a word. To demonstrate the extent of my exhaustion even further, I saw RELATIO(N) after a few seconds, and thought that maybe its anagram would be more defensive, but I just couldn't, for the life of me, remember ORIENTAL (let alone remember TAILERON#)
I must have had ORIENTAL and RELATION available to play at least 20 times in the past few years, and each time I was sane enough to instantly recognize the anagram pair.
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: MOU L12 MOU +20 140
>Joshua_Sokol: BCFOPWY 10D COWB.Y +24 173
#note COWP# and this is probably too tame. FP is just as clunky as BCFY and might not even score as well in future turns.
I guess I was just sad that he blocked W(I)COPY
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: EIKNV L2 KNIVE +26 166
#note This play took Jeremy a while to make. He cited the fact that he didn't want to get rid of his IN because of the O1 IN(G) bingo spot.
I challenged this play for 5 reasons, in order of least important to most important:
1) he played it on the wrong side of the R: J2 scores more
2) he misscored the play, which is a common tell of someone who is uncertain about making a certain play.
3) he took quite a long time to play.
4) I didn't recognize this from TWL (it's #)
5) ....it's 5-point... duh
M10 KIEV# seems to have been missed.
Also I forgot to add +5 here and I'm already near the end of the game so I'll add it too a later play.
>Joshua_Sokol: BEFLMPY M10 FLEY +37 210
#note MOUP# so 15L PELF
I remember thinking that BMP wasn't too bad since I could draw into PEMBINA or something
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: DJSU E7 JUD.S +26 192
#note and then I drew into PEMBINA!!!!! But there was nowhere to play it, until
>Joshua_Sokol: ABEIMNP F1 PEMBINA +76 286
#note See "Josh gets lucky" case number 963
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: Q 5E Q. +22 214
>Joshua_Sokol: ADEEENP 2J PE.AN +34 320
#note see "MOUP# is a word" case number 3
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: CHORS 8A CHOR.S +50 264
#note this was a very nice play
>Joshua_Sokol: DEEOOST 1D DE.OT +30 350
#note OO(P)ED# looks OK too. In full outrunning mode, but it might be tough if he hits me next turn.
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: HOW 1M HOW +34 298
>Joshua_Sokol: EOSTTVX 9B OX +39 389
#note First turn of the game where I actually saw all of my candidate plays.
I liked sort of trying to block a big lane here, but perhaps 15K SEXTO was too much to give up
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: ?AADGLT 14B GALeAT.D +72 370
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: ?AIILRU (challenge) +5 375
#note didn't challenge this, just rectifying KNIVE getting a +5 earlier.
>Joshua_Sokol: AENSTTV 15K VESTA +34 423
>Joshua_Sokol: AEINNTU (challenge) +5 428
#note It doesn't actually matter that I gave the +5 this late because Jeremy also challenged FRITZING and I got +5 for that. So just rectifying that too.
This has to be right, the pool is vowel-heavy and this blocks the biggest lane. This seems to outrun another immediate bingo relatively often because I'll have good tempo in the endgame and it's unlikely he'll have anywhere to put 5 tiles on this board.
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: ?AIILRU O5 oLI.URIA +59 434
#note URALITIC would have put me in a pretty rough spot in the endgame, just barely losing. Jeremy rightly said he played OLIGURIA too fast here. He's a huge underdog in the endgame after this actually. The 21 point-difference is as important as ever.
>Joshua_Sokol: AEINNTU G3 AIN +25 453
#note didn't know AINE# or EINA#, so -1. But that isn't the embarrassing part.
>Jeremy_Hildebrand: DEEEG 3L .EED +25 459
>Joshua_Sokol: ENTU 2A TUNE +11 464
#note embarrassing part is missing U(G)# :(
>Joshua_Sokol: (EG) +6 470
